    Outstanding tool
After using an electric hedge trimmer for years, I decided to break-down and purchase a gas unit for around the house. Glad I did and very happy that we purchased the HS 45 because it is a real work-horse for any and all hedge trimming we have around the home. I must admit I was taken aback by its sheer power and ease of use. It is very easy to start and maintain. I absolutely love it and would highly recommend it to anyone who has hedges that need an occasional trim.

The best machine that money can buy and worth every penny!!
There is a saying that goes "you buy cheap and you will buy twice". This is true, when I first bought my home 5 years ago, my wife bought a cheap electric hedge trimmer. She used it a handful of times and it quickly started having problems such lack power, the plastic coverings were cracking and breaking at the handle, the electric plug base was getting loose and the extension cord would come out during trimming sessions just to name few. I picked up this STIHL model hedge trimmer and I ... read more immediately noticed the superior quality in design and performance. This trimmer is a beast and surprisingly very nimble and agile to handle and control. It's makes the harder jobs faster to get through without any problems. This device is lightweight, powerful, easy to handle and looks very sleek! Like I said before, money well spent!

    HS 45 with 24inch blades
If ever there was a great hedge trimmer, it bleeds orange and grey! This HS 45 has power and fast trimming ability on even on thick branches! I decided to get the 24 inch blades for off property jobs and it was well worth it. Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks: During the beginning of the season, it does take a good amount of pulling to start it up, but I found that the MotoMix helps cut that away. The engine is a little loud, but the Stihl ear protection equipment takes care of that right ... read more away. The fuel tank is very small but refueling is a snap. Finally, the unit does get a little heavy if you haven't used it in awhile. ;) All in all this hedge trimmer is well worth your money and most importantly, your time!

Great tool for home owners and pros
I've owned this tool for over 3 years and the change from an electric hedge trimmer to this is quite remarkable. This hedge trimmer will run when its 20 degrees outside with no problems and when its 100 degrees. The only problem I had is that the spark arrestor will get clogged up and will limit the power once this happens. You can either go to the dealer and get a new one or do what I did and just cut it off.

    Another great Stihl product
After using Stihl chainsaws, backpack blowers and trimmers for years, I recently added this hedge trimmer to my arsenal. I decided to spend a few extra bucks on this model compared to the entry level one. Better reviews and it just felt better. Anyway it made super quick work of our bushes and is extremely well balanced. I followed the manual instructions exactly and starting was a breeze. Initial power was decent but it gets notably better with a couple tankfuls of gas burned through it. I ... read more decided to spend extra money and buy the Stihl motomix fuel. Sounds stupid but for a machine that won't get used often, it's good to have a non-ethanol fuel in the tank. Pleasantly surprised by lack of fumes and smoke. Very happy with this product and I look forward to many years of reliable use. Oh... I also bought a can of the hedge trimmer spray. Excellent solvent and lube etc.

    Beast
This hedge trimmer will tame any kind of overgrown bush you have. Plenty of power to cut like butter, even through thick branches. I trimmed 20 bushes in about 1.5 hours. Two of the bushes required a ladder too. I would recommend using ear plugs as the engine noise can be loud and annoying over time. Even though it feels fairly light, after 20 bushes my arms were starting to feel the burn. Overall I am happy with the trimmer.

Carburetor didn't make it 1 year
Carburetor need to be replaced 10 months after purchase. The good news is that it was under warranty. The bad news is that it needed service at the height of the commercial repair season (spring). It took 3 weeks to get it repaired due to volume of business this time of year. Only thing that I don't like about the machine is the small fuel tank. Everything else is fine. It should be for the price.

    More than just hedges !
I bought this tool for cutting along 1000 feet of 20 foot hedges that were gradually over the years taking my property over. That's what I bought it for... ! What I didn't realize is that, the tool is also GREAT for cutting tall weeds, including Johnson Grass ! The worst enemy to our weed trimmers ! Anyone that has put their weed trimmers into tall Johnson Grass KNOWS the outcome is stopping and pulling the grass out of the spinning head that gets clogged with the grass ! So.. Would I ... read more recommend it ? Absolutely !
