The STIHL HTA 160 battery-powered pole pruner is designed for professional arborists, orchard operators, municipalities, and agricultural and forestry professionals who need an efficient solution for pruning trees, removing deadwood and storm-damaged limbs, and maintaining fruit trees.
The powerful brushless motor is powered by lithium-ion batteries from the STIHL ALLPRO system. A lightweight yet durable magnesium gearbox provides excellent maneuverability and control. The HTA 160 can cut branches and small trees up to 8 inches in diameter.
Featuring a professional telescoping shaft with a rigid square-profile design and quick-adjustment mechanism, the HTA 160 can be easily extended to an overall length of up to 13 ft. 3 in. This allows for accurate positioning and precise cuts high in the canopy. Users can perform crown thinning and pruning at heights of approximately 16.5 ft. without compromising control.
The HTA 160 is compatible with STIHL 3/8" P saw chains, such as the STIHL 3/8" P Picco Micro 3 (PM3), as well as 1/4" P STIHL saw chains, including the 1/4" P Picco Micro 3 (PM3). When equipped with a 1/4" STIHL saw chain, hearing protection is not required, making the tool especially well-suited for use in noise-sensitive areas.
A variable-speed trigger provides excellent cutting control, while the electronic unlocking feature remains active for five seconds, helping minimize interruptions during repositioning and reducing the need for repeated unlocking.
A durable branch hook integrated into the compact cutting head makes it easier to grab and remove cut branches. The chain sprocket cover includes a directional guide for precise placement and side chip ejection. An easily accessible, heavy-duty side chain tensioning system allows for quick and accurate chain adjustments.
All operating controls are conveniently located on the ergonomically optimized handle, which features a digital control interface, LED display.
A protective base is included as standard equipment to help prevent the motor housing from contacting the ground. The easy-to-clean metal mesh air filter promotes optimal motor cooling and contributes to long service life.
The STIHL HTA 160 features an adjustable overall length ranging from 9 ft. 4 in. to 13 ft. 3 in.
Refer to STIHL's battery runtime and charging-time guide to determine expected operating times, charging durations, recommended battery options, and compatible battery models for the HTA 160.
The HTA 160 is IPX4-rated, meaning it is splash-resistant.
Note: STIHL AP System tools can be operated using both STIHL ALLPRO batteries and STIHL AP batteries.
