Chainsaw Protective Apparel

Chaps, boots and more to help keep you safe

Whether you're cutting at home or on the job, stay sharp and suit up with STIHL chainsaw protective apparel. From lightweight apron chaps to winter protective pants, STIHL offers a complete line of chainsaw protective apparel for every season and every reason you cut.

It is a great privilege being the number one selling brand of chainsaws worldwide. But we view it as an even greater responsibility to help keep our customers protected while using them. That's why our chainsaw protective apparel is made with multiple layers of Avertic® Pro by Engtex®, a cut-retardant material designed to clog up the sprocket to stop the chain on a gasoline-powered chainsaw. This reduces the risk or severity of injury to the body parts covered by the Avertic® Pro by Engtex® layers in the event of contact with the rotating saw chain. Our chainsaw protective apparel is also easy to use, so it has you covered – without getting in your way.

STIHL chainsaw protective apparel is also wash and wear, unlike some other brands that require dry cleaning or light surface cleaning.

They do what they are supposed to.
Second pair, first pair stopped my saw when a branch dropped and pushed the saw down on my leg. Will never use a saw without them, no matter of weather conditions, any one that thinks they are childs play stand a good chance of learning to walk on one leg or worse. Best investment you can make.

    Don’t leave Home without them!
Have been cutting wood since 13. I’m 63 and now cut for a hobby! Never would have worn these in my younger days. The chaps protect your legs from briars, limbs and a little softer to kneel if your working a bigger log. Keep you warmer in the cold and don’t notice them in the heat. Keeps my under clothing in better shape. Hope I never have to find out if they “really” work but will never cut without them now that I know all of the other benefits!

    Comfortable
I rethought how I was working using a chainsaw and decided to significantly improve the safety aspects of my work. These chaps were perfect to help protect me from the most common chain saw accidents. I am six feet tall and moderate build, and the 36" chaps fit perfectly. They are comfortable, easily adjusted, and have some great features like reinforced black knees when you have to kneel in the ground. Even when practicing the best safety techniques, I feel secure and confident knowing the ... read more Stihl Pro Mark Apron Chaps are there. Excellent boots
Had a hard time tracking down a pair but was worth the effort. They provide superior protection and are comfortable enough to wear all day. You can’t go wrong with Promark series products.

Warm, but better than the alternative!
I bought these in the wood cutter bag kit with the helmet, ear muffs and glasses. Good price, they seem durable. In warm weather they're HOT, but that's still a much better alternative than having no protection. Saws are dangerous. As others have said, they need to be washed to work properly, but I couldn't find the washing instructions without searching online.

    Safety and Comfort
After seeing my uncle run a saw into his shin I knew this was a must have a safety item. Watch the video on youtube on these pants and it will give you a real piece of mind when using your saw. I purchased my chaps in a package deal making it even a better value. The Chaps are extremely easy to get on and off. Other than them being a little hot on warmer days, you won't even notice your wearing them plus it saves a lot of wear on your pants.

    Excellent Chaps for Occasional Use
Got these in the Woodcutter Kit that STIHL sells. I have been happy with them so far. They are so easy to put on and take off that you really have no reason not to wear them while cutting! Buckle it on and go! The apron style is nice for when it is hot out, so as to help you stay cool. I like that the outer shell is made of nylon because it cleans up easy. Don't know how well it will hold up if you were to do much work out in the woods/brush though. For that, you would probably want something ... read more with a tougher shell than nylon. Be aware, I believe that these come in only one size. If you are shorter like me, (I'm about 5' 7") they should fit perfectly. For taller people, you may want to get something that offers different sizes, so that these don't come up short on you. Overall, these chaps are a great choice for the occasional user! Get a pair, because they are a LOT cheaper than a visit to the hospital! Even if you do get cut by the chain, these should reduce the severity of the cut. Don't forget to wash them before first time use!

Protect what you don't want to loose.
These are replacing a very old and worn pair or zippered chaps, which have saved my legs more times than I care to count. I'm am independent tree cutter for a neighbor who performs tree clearing in Northern Michigan and have seen too many accidents from chain saws to the legs. In my opinion, the open-back (wrap around) chaps move too much on the leg for good, solid protection. Have tried different styles/mfg. of cutting chaps over thirty years, and keep coming back to Stihl brand. Does get ... read more sweaty around legs during summer use, but keeps legs and body warm during winter use.

    Best chaps available!
I have had two close calls over 12 years of cutting firewood (mostly tops). I wasn't wearing chaps either time. One was across the top of a steel toe boot, and the other caught the back of my left leg while I was pulling brush with my right hand. I wasn't injured either time, but I always thought chaps were stupid because they left the back of your leg exposed. When I found these, I did not hesitate to buy them. There are two robust zippers on each leg, so you can adjust the leg opening size to ... read more run them with heavy clothing in cold weather on the outsize zipper, and with just pants in the summer on the inside zipper. They have held up great to brush and briar busting and provide a lot of confidence. Don't run your saw without eye, hearing, and cut protection!

    Great protective gear
I bought these pants when I upgraded my chainsaw. They fit well and are easy to put on. The bright color helps others clearly see where you are. They can get a little warm, but I will take that for the protection they offer. I have not tested the effectiveness of the cut protection (and I hope never to test it), but I am glad to know it is there.

Extra Protection for when ya need it
I selected the Pro Mark full wrap chaps for the extra coverage and the extra layers they have built into them. I don’t see a slightly limiting garment as a drawback when you consider the protection they afford to the user when that day comes where the running bar bites you. Having the extra layers seems like a good idea with running the bigger power pro saws and why not while running the smaller stuff too. It’s become uncomfortable to drive without a belt on and it’s now the same way with my ... read more chainsaw equipment on. Just no good reason not to when you consider what can happen with a moments innattention. I reached for the full coverage based on the reviews here with stopping big saws, I would encourage anybody to do the same regardless of the size equipment your running. Get the best protection you can, you will never be sorry for the decision, especially if you need it one day.

    Best chaps I've owned
I've worn these chaps for 6 years, logging weekends in winter and sawing 12 cord of firewood during the summer each year. These chaps have held up better than any chap I've owned. The benefit of the lower leg wrap is evident in winter. It doubles as a safety and to help keep snow out of my boots. They are light and comfortable. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to buy quality.
