A great saw for the money and size
This is a great small saw for lite to moderate cutting. I've used it extensively for small trimming jobs as well as to drop snags up to 18 inches in diameter. This is not a full power professional grade saw, however for its price and size it has an excellent power to weight ratio and will run an 18 inch bar in hardwood with no problem. This is an excellent choice if you're looking for a small general duty chainsaw.

    the best chainsaw made!
Love this saw! Have put it through some hard work and it just keeps running great! Easy to crack, easy to handle while working and easy to maintain. Cannot ask for a better chainsaw. Worth every penny paid for it. Get this one, take care of it and it will last a very long time .

    Great go-to saw
While this saw is marketed for firewood cutting, if you want an all-purpose saw that is powerful enough to cut logs in the woods and light enough to do work around the yard, this should be your choice. Make sure you follow the user manual for the proper steps to start the saw. I see lots of reviews here, and I hear a lot of people complain about starting issues. This doesnt have a primer bulb, full choke does the same action. Don't choke the saw to death. Two or three pulls on full ... read more choke(that's it, don't wait for it to burp on full choke), then make sure you back it down to half or no choke. This saw is an absolute breeze to start, provided you follow the directions in your manual.

Excellent Saw with the Right Chain
The MS 251 C-BE is easy to start and very reliable. The only recommendation I would make for improvement is to forego the factory installed RMS chain and install an RS chain. The difference in cutting speed and efficiency is remarkable.

Excellent chain saw!! Even my wife can start this one!!!
This is probably the best stihl that I've owned. I still have the 029 that I bought in 1988 and this new MS251C puts it to shame this new MS251C starts so easy that my wife can start it and she can't start any of my power tools. This saw has plenty of power to get the job done it cuts extremely smooth without bogging down. I really like the new easy adjust chain and the easy open fuel and oil caps. This is a great saw at a reasonable price.

Best Saw I Have Ever Owned!!
I have used this saw for over 2 years now. I have never had any problems. I have cut many cords of wood. The saw has never failed to start or quit for no reason. I would recommend this saw to anyone who needs a dependable saw that's so easy to use.

    awesome saw!
I purchased this saw this week with a 16inch bar, couldn't ask for a better saw. i don't cut trees daily, so this was the ideal choice. i had a large peacan limb fall out of the tree. it was up to about a foot in diameter and aprox. 20-25ft long. the saw handled flawlessly and didn't use much gas, or oil. Cut like a hot knife threw butter. if your just going to use a saw every once in awhile, then i highly recommend this one. no question, stihl makes the best saws out there.

Light weight and tons of power - very reliable
I have used this saw to cut down several trees in the 4-6inch size without issue. It has fired up every time I needed it, and ran particularly well in cold weather. I find the light weight is awesome for getting the job done. I am extremely pleased with this saw and am glad I chose to go with it. I really cannot emphasize enough how solidly built this saw is, it has handled everything I have thrown at it with ease.

    very tough saw
I just bought this saw and have used it to clear land. this saw is very dependable and very tough. I cut down a 2 foot willow tree and it fell on the chainsaw we took a skid steer and moved the tree and the saw was just fine I love this saw it is a little under powered so I recommend putting a 14 inch bar the 16 in is just a little under powered.

    Very good, but ...
I really like the Wood Boss but there is a safety issue you need to aware of. The screw that holds down the cover of the chain drive cog is only a friction hold. If you don't fully tighten it will back out. I had it back out while sawing and fortunately felt the extra vibration before the chain dropped off the gear. I have replaced the screw with a bolt and lock washer. If that should loosen I'm going to apply Loctite Blue.

    Great all around saw
I have had this saw for almost a year now. Between light trimming and cutting around my house and clearing fallen trees on my land up north it has been a great saw. It is well made, reliable, easy to start/use and is a good looking saw. I have always run stihl moto mix through the saw as I don't use it often enough that it breaks the bank. Plus it is always good to know you are using quality fuel with stabilizer included. One thing that I will note which other places don't do. A stihl dealer ... read more will fill the saw with fuel/oil mix as well as bar oil and start it up for you right then and there. They will also adjust/tune if needed. I can't say the same for other retailers...

    excellent saw
I have owned this saw for about 6 months. I have used it around my yard to clean up fallen branches and maintain my trees. It's a lightweight saw that is deceptively powerful. The saw is very easy to maintain plus the quick chain adjuster and easy to start features puts it over the top. Best power tool I've purchased in years.

52 yo woman 21 acres with hedge tree surround, excellent saw!
As the title explains, I am a 52 yo woman and this is my first real chainsaw. I have old hedgerow surrounding my property (21 acres) and I have cut trees that are easily a 30 inch diameter on down to saplings. This saw has been wonderful, this is my second season with it. It starts easily and runs until my body says no more, today I cut for a solid 7 hours. . The chain has stretched so that I can't adjust the tension any tighter so I will be out to buy a new chain before I can continue my projects.

    Open Heart Surgery
After my open heart surgery I found it very difficult to start my old chain saws. So off to the Stihl dealer, I came home with this saw and could not be happier, I have used it for over two years for cutting trees to keep my property neat. If you require a saw with easy start capability, then this is a very dependable saw to use.

    Handy, Little Dependable Saw
Purchased the MS 170 for limbing trees, and bucking small diameter oak and gum trees. Impressive little, lightweight saw. Easy to start so far. It's excellent cutting ability may be due in part to a wider but shorter 12" bar and a 63PM44 chain that I use. Still need my big Stihl and Partner for felling big trees, but for the smaller stuff it's a welcomed change of pace using this light chainsaw. So glad I bought it. Like a lot of great products, it might get discontinued. Better buy one now! ... read more I'm buying another, just in case.
