How to Start a STIHL KombiSystem

Follow these tips on how to properly start your STIHL gas-powered KombiSystem.

PREPARING

  • Always read and follow the product instruction manual for both your KombiMotor and KombiSystem attachments.
  • Familiarize yourself with the location and function of the controls.
  • Make sure fuel and oil caps are tight and that the KombiMotor is wiped clean.
  • Inspect the unit to make sure nothing is missing, loose, or broken.
  • Make sure the attachment is properly fitted.
  • Always wear proper protective gear, designed and rated for your task, such as boots, chaps, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and/or helmet.

STARTING

  • Only couple and decouple attachments when the KombiMotor is off.
  • Place the KombiMotor on flat ground, making sure the entire area around the unit is clear and free from all obstructions.
  • Depress the fuel pump a minimum of five times and move the control lever to the cold-start position.
  • Use your left hand to firmly hold the unit against the ground.
  • Pull on starter rope steadily. Continue pulling until the unit starts.
  • Once started, engage the throttle trigger lock and squeeze the throttle.
  • The control lever should automatically switch to the warm-start position.
  • Note: If the unit won’t start or stay started when using the cold-start position, repeat the starting procedure with the control lever in the warm-start position.
  • Warm up the engine by pulling the throttle a few times.
  • Release the throttle control lock before moving into working position.
  • If anyone approaches while operating the KombiSystem, release the throttle immediately and turn the unit off.
