Great residential multi-tasking tool with a strong motor.
Worth every penny, well worth every dollar. Strong motor with more power than any other residential product on the market. A great investment, purchased the head and trimmer first and the curved edger second. Invest in the quick change trimmer head over the standard. The curved edger has plenty of power and it easy to use. Use premium non-ethenal gas and Stihl 2 cycle oil and your motor will run great. Change the air and fuel filter yearly too. The power and dependability of Stihl makes their ... read more products worth every penny, well dollar. GS in Germantown, TN.

    Very good fast start
The last Stihl trimmer was hard to start. I went to see my local dealer and he advised that the 56 line of combi system has improved starting. Boy was he ever right. I have the pole saw attachment and I have been trimming several years of dead limbs from a row of pine trees. I have been on this project for a week, about two hours a day and not one time did the trimmer fail to start . I wish all my small engines started ths well.

    comfortable, reliable, easy to start
I think they are very reliable. For those of you with burnt pistons , you need to buy the pre-mixed gas. Mine is going on 5 years old and my mother has an earlier model that is still kicking. If you think its under powered buy a bigger model. I have 3 saws, this trimmer / pole saw, a br 600 back pack blower and the sh 56 shredder vac. I have had no problems. I have two different backpack blowers that only made it one season. They were not a STIHL product.

    good but heavy
It works really good but it is so heavy after using it for more than 30 mins. Great for reaching those hard to reach areas without getting on a latter.

Ive always had electric black and decker hedge trimmers. Only complaint I have on this product is I didn't but iy 30 years ago. All the hours Ive wasted messing around with those electric trimmers all these years. Blades are SUPER sharp. Arm is sturdy and the ability to cut angles is truly remarkable. Cuts through better than average thick branches and trims like a champ. Could not be more pleased with the entire Kombi system. Highly recommend.

Great for getting under heavy growth and cutting the stems.
I use this alternately with a KM94R and an FS90, when clearing Heavy woody invasives such as Barberry, Multiflora Rose, etc......and I've used it to cut stems over 3/4" in diameter, and given a few seconds it will chew through most anything. The only reservations I have, is that it isn't great cutting through heavy infestations of Stitl Grass, where it drags down as if you were stirring cement with a broom. For areas inhabited with this heavy grass, I use the Three Pronged Brush Blade or ... read more even the Circular Chisel Tooth Saw Blade. The key to succesfuly using any of these Brush Cutters is acheiving a good balance, btw harness and brush cutter so you are able to cut hours at a time w/o fatiguing.

    This machine is amazing
I bought one of these after my homeowner version from a big box store failed. I can't believe the difference. It fired up right away and tore through everything I threw at it with ease. I tilled up several flower beds, some with hard compacted rocky soil. With my old machine I would feel beat up after just 30 minutes of use. With the Stihl I could go all day, very easy to use.

    Worked as expected.
I bought this originally for the weed eater attachment. I also bought the dethatcher. It came with the cultivator. The Weed eater worked great for clearing my camping property up in the mountains. The cultivator helped with my small garden at home & the dethatcher worked great for my lawn. A sunny spring afternoon was just a little brighter as I started my new Stihl power tool in just one pull, I was pretty sure the inferior man next door saw me do it.

The yard boss 56 is easy to start and use. Works great to get between rows.
This is a good value for the money. It is dependable, versatile, able to add attachments, and lots of power when you need it. My wife uses this and she loves the ease of use and the easy start. Would buy again.

Edger works well for prepping beds for mulching
The redefiner works great for prepping existing landscape beds for mulching. I have found that holding the kombi at a 15-20 angle towards the inside of the planting bed makes a wider edge which makes for easier mulch installation. The redefiner is NOT for making new beds, wrong tool for that. The redefiner is made for re-edging existing beds. Walking backwards to run the edger does take a little time to get used to, but overall easy to learn.

After attempting - and failing - to use my edger to tame back the St Augustine grass along my beds in the sandy Florida soil, I purchased this bed tool. Wow was my first impression at the heft in the unit. Remarkably, it's a joy to use. Pulling it backwards made light work of the bedding edging process. The line was perfect on the first attempt. I highly recommend this tool if you have a grass to soil border on your beds.

    Great Bed edger!
I have had the bed redefiner for 1 month now. It was challenging at first to get use to the fact of going in reverse, but you will get the hang of it quickly. We use this unit on all of our properties now. Our customers love what it does and how much better it makes their beds look. I would recomend this to anyone in the landscaping industry or even to the homeowner who loves to do yard work and is proud of their final product.

Clears through chest high grass and weeds
This and the power pruner were the reason to by the kombi system. I am not disappointed. This easily cleared an acre of my property that I couldn't get to with my mower and was quickly growing out of co trol. The Power Scythe cut through the brush quickly and pretty easily. It is HEAVY and I wish it was a little longer as well expensive but it did the job.

This really is the attachment that I bought my Yard Boss for. Picked it up today, and the dealer instructed me on how to attach it. I referred to the owner’s manual also, and it took me about 20-30 minutes to swap the tiller attachment for the dethatcher attachment. This was the first attachment switch that I have done, and I was quite careful. The next switch will be under 15 minutes. I mowed my lawn with my self-propelled Honda walk-behind, to minimize the height of the grass. I then used the ... read more Stihl Yard Boss with the dethatcher attachment. I should mention that I also have the wheel kit on my Yard Boss, and in my opinion, it is a “must have.” The dethatching was quite easy, and the speed walking behind, was about the speed of my mower. It has been at least 9 years since my lawn has been dethached, so the thatch was quite heavy. The machine never struggled, and I never struggled. The Yard Boss brought to the surface a nice layer of dead grass. The live grass was undamaged, and after mowing with a bagger after the dethatching, I filled my mower bag with old dead grass about every 100 square feet. Visual inspection of the lawn afterwards, showed abundant areas where the thatch was almost completely gone, exposing bare soil. After one pass, I would estimate that 80-90 percent of the thatch was cleared. After-inspection of the tool itself, showed tines in like new condition. There was zero clogging of the mechanism with dead grass. This is going to be a Spring/Fall tool for me with overseeding done at the same time. This attachment is a Home Run.

This attachment was perfect for my yard.
I was going to rent a detatcher, but I decide to buy this instead. I have not detatched my yard in 20 years. This machine cleaned the yard perfectly. My biggest problem was getting rid of the 50, 55gal bags, of dead grass.

Good product, a little pricy for function
Bought the Yard Boss to use around the house for multiple tasks and ordered the Dethatcher the same day. The Dethatcher was easy to install and use while doing a very good job of pulling all the dead stuff out of the lawn.
