Essential tools to assist you on the job

Logs don’t move themselves. It takes strength, agility, intelligence and well-crafted tools. STIHL forestry tools are made with the professional logger in mind and specially designed to lift, rotate and transport those very large chunks of tree. Whether you’re at the mill, on the lot, or deep in the woods, our forestry tools give you the leverage you need to help make the work easier.

Our forestry tools include essentials like cant hooks, peaveys, log carriers, hookaroons and a log stand.

    Best cant hook, hands down
Learned of this new style cant hook through the Forestry Forum, and had my Stihl dealer (Niendorf Enterprises) get me one. Threw out the wood handled ones I had when I found out how much better the log and cant grab was with this new one. Not just for cants or timbers, but for logs as well. When felling a tree, there are times when the cant hook is used to just roll the tree to get it to release and fall off the stump. Invaluable tool along with my Stihl saws.

    A must have tool
I bought a 42 inch cant hook to replace an old wooden handled cant that sent me flying when the wood handle shattered. The Stihl cant is very strong, light weight, easy to maneuver even large logs with it. I add the firewood stand when needed to keep logs off the ground when bucking, as a combo they work great. This is a tool that any wood cutter needs in my opinion.

    Beefy tool
This is just a heavy duty hook that's easy to use. It's strong but not too heavy to work with. Great for your weekend warrior or professional tree company.

Jack 'er Up... Cut 'er Off !
This easy-to-install & easy-to-remove option for your Peavey or Cant Hook is an economical tool-enhancer. You can do a lot more with your Peavey or Cant Hook using one of these! There are 4-hex head fasteners (with tool provided & attached to the Log Stand). The Log Stand will assist you in limbing, bucking, decking, dogging-off for skidding, or cutting firewood into lengths. I suggest sliding slightly-larger-diameter "cheater" pipes over the ends of the Stand, on each side, to assist when ... read more using on uneven or infirm ground. (Perpendicular extensions on the Log Stand may work better for you in situations where your Chainsaw Bar may come in close contact with the extensions! These can be fabricated with pipe w/ tees in the center that slip over the ends.)

    Log stand or Log Jack
This is a great tool for lifting fallen trees. it elevates the fallen tree so your chain saw does not touch the ground when cutting a fallen tree.

    A MUST for all loggers
I have a STIHL Cant hook along with this log stand and what a miracle tool it is! I have used it countless times in the forest and I have lifted some VERY heavy felled trees with it! With the tree lifted, cutting the trunk/branches are a breeze! As I mentioned, this is a MUST own for all loggers and/or farmers that rely on firewood!

    A must have!!
This tool is worth its weight in gold and a must have!! The log stand should be included though... not only is it great for rolling and holding logs off the ground as you cut them up but it also saved me from a major problem while trying to fall a massive dead tree... after I made all the cuts in the trunk the tree started to fall then the top got caught in surrounding canopy causing the trunk to slip off the stump and free stand the entire tree on the ground!! After a few min of trying figure ... read more out how to solve my little problem I realized my peavey was there, so I put it on the trunk and was able to spin the tree (with ease) allowing it to break lose from the snag in the canopy.. without the peavey i would have been screwed

Excellent tool and very well made
My wife and I use this Peavey to muscle tress weighing well over 400Kg. It takes a bit of practice to use it efficiently and also to recognize that some trees just will not co-operate. Trees with really thick bark like Ponderosa Pines and Cedars can be difficult, but Birches and other thin skinned trees work perfectly. I wish the handle was about a foot longer though...

    Great Back Saver
I bought this because it looked lighter than the wood pickaroon that I just purchased; I have two sons so they can inherit the one I don't use. I was right! This one is much lighter, feels stronger and enables me to use it much longer than the other one. Additionally, it is shorter too which makes it easier to wield. It sometimes takes a bit of effort to dislodge it but that can be controlled by how hard I set it in the wood to begin with; the smaller the wood the less effort needed. Great ... read more tool that I am still happy I purchased every time I use.

    Addicted to This Tool
I picked this up after seeing guys talk about how useful they could be. I immediately saw the build quality and knew this tool simply wouldn’t fail. I anticipated I’d get a good bit of use with it, but what I couldn’t have predicted is just how indispensable this tool has become. All I can say is if you wonder if you’d get enough use out of it to justify the expense, , ,go ahead and buy it and you will not be disappointed. I use this to load/unload split fire wood, , carry rounds before ... read more splitting, , to help on the log splitter, , and to even move larger pieces around the work site. Don’t know how I got along without it.

    This is a great product
I've been using my new pickaroon for a couple of days and already love this tool. It's great for pulling logs out of a pile or picking up log pieces that fall off the splitter. Also great for picking up small to medium logs without bending over. I wish I had discovered this tool years ago. I have some concerns about the tip and how long it will last but only time will tell.
