I was undecided on this FC70 and the FC56. I wanted to save a few bucks and figured I would rarely use the edger, but in the end I went with the FC70. I could not find any reviews that compared the two. Here is the deal on the FC70. Spend the extra $40. You will use this edger more than you think after you see how well it edges. I would not want any less power though. At times it struggles in the thick overgrown grass. In this case, I just go over that section a couple times. Once you have a ... read more crisp edge, maintaining that edge is a snap. My edger starts right up, its well balanced after you adjust the grab handle, and its not too heavy. If you are using all day everyday, go with a heavier duty model. The curved shaft works just fine and it has a faster blade rotation speed.

    Great Value
I purchased a different less expensive brand a year and half ago that just did not hold up at all. Bought it at a big hardware store where they replaced it with a new one the first time it broke. It was one of those that you can use several different attachments for. The replacement lasted longer and gave out on me as well. I have about a quarter of an acre corner lot with sidewalks. A decent amount of edge work that needs to get done. I like a clean professional looking lawn and prefer to do it ... read more myself. I decided to replace my old edger with this one because it was a fixed shaft vs one that allowed several attachments. I don't think it was the motor that gave me the trouble but I believe the attachment piece you have to use just isn't sturdy enough. After researching different edgers I decided to invest in a quality STIHL 2 cycle edger with a straight fixed shaft(one piece). My old edger was a 4 cycle which was a lot heavier. I can tell the difference in cutting power right away and precision. It is very smooth and guides you through the edging. The weight reduction from a 2 cycle and using a straight shaft has been a back saver. I have used the STIHL five times and I am loving it so far. Bigger investment this time around I am hoping it will last longer.

Finally decided to replace my old Mantis edger that has served me well for about 20 years. I've had Stihl blowers so am familiar with the brand. Starts on the third pull, just like my blower. I am most surprised with how torquey this thing is, it has a neat sound to it, deep and kinda growly. I do a couple properties with it and by the end, it does get a little heavy. Nicely balanced though, and I have to say I am very happy with this purchase!

As a landscaper, this has worked great
I just bought this to replace an older edger I had and I am very happy with it. It has more than enough power to get most jobs done. I would definitely recommend this edger to anyone.

    Glad I upgraded to Stihl
I am a 66 year old female with lots of trimming, edging and brush cutting to be done on my property. This trimmer (with bicycle handle) is well balanced and easy to use. Starts easily and performs well. I have previously bought lesser models from other manufacturers...no more.

I will never own anyother edger but Stihl
What use to take all day now I can edge in 5 minutes. I no longer spend more money on string than I could have hired someone to edge. I am a 68 year young woman who can handle edger beautifully

Very strong machine. Can cut through farm grass and heavy weeds with ease. Excellent idle coupled with easy start.
I spent the money for quality. Even so, you never know what a product will be like until you put it to the test. The 91 worked extremely well in heavy weed, tall grass applications. It's easy to use and starts without a fuss. I would also say that the machine has some incredible torque which keeps it from getting bogged down like typical weed eating/wacking machines. Another plus: very economical. Doesn't burn through fuel as quickly as other machines I've owned and used in similar applications. ... read more I'm sold on Stihl!!! Worth the money.
