    Excellent little saw
I owned one of these saws for about 2 years. I used it as my lightweight saw in combo with a larger 60cc saw. Crazy easy to start and once the carb was adjusted (after a little break-in period) it had pretty decent power. Note: The 211 has an adjustable carb. I'll be buying one of the 211's again for sure.

Easy Starting, Nice Power, Good Balance, Relatively Light
I'm on tank 3 and so far and I've been pretty careful during the initial break in but the saw has been as advertised. The easy start feature is nice when you get use to it and the saw does a good job trimming and cutting through moderate sized timber. The tool-less quick chain tensioner is a plus as well. I looked at several competitor saws and seriously at one other major brand. The Stihl reliability, durability, service reputation and the 211s features were the final determining factor. This ... read more saw is a nice light/medium duty small saw and I'd recommend it as a home owner or ranch hand saw

It's good enough for my needs
I use this saw around the house and cut some small stock firewood. It's plenty for what I need. I don't really care for the easy start system. It feels strange, mostly because I'm not used to it yet I suppose. The first startup took forever. The second one took awhile, but since that point it has been pretty easy. Good saw for small stock and occasional use.

    Exceeds my expectations....
I bought this MS 170 for small limbs and cleanup as well as smaller firewood. I have a Stihl MS 362 that will cut anything and a Husky 346 that is also a good big saw. Thinking I could only cut small firewood, I took along my 362. As I began cutting with the little 170, I could not believe how well it cut for such a small saw. I did not need the 362 at all and really enjoyed the cutting power of such a small saw . It performed way above my expectations and was easy on my old muscles.....

    A little hard to start
I've only had the saw a month or so, so I really can't speak to its reliability or durability. So far it has cut everything from small limbs to 9 inch limbs with no issues. It is always difficult to get started first thing. Once it is warmed up though it starts the first or second pull every time.

The MS181 C-BE has all the features I was looking for.
I am very pleased with this saw, I turned 71 this last week, so when they say it starts like a dream and runs like a champ, I'm here to tell you it really does, and it cuts like crazy. The 5 star service I got from Ace Hardware was great, they put oil and gas in it, and took it outside and started it, gave me a full demo on the saw and then did all my paper work, I was impressed. Looking forward to using this saw as much as I can.

    Excellent Homeowner Tool
I went to a Stihl authorized dealer and told them that I needed to remove 7 crab apple trees as well as a number of large (6' +) lilac bushes and maintain the remaining trees on my property (a mix of apple, maple, and ash). Their recommendation: The MS 181C. I was skeptical at first - believing that I needed something larger and/or more robust - maybe something from the Farm & Ranch line. I am pleased to say that their advice was right on! I have removed 6 of the trees so far and the MS 181C ... read more has performed exceptionally well. It has low vibration, it's lightweight, easy to use/fill/maintain, and has proven to be 100% reliable so far. It can be slow to start sometimes - but has not once quit on me despite long hours of operation. I highly recommend this model for homeowners who need to do a lot of sawing.

Wouldn't buy any other brand of chainsaw
We've owned a few different brands of chainsaws over the years. We decided on a Stihl and it is worth every penny! It's form meets function and is reliable and gets the job done every time. Starts on a dime and runs like a champ. We will never own any other brand of chainsaw again.

    Good little saw
I pushed this saw to the bar's limit and only bogged down a couple times. It will chew right through anything if the chain is sharp. I had the sprocket on the bar get clogged up with bark and chips a couple of times, but it did not take long to fix. I think this happened if it let off the throttle in mid cut. I think it is a pretty good value. Light weight and did what I needed. It could use more power at times, but if the chain is sharp it is fine. The quick chain adjuster takes a little ... read more getting use to when you use to the old style, but it works well when your gloves are off. Sometimes the gas cap is hard to get off. Nothing a pair of channel locks won't fix.

    Wild Banshee yes indeed!!!
I bought this saw to trim up my mesquite trees and it handled every thing like a boss! This is my first chainsaw so needless to say when the employee at Ace Hardware got it set up and let it rip, my new saw was screaming like a wild banshee!!! After running this saw for 6 hours I felt like one heck of a new MAN!!! I could not be happier with my new purchase today!!!

    More than enough power!
I bought this MS 251 Wood Boss last fall and it cuts like a dream. Every time I go to the mountain my family and friends want to use it because it is lightweight and doesn't hurt the back. I can cut a whole load of wood without adding fuel. Thanks for a great saw.

I just upgraded from a stihl 170 (which I have bought 5 in the last 8 years. I cannot complain about the 170 because I cut 50-70 face cord of wood a year from 2 inches to 30 inches in diameter.I know I asked a lot from that small saw. After running 2 tanks of gas through the 251 today I had 3 times the wood cut. Never had a bit of trouble starting it. I highly recommend the stihl chainsaw.

    "Like a Boss"
In having used a Farm Boss several times before, I was very pleased with the performance of my 251 Wood Boss. The more compact size and less weight made it perfect for all day use. I ran it for about 15 hours over the course of my fist week and not the slightest issue with the product. It's simple, ingenious manufacture makes clean up and maintenance a breeze. I highly recommend this product and to recommend to other potential customers that this saw can cut a lot more than you would think.

Light weight and tons of power - very reliable
I have used this saw to cut down several trees in the 4-6inch size without issue. It has fired up every time I needed it, and ran particularly well in cold weather. I find the light weight is awesome for getting the job done. I am extremely pleased with this saw and am glad I chose to go with it. I really cannot emphasize enough how solidly built this saw is, it has handled everything I have thrown at it with ease.

    used it for everything
I bought this saw three months ago for a small tree cutting service I run. So far I have used this saw to cut a red oak from the top down, I have cut down about a dozen dead trees with it and often used it to limb. the saw AV is great, and the weight and power ratio are good. the saw is easily maintainable by anyone and the 14 inch bar is great for tight spaces. this saw has earned a place next to my larger saws.

    Excellent starter saw
This saw is amazing. It's the first chainsaw I have purchased and have cut a full cord of wood with it already no problem. Easy to use chain tensioner, gas and oil caps and very easy to clean. A little loud but no complaints. I have cut trees up to almost 3 feet in diameter no problem. Of course, the bigger the diameter, the longer it will take to cut through. But for trees about a foot in diameter, this saw cuts through them like butter. Very easy to start. Uh don't know what else to say but I ... read more highly recommend this to any homeowner who owns alot of property with forest.
