    Home run product for me
I have several Stihl battery products (pole saw, blower, hedge trimmer), all of which are great except the line trimmer (weed wacker). The line trimmer's head is poorly designed and leads to a lot of frustration. All of the products in this line have plenty of power and the battery lasts long enough. If you have more work to do than required for a normal subdivision lot, I would recommend getting a second battery and the upgraded charger. This saw is great because you never have to fight with ... read more the pull rope to get it started. Better yet, you never avoid stopping to clear debris because you don't want to start the engine again. Starting and stopping is just a push of a button and a trigger pull. Great chain speed on this device, cuts really well for its size, but because the chain and the teeth are smaller, you do have to sharpen and/or replace the chains more often. Is really good for clearing brush because you stand away from anything that will stick or cut you.

Love this unit - does more than expected
My wife had purchased the battery powered string trimmer a few years ago and we love it. I had decided I needed a pole pruner and had looked at gas powered units. I decided on the Stihl battery powered unit - we already had the battery and charger. I have used it several times for many different jobs. It has cut everything that I have felt safe cutting and some I haven't. It is heavier than lower priced units but will cut much more than they will. I have never had it bog down on a limb and have ... read more cut some at almost 8 inches in diameter. I am very happy with this unit and will be buying other Stihl battery powered units.

    Better than expected
Little Pico chain. Not as much power as the gas powered version. I borrowed one (HTA 65) from a friend and was surprised by how easy it was to use and the precision of the cut. I decided the cost was too much and bought two other brands that were cheaper. Sent them both back. Counted how many times I could have used the HTA 65 and clearly it was better than a hand pole saw in many cases. I have made the switch to battery power for leaf blower and small chain saw as well. The positives out weigh ... read more the negatives. Push a button. No exhaust. Almost no maintenance. Less noise. If you are wondering why your shoulders are sore and your neck hurts consider what happens when you hand pole saw when it gets stuck or just won't cut that branch that refuses to stay still. You will thank the designers of the HTA 65.

    New favorite saw
I own a commercial apple orchard. I just bought the HTA65 but ALSO own the HTA85 which I have had for 2 years now. I considered the HTA85 my best saw purchase but found it a bit heavy to work with. So, checking the specs on the HTA65 I took the chance and bought the fixed length version. While it is only a couple of pounds lighter, the weight savings is all in the upper half of the pruner. But not only is it lighter but its about 1 foot shorter than the HTA85 , which puts the saw head closer ... read more making the mechanical advantage better and adding to the much lighter feel of the saw. 99.9 percent of my cuts don't need the extension of the HTA85 so the HTA65 is now my "go to" saw. Huge difference after pruning and cutting for a while. I find that I use the pole saw for 80% of my chain saw work now. Also, I can let ANYONE use this saw! No chance of kickback injury or leg injury ( at least not to the operator).
