A bike-handle trimmer ideal for challenging cutting locations, like in ditches or around ponds.

FS 240
FS 240 is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beast Mode! Need a weedeater, brush cutter, light brush hog? Look no further. Add a chipper tooth blade and this will run through saplings like grass and 3-4 inch trees with ease. Makes brush clearing a breeze. No stooping with chainsaw or hedge trimmers. If it can't be cut with this running .095 X line or blade, move to something in the MS line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unstoppable and reliable In 2 years I had 4 different trimmers from 4 different manufacturers. None were very reliable and didn't stand up to rugged use. Finally I paid the price to buy a STIHL professional FS 240 trimmer. This is the best trimmer I ever owned. It starts easily and every time and has the power to cut through the toughest grass and weeds. I have a very large property and have yet to find any grass or very thick weeds that will bog down this trimmer. It has been used for 6 to 8 hours straight and I have not found anything (short of small trees and hidden rocks) that will stop this trimmer. I've had this for a year and wish I bought this years ago!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Starts immediately, does not get bogged down by grass or weeds. This weed eater is the best I have ever owned. It starts on the first three pulls every time. i can cut grass all day with it and it does not use a lot of gas. It has a large tank so I can run it for a long time before i need to refill it. It can cut any grass, weed or brush without being bogged down or stopping. Great weed eater.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm in love! I'm a 30-year old, 150 pound woman, and I love this machine! I have multiple acres covered in brush, and this trimmer cuts through most anything like butter. It is easy to start (a huge plus!), easy to use, and is powerful enough to do most the work for you. At only 15 pounds, the machine is quite manageable, but the harness sling carries the weight comfortably, and the adjustable handle bars make the fit perfect to your build. In short, super easy to use, and effective!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good product EXCEPT the how the shaft attaches to the head We have an inventory of dozens of these Stihl weed whackers. We have 250s (older model) and the newer 240s. We use the bike handlebar and also a commercial no-bump stationary head. The older trimmers were better in my opinion. The 240s have a design flaw. Where the shaft connects to the head is a bad design and weak material. We have 4 of the 250s which are not very old, that the head is spinning on the shaft. Pulled them apart to discover where the tightening bolt attaches to the head has snapped off, and the receiving end is now missing about 1/4 of the circumference. To get this piece off to replace it, requires taking apart the ENTIRE machine. It's a weak point in the construction with no easy access. I foresee huge repair bills for these. Very sad to say.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stout, reliable Get the harness set up before you begin to use the trimmer. It is not difficult but the harness may not stay in the best position during use. Could be locked down better once set.I am using the saw tooth blade mostly. Cuts as described. Removed the shroud for briars and vines. Whole lot easier.I wish it had a rotating head to get limbs that are about head high or a little higher.Weed eater works terrific. Don't blink. Using this to cut trails on a 40 acre plot that has never been cleared.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome cleaning s̶a̶w̶ trimmer! I’ve owned the FS460 for several years and its amazing around the farm. I’m in Shenandoah Valley, VA where there's lots of rocks in my hay fields, places a tractor and mower can’t go. Because of this, thistle and woody growth appear that is hard to cut. The FS460 destroys it, even cedars up to an inch in diameter, but its heavy for all day work. I bought the FS240 on a whim at my dealer and use it to cut heavy, tall grass, thistle, small autumn olive and the other woody weeds with ease using Stihl commercial square line. I soak the line overnight which makes a huge difference with line feeding. I can go all day with the FS240…its lightweight and powerful enough to get some serious work done. If you don’t need a blade, the FS240 is the clear choice. My only gripe are Stihl harnesses, which are not made for long torso/ tall people. On some terrain I have to stoop over which isn’t comfortable (I’m 6’ 2”). Given company headquarters are in Germany, where many tall people are, I would think harnesses would have a little more adjustment or trimmers could have adjustable length shafts to extend the head out a little farther. Some have said Husqvarna Pro harnesses are better due to more and thicker padding and additional adjustment that Stihl does not have. I hate to buy Husqvarna being a Stihl guy but comfort is important.
