Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY OMG...I've spent hours on this stupid piece of machinery....The line feeder is so bad .Why you ask.1- impossible to coil up the line, you have to hold down the release button and spin another portion of the feeder. Which takes the strength of superman and the dexterity of spider-man. (that's assuming you inserted the line correctly and it holds which frankly you cannot verify or feel certain that the line has been correctly placed)2- It jams all the time and i mean every single time i've used it.3 - The feeder itself is a difficult to remove and service (you have hold the release down and spin the release in some weird origami way.)4- I use the Stihl line and it is not very durable and needs to be constantly fed out which leads you back to point 2. Plus it only hold about 6 feet of line per side.5- This is so poorly engineered it's ridiculous....by a ego trimmer instead

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenience Trimmer is excellent in convenience and ease of use. Great for immediate action on trimming and cleanup projects, without the complications of cords or handling fuel. The lightweight promotes use by other family members. A-300 battery has more than adequate capacity, with quick recharge.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Highly do not recommend this product very underpowered I am a very big fan of Stihl and their products. However this product is a rip off. It is severely underpowered. Also the line fed does not work very well. When I took it back to the dealer he agreed that it is a very underpowered trimmer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money! Worst line trimmer I have ever used! I have never been able to bump advance the line. Every time I have to take it apart and manually feed line.I have a number of Stihl products and they are great. This trimmer should not have the Stihl name. Infact it should be taken off the market.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great trimmer, line feed is bad I’ve had the same experience as others with the line feed. Nothing but constant issues. So much so that I just ordered a universal replacement head. The trimmer itself works great, but the line feed is bad. I love that I can use the same AP300 batteries that my other Stihl battery tools use, but the line feed is bad.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great battery life, light and maneuverable, too bad about the string feeder No one in my family but me can ever make string feed from this thing and I can’t believe Stihl hasn’t done a better job engineering it. It never worked from day one, and the dealer blamed the fact the line most likely hardened and kinked while sitting in inventory. I purchased a new roll, and loaded as per documentation. Still no way to make the string come out without turning it upside down and manually pushing the feed button and then pulling the remaining line with both hands. After talking to the dealer they said, ‘that’s the way it is with all string trimmers’. Basically too frustrating to use. I have other stihl tools i like, but this is not one of them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Outstanding except for the line feed I’ve had this for three seasons. I love the power and convenience, but the line feed system doesn’t feed line. I have never gotten it to tap out and instead have to manually fiddle with the head and pull each side out. This can take anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes, with the latter being extraordinarily frustrating. I also had to replace the charger after only one season. I stored the battery inside over the winter but left the charger in our unheated garage. While the line feed problem is perhaps a relatively minor flaw, it is really annoying. It is doubly so considering the cost of the unit. A cheap Toro does it better. I really wanted to love this, and at best i only like it. The line feed issue is an important one. I imagine the charger issue was a fluke since the replacement has lasted two seasons now in the same environment. I do unplug it though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This one sucks I have a lot of Stihl tools, and I love them and would not replace them with anything but another Stihl. But this trimmer head is a piece of junk. To replace the trim line is not a joyful exercise at all. And once in, it works maybe 2 out of 3 times, otherwise it gets stuck and does not pull out, or only 1 section gets completely pulled, and the other is stuck at 1/8 of an inch and you are not cutting a lot with that one.I need to carry tools with me to remove the head at times in order to get the stuck on out before I can string a new trim line. Too bad, as the machine otherwise is a good product, bht you can not upgrade from the auto cut to the super cut. Sorry Stihl, this one sucks.
