Very dependable and light for the elderly:
My 2 1/2 year old ms 180-c is still running strong. Just felt that I had better get another for back-up before winter sets in. Also I have a Farm Boss that is a hoss of a heavy duty chainsaw. It is 12 yrs old and strong as ever. Only Stihl at my farm.

    This chainsaw is very dependable
I was looking for a saw that was light weight and easy to start. My first time out, I went through 3 tanks of gas and of course chain oil. I always had problems with previous Chainsaws that once they get warmed up they become hard starting. Not this model! It's easy starting mechanism stores energy like a wound top and releases on its own for an easy start! Starts every time hot or cold. I just love it. It also has a tool less chain adjustment that works great. The dealer did recommend using ... read more non-ethanol fuel. It costs more but is worth it. One of our gas stations in town had it. Needless to say I am very happy with this saws performance

    Ecellent Features
The MS 251 Stihl is easy to start. Just a slow pull and it's ready to go. The gas and oil caps are accessible and easy to remove. The blade stays sharps. We cut 6 cords of wood and have all the wood we need for the winter. The unit does leak chain oil if it's sitting unused. Winterizing is easy. The price is reasonable too. Choose a Stihl and you will always have a reliable tool ready when you need it.

    Powerful and very reliable
This MS 180 C-BE saw is powerful beyond it's size. Plenty of power and lightweight. It has been a workhorse for over 3 years. Two things should be known about this saw: 1) On the Easy-Start system, DO NOT pull the cord as you would on a regular recoil type system. You run the risk of pulling the rope out of it's housing. This system was not designed for hard pull recoil ... hence the Easy-Start system. 2) Occasionally check the fuel line inside the gas tank for pinching of the line. As the ... read more internal fuel line become older, it tends to soften and may, at times, form a crimp and cut off the fuel supply. Two minor issues worth mentioning. Still an excellent product. And keep the saw chain sharp!

    Great little saw!
After using cheaper saws for several years with spotty results, I purchased the 180C for use around my yard. I only wish I had done so sooner...would've saved me the maintenance headaches the cheaper saws usually come with. It's a great saw for small to medium sized work.

    Very good saw
My great uncle gave me this saw when i was 13 years old. I used it all the time. It cut everything from a twig to a tree wider than the bar. This is the saw that made me a firm believer in Stihl products. When i was 16, I had parked my fourwheeler on the side of the road with my chainsaw on the back of it an i walked up a trail into the woods and when i got back my saw was gone, someone stole it. I was heartbroken. I saved up my money for a few months after that and went and bought a MS 250 ... read more Stihl. And its a perfect saw but, itll never be the 170 that I grew up with.

    Strong Saw!
The saw is very strong for it's size, but yet is very light and easy to use. I have used the saw to trim trees, as well as clear out a stand of 7-8 year old pines. The saw has to be primed for a few seconds every time it is used, but has no problems starting if you follow procedures. Wouldn't buy any other brand or model.

Easy start and a dream to use.
I have owned Stihl chain saws for over 20 year and have a problem with my upper back and could not pull start my older chain saws both Stihl and others. After searching online I came across the MS 180 C-BE 16. So I went to Robinson Hardware in Guilderland NY. The sales person was great and we went over the easy start saws that were available and I dry started this saw. It was an answer to my dream of having a chain saw I could start with out hurting my back. After purchase we went out and ... read more started my new saw. If you can pick up a cold drink 3 times it starts. The next day I headed into the woods and ran the saw for about 4 hours and it ran very well and after it warmed up it was a 1 pull wonder.

    excellent saw
I have owned this saw for about 6 months. I have used it around my yard to clean up fallen branches and maintain my trees. It's a lightweight saw that is deceptively powerful. The saw is very easy to maintain plus the quick chain adjuster and easy to start features puts it over the top. Best power tool I've purchased in years.

I needed a small saw for the light cutting work, and this fits the task at hand.
My workhorse is a Farm Boss, which is used for the heavy work. The MS 181 is a great lightweight saw used for a run of small cutting tasks. This saw idles great, reeves up smooth and quick, and cuts like a knife! Yes, it is underpowered as compared to the Stihl Farm Boss, but that is why I have the Farm Boss. The MS 181 is a very welcomed addition to my overall capability, and its several pounds lighter in weight, and it does the job well. For its size, there is plenty of power. I am quite ... read more satisfied with this purchase and recommend the saw as a lightweight saw that carries the reputation of a Stihl.

    Suspension saves arthritic hands.
Upon purchase of this saw, I started to acquire the wood needed to heat my home for this winter. I was fortunate to have several large oak trees that had expired and were well seasoned for use this year. AS YOU KNOW, OAK IS A HARD WOOD AND DENSE BY NATURE. MY NEW SAW WAS UP TO THE CHALLENGE AND PROVIDED EXCELLENT SERVICE AS I CUT MULTIPLE CHORDS. I have since burned about twenty tanks of gas and have not encountered any problems. Best saw I have used in twenty plus years of heating my home with ... read more wood. I am an experienced user and find this product more than adequate. My only concern is will my health allow me to keep up with this saw, LOL

Great saw, starts up awesome, good power for around the yard applications
Followed the extended warranty plan with the HP Ultra fuel oil, check, use the Platinum bar oil, check, barely pulling on the pull cord to start the chainsaw while up a ladder in a tree,...priceless. Well enough power to cut anything I will ever see in our yard and the easy stop/start is a great safety feature, whether up a tree or down on the ground. Messed with the easy tension and chain adjustment, works great, looks super easy to change the bar or chain when the time comes. I'm digging my saw!

    EZ start, Great features
Bought my 211 as a replacement to my Husqvarna which I had for many years. Made the change due to the EZ start feature which is fantastic. Had shoulder surgery and with the ez start, you simply pull the cord maybe halfway out and the saw does the rest. Takes a couple pulls to start but if you follow the directions for starting, it works every time. No more pulling and pulling to get the saw to turn over. Also the chain tightener is a snap and takes 30 seconds maybe to tighten the chain. All ... read more without tools. Cuts fast too for a mid size but will bog down if you try to force it.
