    Great tool
I just bought this tool and I have been use it for almost 2 months, i use it for very tricky rounds and it works great. Perfect ergonomics, nice balanced tool and very nice hickory handle, I think that the touch of Ochsenkopf axe company it's definitely obvious.. I'm very happy with the attachment system and the steel overstrike plate protection on the handle. Beautiful and functional tool, my conclusion is that this Axe do the job easier.

This axe best i ran across
I bought this after useing axe's from big box stores they where not funnest tools to use. I found this axe to be more effective and i got way less muscle aches after use than other axes. I had taken this axe to a knife dealer to put the sharpest edge he could.( sharp enough just light touch would make you bleed).after cutting 2 cords of wood still holds great edge (i cut black cherry tree and white oak) . The metal colar realy helps it on over strikes. It spit through every thing i thrown at it ... read more logs over 36 inchs.

    Stihl products are top notch
Stihl makes high quality tools period. I have split wood for years and every year I replace my splitting axe because all of these Home Depot tools are no good. Finally I learned my lesson and bought a higher end axe and I don't think I'll have to replace it for many years. Great quality, good steel, built like a tank. To answer the question about using the axe for pounding wedges, any time you use something to strike steel that's just as hard as what you are using there will be problems Never ... read more use your expensive tools like this axe to hit steel, regardless of what stihl says. The handle will loosen no matter what. Buy cheap sledge hammers to pound wedges.

BEST CHOICE for Limbing Densely-Limbed Brush & Trees !
The handle usually takes a real beating when performing in the above conditions. The steel sleeve really protects well from contact with other nearby limbs. This axe has a longer handle than the Pro Splitting Hatchet which makes knocking in wedges on big timber a whole lot easier. This is a super double-duty tool!

Needs work straight out of the box
first of all let me start off by saying this a great forrest axe, jack of all trades master of none. Also i may add that i cut a full cord of blocks and turned it into kindling with this very axe. However, the handle comes with a thick red dipped paint on the end that literally has beads of dry paint which has already cracked, the lacquer is slippery and generally no ta pleasing or a natural feeling on your hands especially if your out there swinging 3 plus hours straight. i used commercial ... read more grade furniture striper, and removed that paint and lacquer ( took 2 coats). i was able to make the fawns foot a bit more pronounced and rounded with a rasp and then i went up the grits on my sander and brought it to 150 (my favourite texture for hand tools). finally i oiled it up with tung and teak oil. Better looking, better feeling, better axe. BUT KEEP IN MIND, for 30-40$ more, you could buy a hand forged sweedish steel axe that already has a handle with no red paint :)

    Well designed
This tool was very expensive, but compared to miserable alternatives in the hardware store or the box merchants, my boys will be fighting over this one when I am gone. Someone was griping about the paint on the handle. Do I like it? No. But i can find it in the brush when I lay it down. Yes, it will need some braking in. I love the collar. I am getting older and miss more often. But it saves the handle. It reminds me to pay attention. I am going to buy the smaller axe/hatchett for kindling. This ... read more is a fine tool for splitting freshly cut wood up to 12 inches in diameter. My only request is don't screw it up.

    Packs a punch!
I was amazed how effortless it was to cut off thick branches with this lopper. I felt like I did not have to use any excessive amount of force like other cheaper ones I bought in the past from the garden department of the the big box stores. This tool is well made and very lightweight. I was delighted by the ease of the handling and the rubber soft grips were very nice to hold onto. The blades are razor sharp!!!

Very well made and razor sharp
I recently moved and had bushes and shrubs that had been neglected for some time at the new house...bought these and made art out of a mess in no time...extremely sharp...hold an edge very well...i even cut branches a little too big for these shears and went right through it without a single mark on the blades....very light tool you will not get fatigued even after a couple hours of use..zero effort to get the cut you want...you always get what you pay for and at 3 times the price of junk wooden ... read more and plastic shears made in china I am confident I will get 10 times the usage out of them..stihl has never disappointed me...this although not made in usa is made in Japan which is known to have extremely top notch cutlery..don't turn your yard work into a nightmare with junk...buy this and don't look back

They are light weight and balanced. They cuts like butter.
I trim juniper bushes in our yard every fall. It usually takes me about a week but since I bought these sheers it took two and a half days. They cut like butter and easy to move around and trim. Should have bought them years ago but just found them.

Best hand pruner I've used for pruning apple trees
I have a 100 tree apple orchard that I manage. Annual pruning takes a sizeable amount of time. My old Stanley pruners caused hand pain and finger fatigue. The Felco pruners that I tried kept slipping out of my hand as they seemed to be end-heavy. Stihl's PP70 pruners are the best by far. No fatigue or hand pain after hours of pruning. Better still, they seem to be an extension of the hand and are easily maneuvered around and between branches when pruning. I oil the blade and the pivot point ... read more after each day of pruning.. A touch up sharpening with the diamond stone is needed once or twice during the season. The price is a tad high but you get what you pay for. I've purchased a second set to have as a spare. On the down side, I've busted the spring twice due to fatigue, but Stihl has replaced it both times without question under their lifetime warranty.

    PP 70
This hand pruner is the best I have ever used, let alone held! The locking feature is easy to unlock but is very secure when not in use. The price may scare some homeowners/landscapers away, but the quality of the blades are amazing and can be removed to be sharpened, unlike many professional hand pruners out there. Amazing hand pruner for all jobs, from cutting flowers to trimming small branches! I do recommend the hand pruner leather sheath for easy transport!

    Good As it gets
I bought these and was so impressed I bought another pair and pp80. Over the red handled hand pruners claiming to be best and more expensive. Use non stop hold an edge.

    Best hand pruner ever made
Worth the price. These hand pruners last forever and will cut through anything you have the grip strength for.

    Super pruners
I love these pruners. I like them more than my name brand pruners. They have held up well. I like they way you squeeze the pruner to open the blades. They are indestructible and so easy to use. I have two pairs I like them so much, a smaller and these.
