Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stihl idle issues Would be great if it idled better, put in new solenoid and has helped but still idles to low. Im looking elsewhere for future equipment. Need to make idle issues right stihl. Older saws never had idle issues, even the antique ones.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from too early to tell pull rope snapped on second time using. Went to the ACE store that I purchased from to buy another rope. All they had was their brand, which didn't fit. Now I'm trying to locate a dealer that has Stihl pull ropes

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Spent much more time in WA Tractor shop than in my hands. In a year I've used it less than a dozen times and It's carburetor has been replaced/repaired twice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All in One Super Saw Great for what I use it for, cutting brush. Also can cut up fallen trees. Just be patient on large limbs and trunks. Let the saw cut through itself. I cut up a 18 inch diameter fallen tree yesterday. I have put app. 100 hours on the saw. Great saw mainly for brush, but can cut bigger stuff. Lightweight. I can use it all day. If cutting cords of wood or large trees as your primary use get a larger saw. If needing a universal saw with the main use smaller stuff, get this one. I love it. Cost is high, but I have found it well worth it many times over. With 16" blade I don't have to bend over as much or reach into the brush as far to cut. I would buy this again in a minute. I am now looking at a bigger saw because we have many downed trees. I will then have 2 Stihl saws. In the immediate family we probably have 10 Stihl saws. Very happy family.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn’t run well This saw doesn’t run most of the time and you can’t start it without pulling the throttle. It bogs down in wood over 10” to 12” .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good saw, a little underpowered maybe, starts easy Overall the saw is great for the price. I think its a litlle underpowered. I don't think it should bog down so easily. I give the saw 4 stars overall, but I would recommend the saw, runs great, just a little weak for my needs, lesson learned get a larger saw then you think you need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ground saw, love the easy start, mechanical fuel pump features. After cutting for a few hours the noticeable light weight is really appreciated Great ground saw, it does on the ground what the MS 201 T does up on the tree. I Set this saw up with a 14" Rollomatic E Light Bar and a Oilomatic Stihl Picco Super PS yellow chain. Cuts through Oak and Madrone like Butter.Still in the break in period so the saws power will continue to grow......This little baby is pricey, but, Stihl knows what they got in this saw.....you get what you pay for with a "Made in Germany" saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent power for a light weight saw I use this saw regularly for clearing blow downs on the hiking trails where I might be carry the saw and all my other gear five to ten miles. I too also own a MS-261 for this purpose and carry it when I know there will be lots of bigger trees. The 201 cuts great as long as the chain is very sharp. The small teeth do dull much faster than the teeth on the larger saws. I always carry two extra chains for this sort of work so dulling is not an issue in the field. In addition to be lightweight and powerful for its size, it is also very quiet and vibration free. This is a great benefit to those of us (like myself) who do not saw on a daily basis. There is one major drawback to this saw. If you get the bar and chain stuck in a tree (this is always a concern when clearing blow downs that are loaded in every direction) the bar and chain cannot be removed without first removing the external clutch mechanism. This requires removing the spark plug, immobilizing the piston, and then unscrewing the clutch. The MS-261 has an internal clutch so it is not an issue on my other saw. I would recommend this saw without reservation except for this one concern.
