Rated 5 out of 5 by from not too shabby just got it last friday a week ago it's not a bad machine it's very light weight has plenty of power and will cut down hay sized grass/weeds with ease was a little contrary to start the first first times from a cold start but is gettin easier as i run it more but i do have one little pet peeve with it though and that's the whole gear head setup that's on it while it does make the machine lighter i think that stihl needs to redesign it my machine i got it dug in or melted and perfect circle around the top of the string head which in my opinion is a very bad design flaw and is totally unacceptable i dont know if anybody else had that particular thing happen with their machine after buyin it i sure did it needs to have the same setup as all their other prograde weedeaters not that cheaply made gear head and plastic thing that's on the gear head but overall it does seem to be a pretty good light weight machine despite that little issue and i do reccomend gettin it you wont regret it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight and powerful. I have had it for a month now and I use it commercially. It works smoothly and starts on the first pull. The light weight of the trimmer helps battle fatigue on large areas that require trimming.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great trimmer This has to be the best trimmer I have ever owned. I have burned about a gallon of gas through it in the 7 or more hours I have spent cutting out my 3 acres I have let get overgrown for a few years. I have not been able to kill the engine. It starts on the first or second pull and just wont quit. After having several cheaper trimmers of other brands I got mad and quit using a trimmer for several years. I figured I would spend the money and if this would not hold up there was just no way to get the job done. Well it works like a dream laying waste to just about everything. Do yourself a favor and spend the money now because if you buy several of the cheaper trimmers you will spend more and wont be as happy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rough and no usuable power Ran 3 100rx trimmers last year and loved them and still do but we needed another and bought the new version, the 111rx. For starters, it never wants to start. Takes 5+ pulls no matter whether it's cold or warm. Second, while you're using it and walking from one tree to another, for example, it dies so we have to stay on the throttle just to keep it running (even after adjusting the carb and high and low idle). And worst of all, brand new from the day we got it, it shakes Terribly. Any time you're weed eating a fence or something not completely straight it shakes so much you can hardly hold onto it. Lastly, the power is disappointing. With the guards on, my homeowner stihl trimmer that is 12 years old will cut high grass better than this "commercial" weed eater. Bring back the fs100rx.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ran the 100RX last season, 111RX isn't quite the same... Got the 100RX for heavy duty commercial use on 95% high-end residential lawns, and 5% on high end commercial accounts last season. Needed to buy a few more trimmers, and since the 100RX was the best trimmer we have ever used, why wouldn't we get the 111RX since it was a year newer. We run both the 100RX and the 111RX now, and there is a big difference. The 100RX seems to run much much smoother, where the 111RX has a slight kick to it when you hit the trigger. Power seems to be the same in both models, though the smoother run allows for a smoother and quicker cut. Might be something wrong with our 111RX but not quite sure. The start/stop button on the 100RX has no problems, though it seems cheap, whereas the 111RX has the new button and it is fantastic. 111RX starts up in 1-3 pulls, whereas the 100RX takes about 3-5 pulls. Both excellent trimmers, just our thoughts. If you have the chance to pick between the two, GO WITH THE 100RX, but the 111RX is still a great model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful, fast and easy to start I also upgraded this with a steel head that allows me to insert two 21" strips of line rather than spooling line. Those two strips bend in half to make four cutting strings. I can do 80%-100% of the yard on those two lines. They don't break off they cut ferociously and I get to spend my time getting the job done instead of changing line. I am 54 years old and this is hands down the best trimmer setup I have ever used in my life.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dissipointing relibility Crank bearings failed in one and a half seasons of use in a municipal park setting. Piston, cam, rocker arms, and bore look new, no signs of lack of lubrication.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wasting time This weedeater has power when the string is short but with my lawn company we run with the shields off and the second the string is somewhat long it bogs down like no other it will start strong with it long but once you start cutting it boggs the whole time you have to let go of the trigger just to get it back to speed my stihl fs56 (homeowner) cuts better and doesnt bog down nearly as bad thought it was the strings being to long measured them and they where the same size on fs111 and the fs56 and the 56 still comes on top.
