MS 271 FARM BOSS® is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 419.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't live up to the Stihl reputation Owned the saw for a couple of years with relatively light use around the yard. Noticed it was getting progressively harder to start to the point where I just dropped it off at the shop today where I purchased it. They told me it will be at least a week before they can even look at it to add insult to injury. This is my first Stihl saw and probably my last. I must have got a lemon given the other numerous positive ratings.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Oil dispenser did not work. Sent back for repairs on multiple occosions. Will not buy another stihl chainsaw. Oil did not applicate as needed and bar/chain heated and dull chain. nobody could fix it. too expensive and the stihl brand seems to be changing to more homeowner oriented product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All around great product for the price! Typical stihl product as long as you take care of it performs great. Always buy stihl due to quality & reliability. As long as you're not a pro logger this saw should handle all your needs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from More Trouble than I expected... I bought the MS270 after having had a 70' White Oak tree fall during a storm in my back yard. Thinking that the chainsaw would be a great investment and a fun Saturday afternoon's-worth of work, I purchased this little saw. Please remember that this tree is approximately 20" in diameter so my chainsaw was fitted with a 20" bar.The good: Starts easy, Good Name, Good stylingThe bad: Chain will not stay sharp for more than a few cuts. Bought the "carbon-tipped" chain and it lasted a bit longer (~2 hours of straight cutting). Lack of power for this size tree. A Bradford Pear, Pine, or any tree with 8-15" diameter will cut fine with this saw, but not a real "Tree". First chainsaw was filled with straight gas from dealer and burned up within a couple of hours. Ace replaced it (Thank you Ace!) no questions asked. I am on my fourth chain, the tree is still 1/2 there, laying in my yard. I have spent about 5 days cutting and about 5 trips back to Ace for help, problems, etc. Conclusion: if you can't afford for someone to do the work for you, buy the Biggest, Baddest, Lumberjack, Giant Redwood-cutting, version of this saw that they make. Put the carbon tip on it quick, and buy two extra ones for the long term. Plan at least a week for the work.Do I recommend this product? Yes, sort of...for ornamental trees, slender pines, etc.-->yes. For full-sized maples, oaks, etc. Heck no!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best saw I've ever used Always went with best price but not any Sthl until I moved to Pacific Northwest. Have 2 acres to maintain with a lot of fir and alder. Winds knock em down and I get great firewood. I have purchased 3 Stihl products since moving here 2 years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving it Still early, only a couple trees down, but so far so great. Easy to start, keeps running, plenty of power, easy to tension the chain, not a single complaint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw I have a lot of trees and limbs fall all of the time. It was time to get my own saw and deal with it. This saw starts easily, runs smoothly and cuts very well. I'm not in the process of clearing out some small trees and it works extremely well. Love this saw!
