Rated 3 out of 5 by from Heavy Duty, but Tight and Bulky I bought the STIHL chainsaw gloves when my regular pair I used wore completely out. I bought the Largest size available (XL) and they are very tight to get on!! They seem ok once they are on but will need some serious breaking in before I would say they are comfortable. They seem to really restrict hand movement at the moment so hopefully with enough sweat and oil they will be better. One nice thing about them is the thicker material should make the saw vibrations less noticeable when working all day with it. In my opinion they are a good idea but could be so much better if STIHL improves the fit a bit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good glove, but tight fitting due to extra layers The gloves themselves are a high quality leather and flexible, EXCEPT for trying to close your hand. This appears to be due to the material (Engtex layers) being sewn in the upper portion of the hand (also, this means your fingers are not protected FYI), without adequate extra glove material around the layers for flexibility. When you try to close your hand, it is difficult. They might break in but I doubt it. They are difficult to get on an off, which is very annoying, especially with sweaty hands. The tightness makes the Velcro straps unnecessary.Have not tested the actual cut resistant layers of course, but keep in mind it is only a few layers with a small surface area (2"x3"?). Would like to see Stihl publish a video of a saw at full speed coming down on these; I have seen individual youtuber's do this with chaps, and that lets you see the effectiveness of the chaps. But, chaps have a lot more material to bind the saw sprocket as compared to the gloves. I am not sure there is enough to do something here. Maybe just a thicker portion of flexible leather would work as good?? I hope to never find out!Had to order these special from a Stihl Dealer. Dealer didn't want to b/c if i didn't like them, he would be out shipping but I wanted the best protection. Have not seen these anywhere else by any other manufacturer. I tried to guess at the size i would need but didn't have any reference. I tried to use other Stihl gloves as a guide for what size i needed but while the fingers might fit good, the layers will make the glove tight.
