    Easy and safe to use
I had not used a chain saw before and this was recommended by my dealer who spent a lot of time setting the saw up for me and going over all the features and operations. It is light weight, relatively quiet, cuts well, starts easily, and has many safety features (brake, chain catcher, hand guard, etc.). It has plenty of power and handles very well cutting trees, trimming branches, and cutting wood. While not complicated, there is a multi-step starting procedure that keeps kids from starting the saw up.

    toughest lil saw built
I bought 2 and believe me they are underrated. I work mine 10 hours a day. And cut some pretty big trees. 14 inch across. I used to be a husqvarna man. But the last 30 years nothing but stihl. Love all 3 of my saws. 250 is a cutting machine to.

    All I'll ever need!
I purchased just under 5 acres of land with lots of Oak and Cedar and some Pine spread throughout. After using a competitor saw for 2 weeks I purchased this saw along with the FS 130 Brushcutter and have been extremely pleased. I'm no lumberjack but this saw gets more work done than the last one in half the time!

    I switched brands
A couple of my local friends recommended the Stihl saws. I have been a long time owner of another brand. After buying a new one of the old brand I was so disappointed with it I switched to Stihl. My kids can't keep up with the splitting and stacking because I cut so much wood with this Stihl saw. This is a fabulous machine and I am so happy I switched. It can get serviced locally if I have any issues. Don't forget the Stihl oil it doubles the warranty and doesn't need stabilizers.

    Couldn't be more pleased.
Great, great little chainsaw that doesn't know it is a little chainsaw. Easy Start is absolutely wonderful....very powerful....chain doesn't loosen. It was more expensive than others I was looking at...but well worth it!

    This chainsaw is very dependable
I was looking for a saw that was light weight and easy to start. My first time out, I went through 3 tanks of gas and of course chain oil. I always had problems with previous Chainsaws that once they get warmed up they become hard starting. Not this model! It's easy starting mechanism stores energy like a wound top and releases on its own for an easy start! Starts every time hot or cold. I just love it. It also has a tool less chain adjustment that works great. The dealer did recommend using ... read more non-ethanol fuel. It costs more but is worth it. One of our gas stations in town had it. Needless to say I am very happy with this saws performance

    One very significant flaw
The one bolt/nut design for tightening the chain is efficient, yet it wasn't solidly adhered into the plastic body. I have plenty of saws and know not to over tighten when changing chain tension. The darn thing was loose and started coming right out of the plastic housing. It was repaired by my STIHL dealer after pressing Blue Mountain distribution. Because I have several STIHL products, they may have made an exception for me. It should be covered by warranty and should be solidly ... read more manufactured. Now that it is repaired, it is a good little light weight saw that I use on light work.

Small package with a big bite.
I cut 24"+ rounds for firewood that is my main heating source. Don't let the size fool you.

    Great saw!
Straight from the store, this saw started and ran fantastically. Having grown up on a farm with a father who was a professional logger for a period of time in the 70's; I have been around chainsaws all my life. They were universally old and while in fair repair, difficult to start. Starting the Wood Boss is a dream! Generally one easy pull and it is idling reliably.

    Best purchase 2016!
I love this saw and I have probably burned 15 cords of wood in our stove this year. Wood is or only heat source so we go through a ton of it. I was a little worried about it being marketed as a saw that cuts 16-18'' logs but I have cut some huge stumps that are 4' in diameter. It starts up every time and runs for 45min to 1 hr on one tank of gas doing full on sawing the whole time. I have only dulled one saw blade and I am currently working through the second. Once you go STIHL you never go back.

52 yo woman 21 acres with hedge tree surround, excellent saw!
As the title explains, I am a 52 yo woman and this is my first real chainsaw. I have old hedgerow surrounding my property (21 acres) and I have cut trees that are easily a 30 inch diameter on down to saplings. This saw has been wonderful, this is my second season with it. It starts easily and runs until my body says no more, today I cut for a solid 7 hours. . The chain has stretched so that I can't adjust the tension any tighter so I will be out to buy a new chain before I can continue my projects.

Easy start and a dream to use.
I have owned Stihl chain saws for over 20 year and have a problem with my upper back and could not pull start my older chain saws both Stihl and others. After searching online I came across the MS 180 C-BE 16. So I went to Robinson Hardware in Guilderland NY. The sales person was great and we went over the easy start saws that were available and I dry started this saw. It was an answer to my dream of having a chain saw I could start with out hurting my back. After purchase we went out and ... read more started my new saw. If you can pick up a cold drink 3 times it starts. The next day I headed into the woods and ran the saw for about 4 hours and it ran very well and after it warmed up it was a 1 pull wonder.

    Perfect for heavy home use
I've run a few of the bigger Stihl saws out on my friend's farm, but they are overkill for what I was needing at my home. The 181 is the perfect size for cutting up medium soft woods (>8") and smaller hardwoods (>5") around my home, and my parents home. Maintenance is a breeze with the tool-less design and the quick start works like a dream. Running this all day is no problem for me with the light weight and the shocks built in to the body. I'll most likely get a 14" bar if I ever need to cut ... read more anything bigger, but the 16" that is included is more than adequate for my current needs.

Easy start makes this saw!!! Love it.
I have asked everyone I know with experience and Stihl is their #1 or 2 choice for quality and reliability. I haven't had the saw long but it looks well made. The easy start function is outstanding. That has been my biggest issue with a real chainsaw. It's a breeze. The weight of this model is just right for me as a 125 lb woman. It's easy to maneuver and I don't feel like it owns me. Highly recommend this saw .

Fantastic saw, power to weight is perfect
Saw is now 1 yr. old. I have been very pleased with it thus far. It is much more powerful than I expected. Starts on 2-3 pulls when cold. 1 when hot. Not for heavy-duty use but I have cut a lot of wood with it plus storm damage trees. The chain is easy to replace and easy to keep correct tension. I have had absolutely no problems with it and would not hesitate to buy another if needed.

    My fav lightweight saw!!
The Stihl MS180 is a fantastic value and a hard working little machine. I have two of them and use this model to cut 90% of my firewood for home heat. Some people laugh at my little saw but for me a light weight saw lets me keep working all day without user fatigue. I have several larger saws but only use them for felling large trees and for big jobs. Never under estimate the value of small, lightweight equipment. In the right hands they can do a ton of work! I do however wish Stihl would avoid ... read more some of the newer additions to this model like the easy start and tool-less chain adjustment features. In my experience they just add weight and reduce long term reliability. Keep em simple, strong, and light!!
