In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, STIHL Incorporated is recalling certain model MS 391 powerheads manufactured between February 2011 and June 2011. These products were sold throughout the United States by STIHL Dealers.
Name of Product: STIHL MS 391 chainsaw
Remedy: If you own an MS 391 subject to this recall, you should discontinue use of your STIHL MS 391 chainsaw powerhead immediately and take it to an authorized STIHL Dealer. The dealer will repair the machine at no cost to you.

Serial Numbers Affected:
Description: Specifically, it appears that in some units the flywheel may be cracked. This could potentially cause the flywheel to fail while the engine is running and, in certain circumstances, potentially result in injury to the user or bystanders. STIHL has received no reports of injuries at this time.
Location of serial number engraved on plate on the engine housing near the top of the bumper spike.
