    Great saw
My previous saw was a Stihl 028 that was almost 20 yrs old. I sold it when I moved into town and didn't think I needed it anymore. I purchased a MS 170 because of the value and experience I'd had with my previous saw. It's a great saw and starts easily. It's also very efficient. It's a great saw for the average homeowner.

    Love my MS 170
I bought this MS 170 a little over a year ago. I love this little saw. The weight of this saw allows you to cut all day and not even think about. What surprised me was the power this little saw has. I use it a lot along fence rows to cut small brush and to cut up trees that fell down on the fence. Never a problem. Starts with 1 or 2 pulls. I have had a Stihl 044 for years so I knew about the quality product of a Stihl. This MS 170 is top notch.

    MS 181 C-BE
Bought this chainsaw to use around the house, trimming magnolia trees and some other trees. I had problems starting the saw when I first got it because I didn't know how to take advantage of the Easy2Start system. I took it to the dealer I bought it from and they showed me how to start it correctly. Now that I know how to start it correctly, it is very, very simple to start. You really don't have to pull hard on the rope at all. I haven't had an issue with it. Cuts through trees like butter.

    Well worth the money
This is an affordable saw for a starting business. I needed a chainsaw for cutting down small trees for customers. Without having a large budget, I researched and found that this saw should meet my needs. So far it's working great. I'm definitely going to upgrade later, because of the power when a bind is put on it. However, it makes fast work of small to midsize trees. Very dependable! Would recommend.

I needed a small saw for the light cutting work, and this fits the task at hand.
My workhorse is a Farm Boss, which is used for the heavy work. The MS 181 is a great lightweight saw used for a run of small cutting tasks. This saw idles great, reeves up smooth and quick, and cuts like a knife! Yes, it is underpowered as compared to the Stihl Farm Boss, but that is why I have the Farm Boss. The MS 181 is a very welcomed addition to my overall capability, and its several pounds lighter in weight, and it does the job well. For its size, there is plenty of power. I am quite ... read more satisfied with this purchase and recommend the saw as a lightweight saw that carries the reputation of a Stihl.

Easy to start, this chainsaw is a pleasure to use.
I love this chainsaw! Stihl is a little more expensive than other brands, but if you want quality and dependability, it is well worth it. When buying this saw the salesman at the local Rural King which is a Stihl dealer showed me every feature and made suggestions to what my needs in a chainsaw would be, after settling on the MS250 he started it for me to make sure it ran, and said if there is any problems to bring it back to their full service dept. You cant get quality and service like that at any box store!

powerful, handy, easy start, low vibration
I use my saw around the farm. Have put about 12 hours on it. Easy start, plenty of power, and runs great. The best part is my hands don't vibrate when I shut it down. It is well balanced and easy to handle. The only thing is that it uses a little more fuel than my old one, but does have more power.

    Excellent starter saw
This saw is amazing. It's the first chainsaw I have purchased and have cut a full cord of wood with it already no problem. Easy to use chain tensioner, gas and oil caps and very easy to clean. A little loud but no complaints. I have cut trees up to almost 3 feet in diameter no problem. Of course, the bigger the diameter, the longer it will take to cut through. But for trees about a foot in diameter, this saw cuts through them like butter. Very easy to start. Uh don't know what else to say but I ... read more highly recommend this to any homeowner who owns alot of property with forest.

    Great light saw
I needed to clear a fence line of trees. There were two trees that were 12" & 18" at the base. The rest of the fence line was made up of about 20 trees under 3" in diameter. This little saw did the job easily. It is very light and has plenty of power for small jobs. It was comfortable enough to hold overhead for a few limbs. Gas tank is a bit small, but I'd rather have a light saw. This saw paid for itself with the first job several times over vs. hiring someone. The saw starts very easily and ... read more runs as long as it has gas. Same oil mix as my FS 90R trimmer, which is great. It's a great little saw for infrequent use.

    used it for everything
I bought this saw three months ago for a small tree cutting service I run. So far I have used this saw to cut a red oak from the top down, I have cut down about a dozen dead trees with it and often used it to limb. the saw AV is great, and the weight and power ratio are good. the saw is easily maintainable by anyone and the 14 inch bar is great for tight spaces. this saw has earned a place next to my larger saws.

    Great small chainsaw
After discussing my needs with the salesman at the Family Center, I opted for the MS 180 C-BE since most of the trees I would be removing were under 16-20 inches in diameter. I cut down over 30 hedge trees this winter. The saw worked great and I appreciated the light weight after a couple of hours of work each time out. Larger trees would take more horsepower but that is the trade off for using a smaller chainsaw which meets my needs more than 90 percent of the time. The easy start system worked ... read more great during sub-zero weather, surprised it started!

    Perfect saw for our needs
When we bought our new house, we were surrounded by acreage and trees. The saw I already had was huge and hard to keep running, that's how our search began. Our Stihl MS 180 C-BE is light and easy to start...my wife is comfortable using it and doesn't need my help starting it. If you need a good cleanup saw for your property, I highly recommend this one.

    What a saw
This was quite a shock that this ms180 would be such a great saw

Not as great as I expected, but still a good saw
Main complaint is owner's manual stated saw was set up at the factory. Saw kept dying once engine was warm. Would crank right up and idle, but as soon as you make a cut and release the trigger saw would die. Solved this problem by increasing the idle speed, but not sure this is the best fix but it worked. Now the saw gets poor gas mileage, spend as much time refueling as cutting. Also seems a little underpowered and slow when I compare it to my poulan. Bought this stihl as a replacement for my ... read more poulan I was having trouble with expecting a " step up" in quality and performance. So far it's been more like a lateral move, not any better or worse. Not a bad saw, just not what I expected.
