    Quiet, Powerful
I have been considering the battery powered line of tools from Stihl, because I hate when a tool won't start. For tools that I use a lot, weed eater, blower, etc, this is not a problem. Even my small (021) chainsaw runs often enough so that I don't usually have a problem. But my hedge trimmer, and my large saw, don't get used all that often, and I am always concerned that I need to fully drain the tank, and carb each time I use them. So when I decided to get a pole pruner, I looked at the ... read more battery line again. It is more expensive to start. For the complete set, battery, charger and tool, it cost about 25% more, but now I have the charger, and a battery, so if I decide to replace another tool, I will definitely consider battery power. So on to the meat of the review: The saw has plenty of power for the trimming I was doing. I was trimming branches 6-8" in diameter, and it didn't bog down at all. I used it for about an hour (obviously not running the saw all the time), and I got tired before the saw did. When I finished up, I still had about half the battery left, according to the LED display. The saw was heavier than I would have liked, but still lighter than the gas powered unit, and handled pretty well, even reaching higher than I probably should have safely done. I like the quiet of the saw, if for nothing else, I could hear when the limbs were starting to crack, so that I could get out of the way. All-in-all, I am very pleased with the saw, and I will consider other electric tools from Stihl. I don't regret this purchase at all.

    Great tool
We decided to go with the battery tool because of the difficulty my girlfriend has starting the gas powered tools. This tool rips through oak and pine with ease, and is so quiet. Battery life is excellent, used it several times and have yet to find the battery down below 1/2 of full charge. The only negative is the weight, as noted by the other reviewers. We are very satisfied with the purchase and also purchased the string trimmer which uses the same battery. I'll review that tool separately.

Product works better than the gas model I replaced.
I have a hard time believing that some of the people writing reviews are using the same product that I am. Maybe they just have not used power equipment before. My HTA 85 is an absolute workhorse. I have 15 acres that I mow and brush hog. I have trimmed low hanging limbs all over my property. I have trimmed limbs back from my RV port. I have trimmed trees out of a bucket around my house and shop. Performs flawlessly. Sure, fully extended it can be a handful. That is not the brand but simple ... read more physics. Do I use this constantly? No. But in over one year of ownership I have only charged the battery once. I am a walking advertisement for this product.

    Better than expected
While I always expect good results from any Stihl product, this pole pruner exceeded my expectations. Great power, easy to use, does not use as much batter power as I expected and that is a good thing. Can't go wrong with this item and I would highly recommend it to my friends.
