Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stihl brand is #1 for a reason. As a homeowner I chose the HT 103 model because of the telescoping 16 foot reach. This new model has an easy to use shaft lock. Gloves on or off to do this. The chain bar oil refill works great, but this is a gloves off cap to open for me. That's ok...I'm not in a race to do this process anyway.Day one first time use, I would start it up and let it run for a while to break in. I had started the saw and it went dead a couple times. After this saw is warmed up (30 minutes or so) it is good to go. You won't have to ever do this again. This saw has never quit running after the day one process.I used it on day one without any readjustments. After day two I did tighten the chain a little which was easy to do with a half turn with the included wrench.I have now used this saw at the neighbors house and a few others... you can easily make your money back if you wanted to with this saw. For storing this saw.I hung two rubber coated hooks from the ceiling/wall of my shed. When I sat the saw on the hooks, the saw wanted to swing upside down. I don't want to store this saw upside down.So I reinstalled the hooks closer to the wall so the motor of the saw touches the wall keeping the saw upright. Overall. I love this saw. I will buy other Stihl products. The hedger and edger are next on my list.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome for tree stand pruning! I bought this to help trim out shooting lanes for my bow hunting. Boy does this thing save time and really lets me reach out and cut branches. Spend the money and you won't be disappointed. All my hunting buddies want to borrow it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets the job done This pole saw is better than the thin blade saws. The thin blade bends too easy. Thicker blade and wider chain are best. The upgrade to a thin blade with a 1/4 inch chain is not a good idea.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stihl reliability is not what it use to be. Bought brand new! I saved up for this product for awhile since they are pretty pricey. I also own acreage in the Midwest so this tool is much needed. I owe 2 older stihl chainsaws and fs70 trimmer. I work sometimes 70-80 hours a week so anytime I have on the weekends to clean up tree damage from storms, etc is precious. After the 3rd time atttempting to use, it will not start or attempt to turnover. I run only the stihl platinum premix in the cans (2 year shelf life, 92 octane, no ethanol) and religiously follow the manual for breaking in, maint, etc. to include starting procedures. It also is now leaking chain bar oil from the reservoir all over my garage, also followed the manual for storage procedures and never dropped or mishandled. Now I have to take time only on Saturday when I am off to take down for warranty work. It use to be, when you buy stihl it meant reliability and something you pass down to your kids, not anymore! Only pro is that the pull start is easy to pull, I am disabled military so that helps. If only it would start!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken before first use. There is a weak link in the drive mechanism which makes the tool useless. A plastic ring with a short lever tab designed to connect with the short aluminum tube at the motor head end that forces the square end of the drive cable to remain inside the output shaft of the gas motor when assembled. The tiny flexible tab on the plastic ring was broken from the factory so I could not operate the saw. I am waiting to hear what the Stihl rep says to my dealer. Since the plastic part does not look relaceable within the factory assembled telescoping shaft assembly, I can only see very expensive repair costs ahead after the warranty expires. My first Stihl chainsaw is an 028 from the early '70's and is still in use. My newer 280 is now 15 plus years old and is terrific. Two leaf blowers and a power trimmer and I am all in for Stihl products. This new one has me really disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great product! I needed a saw that would eliminate the need of a ladder and a saw! At the age of 73, I needed a change! This works perfectly. Boots on the ground, and no more tumbles while pruning my crape myrtles!
