Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made It has the usual Stihl quality and is made very well that is why I buy Stihl products. Now,, this trimer is easy to start and has power but it is heavy and not balanced, grip it by the shaft and it rolls 90degs. Using it all day will wear you out. I would like to see a really nice padded shoulder strap and some type of resting bracket incorporated under the motor, also the throttle trigger is two wide and is uncomfortable. I installed the blade and used it to cut brush 1" and down and it worked well. All in all I would recommend this trimmer but maybe try one out first if possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of power, easy to use. I had an FS 74 for about 18 years and it finally stopped working. After putting money in it for the last couple of years for ethanol related issues it was time to buy a new one. After looking at a competitor and other Stihls, I finally decided on the FS 111R. It's a little heavier than my old one but runs good so far, have run about 2 1/2 tanks of gas. I have found with Stihl weed trimmers the heavier the grass the better it cuts using just the standard round line. I have yet to run it wide open. One, with the power it has I haven't needed to, and yes I read the book unless under load do so after 3 tanks so everything gets seated in the carb. Follow the starting instructions to a tee and no problem starting. With first tank I cut a fairly steep bank with pretty dense weeds and grass, still not wide open and pretty easy to use on the bank. The only complaint I have is with my FS 74 when you would pick it by the handle it was perfectly balanced in your hand, this is engine heavy, no big deal. I have found thru many years of experience ( a lot of error ) buying this type of equipment , buy the commercial grade you can afford, it's cheaper in the long run and have had great luck doing this with Stihl equipment. One other word to the wise, it's a little expensive but buy the ethanol free premix, it saves carbs and fuel lines. One thing I like with Stihl, one socket wrench, one star torx driver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love My FS111R!!! Wow a real beast of a trimmer.. My biggest worry was all the things I had heard about the 4-mix engines not being able to run very low rpm for delicate clearing.. Although a 2cycle may have a little bit better low rpm control, this has been a non-issue for me. I am able to slow down and get right up to flowers with no problems. After my first initial start up, she's started on the first pull for me. The low rpm torque is amazing.. even in weed dense areas, I have yet to even come close to bogging this thing down. This will be a wonderful peice of equipment that I'll have for YEARS to come. Wouldn't trade it for anything!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product great features I've had mine for a while now several tanks of gas have been through it. I wouldn't take twice what I paid for this machine it does more than I ever expected. It can be hard on line but stihl has a new line out that seems to do extremely better than the original plane orange line I had been using. You have to be careful not to get to close to underpinnings on houses and have to pay close attention to what you are doing if your not it's like a skill saw going thru it I found out that the hard way. But once you get use to the power and cutting width you can't beat it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My first gas weed eater! I have a small yard and this weed eater might be over kill but I also wanted a weed eater I could put a saw blade on it. I was going back and forth on 2-cycle 4-cycle. So I bit the bullet and got the FS 111 R a 4-cycle. Being new it was hard to start at first but as I was using it I could feel it loosing up. You still need to mix oil in the gas but that's a plus to making it a lighter unit. If you buy the oil it increases the warranty to 4 years. Its been only one day of use but I believe its money well spent.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This product won't run this product only ran one tank of fuel and then it wouldn't run full throttle. I took it back to the store. They found out the carberater was bad. they had to order a new one. I have been without a weed eater for over a week. I asked to have a new one, but was told it doesn't work that way. I'm not happy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Poor line strength I would rate this piece of equipment good for light yard work. The line breaks easy and I wind the line in the wire head as directed and the line frequently breaks and get stuck inside so I have to stop and undue everything to pull the head off and thread the line through the head. Great engine though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to operate. A little heavy but it is worth it. This trimmer is a beast in power so the weight saves me time over a smaller unit. Like some features over my 6 year old 90 FSR which was very good with no problems.
