Make sure fuel and oil caps are tight and that the cut-off machine is wiped clean.
Inspect the unit to make sure nothing is missing, loose, or broken and that the cutting wheel is properly fitted.
Always wear proper protective gear, designed and rated for your task, such as boots, chaps, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and a helmet.
Starting
Place the machine on flat ground in a clear area. Make sure that the wheel is free from the ground and other obstructions.
Depress the throttle interlock and throttle trigger at the same time and move the on/off switch to the start position. Release trigger and interlock.
Set choke to the cold-start position, if so equipped (consult manual).
Press the compression button.
If equipped with a purge pump, depress it a minimum of five times.
Use your right hand to grip and slowly pull starter handle until you feel slight resistance, then give a brisk, full pull.
Repeat until you hear the machine burp or try to start.
Again, push in the compression button.
Move the choke to the warm position.
Pull the starter handle using the same technique as before until the cut-off machine starts.
Once started, squeeze the throttle lightly for 30 seconds to warm up the engine.
If wheel turns at idle, adjust the idle screw as necessary. Do not use a machine that turns the wheel at idle.
To stop the engine, move the on/off switch to the off position, making sure to wait for the cutting wheel to come to a complete stop.
