How long have you competed in lumberjack sports?
38 years

How did you get involved in lumberjack sports and when did you start competing?
My dad started competing when he was younger and I was raised into it. I started competitively throwing axes when I was eight years old. Throughout the years, once it was accepted and allowed, I started competing in Jack and Jill cross cut then log roll, chopping, and all the other events. As a young woman growing up in the sport, at that time, women weren’t supposed to do what we were doing. It was very hard to learn anything so I just had to watch the guys and try to replicate it. This sport has come a very long way for women and I’m glad to be part of it.

How do you train for STIHL TIMBERSPORTS®?
Work out when I can practice my disciplines and split a lot of fire wood.

What’s your best/strongest STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® discipline?
Out of the three disciplines you have, I would have to say Stock saw.

What advice would you give to young female athletes interested in competing in the sport?
Don’t ever be afraid to ask questions to other competitors out there, and try any event you want to even if it’s “not the norm for a girl”. If you feel you can do it, try it. Even if you fall just get back up and try it again. If I’m there, I’ll do everything I can to help you get better. We are all a big family and that’s what I like about this sport. We are fierce competitors on stage but when it’s all said and done, if anyone of us need anything, we will help whomever.
