Sara Bendrick

Professional landscaper, Sara Bendrick’s passion for improving spaces through landscape design makes her a great addition to Team STIHL and an expert source of information and tips for STIHL customers and homeowners.

Licensed landscape contractor, author and TV personality, Sara Bendrick, is best known for her work as the host of I Hate My Yard where she tackles the tough yards of homeowners and shows them the possibilities that exist for their exterior spaces. She is also the author of “Big Impact Landscaping: 28 DIY Projects You Can Do on a Budget to Beautify and Add Value to Your Home.”

Born and raised in San Diego, Calif., Bendrick discovered a passion for art and nature at a young age that led her to a career in landscape design. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and studied horticulture at Cuyamaca College in 2005. Throughout her career, she has honed her skills as a landscape designer and project manager for several landscape design companies, including Sage Landscapes, where they won the 2012 California Landscaping Contractors Association Award for Large Residential for her design. That same year, she founded her own company, Sarita Landscape Design. In 2017, she won first place for a California Landscaping Contractors Association Award for small residential design build.

In addition to I Hate My Yard, Bendrick has also been featured on several other DIY Network programs, including Lawn and Order and Build It Like Bendrick. She is currently signed on as the landscape designer-contractor for HGTV’s A Very Brady Renovation, a series following the revamp of the iconic Brady Bunch house in Los Angeles, Calif.
