Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of power and great safety chain brake on rear handle I've used this saw for a couple of years now, probably 60+ hours. Plenty of power, never fails to start after a few pulls -- regardless of temperature down to zero degrees F. Just general maintenance. Gas lasts longer than my previous MS 360 saw. But the best feature of the saw is that its (Quickstop Plus) chain brake activates when you take your hand off the rear handle. I like this because I do a lot of sapling clearing, which means I cut the tree down in about 3 seconds, then briefly walk to the next sapling tree, then cut, then walk, then cut. Well, the chain brake on the handle makes sure that the chain is totally stopped when I'm walking between the sapling trees, which is far better than having the chain in free spin that is still very dangerous (potentially cutting your leg as you walk along). I've known at least two workers who cut their legs (not seriously, fortunately) when the chain was in free spin as they were walking between tree cuttings. So when I saw this special feature on the chainsaw, I bought the saw immediately, and kept my 360 saw as a backup. Great safety feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw This was a great choice in a chain saw to purchase. Has plenty of power for cutting threw the big trees. I would recommend going with the 28in bar on it for the bigger stuff. But in all great saw for the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great power to weight ratio I bought this saw a year ago as a compliment to my ms260 didn't really need it but wanted a bit more power in case a big tree came along this summer we suffered a ton or downed trees from a major wind storm and was I glad I had it in my arsenal because with the widespread damage you couldn't buy a chainsaw anywhere let alone a good one this saw paid for itself ten times over and so did its little brother what a great pair

Rated 1 out of 5 by from was a loyal stihl saw guy but cant recommend them anymore Was given a ms 362 for my birthday , have very few hours on the saw( 40 or less)under 1 year old, was told that the electronic ignition module was bad & might need to replace the carb already. went for warranty work and was told the saws only have a 3 month warranty I was dissapointed that I have to send another $$$ to fix this 10 month old saw. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw Love my MS 362. Always starts easy and runs great. Cut over 10 cords of firewood in a season without a hiccup. It's the smallest of my Stihl saws so it really gets used a lot. Very reliable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great running capabilities below 7,000 feet elevation. This Stihl chainsaw has been great to work with as long as we have kept it below 7,000-7,500 feet elevation. When we get it to higher elevations, the first tank usually runs great, but after refueling and getting back to work, it usually takes a while to get it started back up again compared to other models and is continuously dying. Without being able to adjust the Carb on the 362 C like you can on the 461, It takes time away from our job messing with it. Other than that, it is a great saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great performance, like the Quickstop. In 2002 I replaced an ancient 031 with no chain brake with a new 390. That saw ran through 150+ cords of locust, hickory, elm and whatever else was being thinned over a 13 year period. Just before that a friend bought an 036 that cost more than my 390. Looking back, the extra money would have been about $12 a year for a better balanced, lighter saw with a little more power. The 390 still runs, I just wanted to try the 362 C-MQ for the extra chain brake feature and the extra HP.The argument against the C-MQ I heard was the extra money vs the non C-MQ. Over the life of the saw that will work out to be less than $.50 per cord. I bought this for the same reason I went to a saw with a chain brake in 2002 and for the same reason I wear stihl chaps when I am cutting. Safety is cheaper than injuries. It broke in after about 5 tanks and continues to get better. I like the balance with a 20" bar and contrary to other reviews it has plenty of power with the bar buried, tried it on a nasty old 40" hedgerow tree and it did fine. After a day in the woods I like to use the stihl clamp on filing jig to true up the chain and it makes a big difference when cutting hardwood and big diameter trees. Hand filing is great in the field, just helps the saw to cut easier if the teeth are trued up .
