a very surprised first time user
My first time using this saw was simply amazing. I had a bunch of pecan wood to work up that will eventually end up in my smoker cooker. This saw went through all of it like butter and it was so easy to handle. I really liked the idea of no more filling it with fuel and when I was done with the job I just cleaned it up, put it in its case knowing that it would be there and ready to go for the next job. I no longer go out in the woods and cut several cords of wood and my saws no longer get the ... read more use that they used to.Now I leave them sit for long periods of time with out using them and when I do its always a hassle to get the gas ones going again no matter how much care I took in putting them away. ( my other saws are not Stihl ) maybe thats the problem with the gas ones. Although I have other Stihl equipment this is my first chainsaw.and I simply love it. It has more power than you would believe for an electric. Uses the same chain thats on a gas model the automatic oiler seemed to hardly use any oil, the tool less chain adjuster, and the fact when you let off the trigger the chain stops instantly are some really good features of this saw. There is not one con I could say about this saw except maybe for the price. It is expensive but when you get this saw in your hands and start using it you wont care that you had to put out the big bucks for it. The old saying you get what you pay for stands true for this saw. Hey, its THAT GOOD!! Thanks Stihl for a simply great saw!!!!

Easy to use and does the job.
It's light, and works great! It's pretty easy to use, and I was able to slice up a large fallen tree branch into 40 lb chunks to haul away without much problem. I wanted an electric chainsaw so that I wouldn't have to bother with stale gasoline or any other maintenance (besides cleaning and lubricating). The serviceable parts open up pretty easily, and replacing the chain is no problem at all. It's got a few safety features that will automatically cut power before the saw becomes a ... read more hazard. When I first bought it, I didn't understand what the spikes on the front of the saw were for, but I figured it out after using it for a while. I bought the shorter model since it was cheaper, and although it was barely longer than the thickness of the branch I was working on, it was perfectly adequate. I cannot really talk about reliability since I've only had it for a short while, and only used it once (for a few hours), but it worked without any problems for all of that time.

    The preferred saw of professionals
I'm a professional ice sculptor who relies on a chainsaw on average over 32 hours a week. As a career sculptor for the past 36 years, I've tried all kinds of electric brand chainsaws and none can hold a candle to STIHL They've always been the most reliable, and needed the least amount of repair. Other saws were either too weak, or were constantly breaking down; needing new on/off switches or major internal part. By far the STIHL is the best, All I have to do is maintenance, replacing the bar, ... read more brushes or drive sprocket for the chain. Hats off to STIHL....The brand name well earns the capitalized letters!

Cut instantly, my take on the saw
Purchased for the need to have a saw ready to go instantly . Must have 20 amp outlet . Purchased with a 20" bar and yellow chain. Experienced with stihl gas saws so I can share my experience with this comparatively. It's lighter and doesn't have that natural downward weight of the big gas saws. It feels extremely light . after several cuts non stop it did trip the red button on the saw. Just waited 30 seconds and started again. I find that if I cut a few cuts then move the wood to give it a ... read more minute break it doesn't trip off. It's only cut off once . I rate it to do the same work as the gas saws but without the need to fuel up. It has a window on the side for bar oil and the chain adjusts easily. This saw compliments my collection and is my first choice for use at home. I feel good about using the saw due to it being so quiet and non emissive . Great for use in the neighborhood and not disruptive . I have about 10 hours use so far and wanted to share my experience .

Everything I could want in an electric chainsaw.
I am a full time woodturner. I use a chain saw virtually 360 days a year. My shop is at my home in town and the neighbors have called the police on me when I used my gas engine Stihl ms290 too much. It has the power to handle a 18" log if necessary. Not quite up to my gas saws on bigger logs ... but it can easily handle them without the police showing up. I've had this saw for about 18 months and did have one problem that put the saw down for a few days. Stihl bent over backwards and did ... read more somersaults to get me back in business because they realized my need for daily use. I have never written a review for a product before, but felt that I should share my great experience with this saw. I use Stihl gas saws for my heavier work away from the house, but if necessary the ms250e would do most of that as well. I hate commercials on television because most of them are exaggerated bs. But, when the Stihl commercials come on it makes me feel like I'm part of something because I am proud of the saws that I own. Also, kudos to my dealer. Great for Average Homeowner
I use a chainsaw primarily to cut firewood and fell the occasional dead tree on our 1/3 acre homesite. Although I have long experience with gas-powered chainsaws, I sometimes went six months without using mine, and consequently it would be hard to start and require more time nurturing it than using it. I traded in my gas-powered Stihl for this one and have been amazed at its power, cutting speed, light weight, maneuverability, and durability. I only need a 25' extension cord to reach our ... read more firewood stack, and with the 100' cord I use for my electric lawnmower I can reach all corners of our lot. I bought the 16" bar and have cut oak logs two feet in diameter with no problem. I maintain chain sharpness with a manual file and don't have to worry about fuel mixtures or winter storage. I've been using it for over a year and believe its superior construction and my infrequent usage ensures that it will give me many years of trouble-free service. I recommend this model strongly.

    Really powerful
I was surprised at how powerful the saw was. Very high quality. It cut through the limbs like there were butter. I usually use a heavy duty Stihl gas saw but after 10 years of service I gave it to my son.

    Great light saw for trimming
I really like this saw for light duty around the home. The only downside is that the battery takes a long time to charge. Could you design a fast quick rate charger?
