Great PPE to have when cutting lumber
Product protects your legs from any kick back that may occur. If you do cut the chaps the saw stops immediately before it goes too far, (at least on gas powered equipment). Great product!

Spend the extra for the protection
Running 661-R, 362, 210 and 171. Use the chaos with all as I saw my brothers leg scar from the kick back he had. Ain't good to not wear even though the extra weight is aggravating.

    Could have been bad....
I was cutting some scrub brush at a friends place and my saw kicked back into my thigh. My saw stopped almost immediately. I took my chaps off to assess the damage, chaps worked exactly as they were supposed to. I had a line of bar oil on my jeans, but did not cut them. It took 45 mins to clean out my saw, and will need a new set of chaps....but WAY better than the alternative!!!

    Protection
Homeowner: I purchased this along with a high reach PP800. I trim palm and oak trees. The helmet and screen keeps small trash away from my head and face. The design allows air flow that makes it comfortable, even in FL. I mow with it too.

Every One With A Saw Should Own One
Light weight, comfortable, and convenient. Just the safety that this gives is good enough reason to own one. It's nice to have head, face, and ear protection all in one.

Not too bad, but could be better
While the face shield connectors could be made out of a stronger material like steel or a strong composite, I've had numerous smaller branches and brush come off the helmet and face shield without any damage or breaking so far. It's a decent all-in-one protectivbe device considering there are so few of these type on the market.

    Love the value.
I bought these as part of a package deal that had protective glasses and a safety helmet with visor and ear protection. These chaps are great. Awesome value and really comfortable I am a decent size guy at 6'2" and 220 lbs and they fully covered my legs despite their one size fits all. The nice thing is they were half the price of more expensive chaps and they are great for casual woodcutters. Also they are lightweight and easily cleaned when they get sweat and dirt on them.

    Safety and Comfort
After seeing my uncle run a saw into his shin I knew this was a must have a safety item. Watch the video on youtube on these pants and it will give you a real piece of mind when using your saw. I purchased my chaps in a package deal making it even a better value. The Chaps are extremely easy to get on and off. Other than them being a little hot on warmer days, you won't even notice your wearing them plus it saves a lot of wear on your pants.

Well Constructed - Wash Before Using
Purchased these as part of Woodcutter's Helmet / Chaps kit. Well constucted and fit well. Not as cumbersome as I expected they might be. "Apron" description is a bit misleading as they strap around both legs separately. Glad I noticed instruction on tag to wash before use. Washing doubled the bulk of the inner safety layers and will no doubt make them more effective in the event need them to stop the saw. Note to Stihl: you might want to make that wash before use notice more prominent, such as ... read more on a tear-off tag on the garment.

    High quality hearing protection
When using OPE I have used hearing protection for close to 30 years and the only brand I have owned is Stihl. There used to be a blue/grey colored hearing protector made by Stihl, I owned at least 6 pairs, couple in truck, workshop, work, etc. 25 decibel rated. They lasted for years. Now I have the orange 25 NRR ones and could not be happier, the brighter color makes it easier to find the protectors if you put them down. They cut down on the noise from OPE considerably, also hearing ... read more protection is a cheap investment against long term hearing problems when working with loud equipment. Stihl has you covered.

Great if you have a big head.
On my 4th pair in 5 or 6 years. Won't buy anything else. Fit my big head good unlike others.

Top of the line. Hands down!
I was loaned a pair one day by a friend. I dropped them and kicked them across the parking lot lenses down which kills eyewear everytime. Right? Not these not even a scratch. Blew me away. I wont buy anything else anymore. If they dont have them I go without. Dried grass is the only thing i've found that will hurt them.

Best christmas present I ever got!
My wife gave me a pair of Pro Chaps on Christmas. I have been thinning some Pondarosa Pines on our 200 Ac. ranch and have cut down about 200 trees between 6 and 12 inches in diameter during the past couple months. Last week while cutting off some lower limbs so I could get to the trunk of a tree to fell it, a branch fell onto the saw blade and forced the saw into my upper thigh. The chaps stopped my Still 290 before it got to me. Not a drop of blood was spilt. I had to thank my wife again for ... read more the great Christmas gift. I am very glad I had the right safety equipment. After that experience, I won't cut without them, and I won't let anyone cut wood on our ranch without chaps. A lot cheaper than a visit to the ER.

    saved the day
My wife bought me a pair of these when she bought my 661cm. Was clearing a steep hillside with my 034 av super. Lost balance and the saw smacked my leg. It stopped the saw instantly. These chaps saved my leg. I laughed when she bought these as I had never wore a set before. Guess who is laughing now. Will most definitely be buying another set. These things are not near as annoying to wear as I thought they would be. They make my legs sweat just a little more in warm hot weather but definitely ... read more something you can put up with more then a trip to er or even worst the morgue.
