Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm, but better than the alternative! I bought these in the wood cutter bag kit with the helmet, ear muffs and glasses. Good price, they seem durable. In warm weather they're HOT, but that's still a much better alternative than having no protection. Saws are dangerous. As others have said, they need to be washed to work properly, but I couldn't find the washing instructions without searching online.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Chaps for Occasional Use Got these in the Woodcutter Kit that STIHL sells. I have been happy with them so far. They are so easy to put on and take off that you really have no reason not to wear them while cutting! Buckle it on and go! The apron style is nice for when it is hot out, so as to help you stay cool. I like that the outer shell is made of nylon because it cleans up easy. Don't know how well it will hold up if you were to do much work out in the woods/brush though. For that, you would probably want something with a tougher shell than nylon. Be aware, I believe that these come in only one size. If you are shorter like me, (I'm about 5' 7") they should fit perfectly. For taller people, you may want to get something that offers different sizes, so that these don't come up short on you.Overall, these chaps are a great choice for the occasional user! Get a pair, because they are a LOT cheaper than a visit to the hospital! Even if you do get cut by the chain, these should reduce the severity of the cut. Don't forget to wash them before first time use!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from comfortable but short Comfortable but to short. Wish the blacks came in longer lengths like the orange. Note the 36 is from waist and is the longest in the black. Will you be getting longer size in black in future? I still haven't worn them yet to cut, in hopes of a longer black size. Really don't like the orange.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Shell is not durable Not sure how these got 5 stars of the 3 pairs of chaps I've owned these are definitely the least durable-the shell is sliced and nicked in several places just from normal use within a few weeks (material seems thin compared to the other 2 pairs I've owned

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Constructed - Wash Before Using Purchased these as part of Woodcutter's Helmet / Chaps kit. Well constucted and fit well. Not as cumbersome as I expected they might be. "Apron" description is a bit misleading as they strap around both legs separately. Glad I noticed instruction on tag to wash before use. Washing doubled the bulk of the inner safety layers and will no doubt make them more effective in the event need them to stop the saw. Note to Stihl: you might want to make that wash before use notice more prominent, such as on a tear-off tag on the garment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safety and Comfort After seeing my uncle run a saw into his shin I knew this was a must have a safety item. Watch the video on youtube on these pants and it will give you a real piece of mind when using your saw.I purchased my chaps in a package deal making it even a better value. The Chaps are extremely easy to get on and off. Other than them being a little hot on warmer days, you won't even notice your wearing them plus it saves a lot of wear on your pants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to put on, nimble to wearer I wear my Woodcutter Chaps in very wet conditions. I maintain waterways. I wear them over breathable chest waders in the winter. Just this past week I had to use them, meaning the chain/bar tapped my knee when a widow maker hit my Stihl helmet (awesome helmet). Everything happened quickly. But my waders didn't receive any damage and neither did my knee. Oh it could had been bad but the chaps worked. Awesome stuff Stihl!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safety first! I would feel naked without wearing these if I was using my chainsaw. Statistics has proven that a majority of all injuries caused by chainsaws occur to the lower extremities. These chaps cover the areas most commonly affected by chainsaw injuries to the legs. I love wearing these along with my other PPE. They fit very well and are adjustable at the waist and at 2 locations along the pant leg to fit the width of your legs. They are lightweight, flexible and allow a great range of motion to the operator. I like the black color chaps because the dirt and grime is less obvious to show.
