Rated 5 out of 5 by from multitask monster-motor I'v owned this thing about 6 months and have string head, brush blade, and pole saw. I would like to tell you that I have used a lot of string trimmers and brush cutters in my life, but the truth is that I have only used toys until I got this one. This thing is a beast of a power head. It has as much power as most homeowner small to midsize chainsaws. You simply cannot bog it down. I can take the string trimmer into 4-5 foot tall grass/weeds on my farm and simply cannot swing the head through the grass fast enough to overwhelm the power head. The implements are very hight quality. You will read a lot of mixed reviews on the string trimmer head that Stihl puts on the straight shaft trimmers. They read, "breaks off line" and "difficult to reload with line". I'm not sure where these folks get off but this head is fantastic. Will it break off the line in heavy grass/light brush, yes. Because there is so much power that it fatigues and overheats the line where it exits the head after several minutes/seconds of heavy use. This is because the KM130 simply has more power than most any string trimmer's. Use high quality line and use the larger .095 or .105 line and keep the thing fed and you will not have a problem. If you can't figure out how to reload the spool with line without the manual in about 30 seconds, then you should have your power tool operator's license revoked. Other implements work exactly as expected. Pole saw is top notch. Overall, you could probably get by with a smaller KombiMotor, but if you are going to run the pole saw attachment, then you want this one. You could also get by with a smaller bass boat that won't break the speed of sound but. . . you don't. And that is why you will love the KM130. My only complaint is that they have done a universal tune on it and took away the high and low adjustment screws. They are there but require a proprietary tool to adjust the tune. The Idle speed is the only adjustment you have on how it runs. It also seems to have a rev limiter which makes you think it is running rich at the top end (when you have it wound up) with no load. It sounds perfect under load though. This does not affect the performance. Minor gripe/personal opinion. It starts first pull, hot or cold, every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful and exceptional build quality. This equipment has the power to go through just about anything and the quality is superb. Worth every penny paid. The engine is smooth and really responsive. Starting is easy and never more that 2 pulls and more often than not on the first pull. Attachment change is foolproof and I've gotten it down to about 6 seconds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from KM 130R The only problem I have is getting started from a cold start. Not sure I have enough "pull power". (yes I am a female) Once it has been running, then the re-starts are easier.I've always stayed away from pull-start type of equipment for this reason. Altho I owned a snowblower that had an auxiliary electric start for the first start, and also a pull-cord starter. This would be my only dream, is an electric starter for the first start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The KM 130 R ROCKS!!! Over the past 25 years I have purchased several string trimmers from various manufacturers. Yes, they were all less expensive but when considering the service I got out of them, they all pale compared to the KM 130. This trimmer cut through the tall grass in my ditch like it was nothing. I did what normally takes me half hour in about 10 minutes. It is well built, starts easily and isn't much heavier than my last machine. I wish I had bought it years ago. It would have saved me a great deal of time and frustration. I like having one power head to run all of my attachments. Only one engine to service instead of 5. I highly recommend this model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very powerful and versatile I had a 110 until someone strangers borrowed it one night and didn't bring it back. I liked the 110 but some attachments felt underpowered. When I went to replace it I upgraded to the 130 and never regretted it. The unit has never let me down and starts reliably. I do notice when it's hot and I am hot that warm restarts especially after it has run out of gas require a little patience, But as I said I think it is a shame much me as it is the machine. I am tall and my only complaint is that I wish could buy a 6" to 1' pole extension for use with string trimmer, brush cutter, and scythe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This time I wanted a STIHL I had a combo unit of another brand got tire of all the tuneups and not working 2/3 of time so I made of my mind to get a STIHL KombiSystem after owning a STIHL chainsaw it never fails to start and get work done. I went to my STHIL dealer in my area see what they had and man I was a grown man in a candy store with a big sweet tooth ha ha, I looked discuss model to the next I decide on the KM 130 R power head unit with the FS KM string attachment. I tried it out on some Michigan bamboo a very hardy brush I was surprised how that 130 R deliver the power to rip through those stalks without hesitation I only stopped because I ran out of line lol. I will be purchasing additional attachments.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken switch Bought this product (brand new) a couple days ago. I turned it on when I got home and found that the "off" switch doesn't work. Once it was on it wouldn't turn off and I had to use the choke to turn it off. I brought it back and the store confirmed the switch did not work.
