Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs another 1 HP This is not a bad saw, just not good enough to get the job done. You can cut small stuff all day with this saw, but when it comes to cutting a round off a 16 inch tree this saw struggles and boggs out. If it had just 15-20% more power it would be a winner. Conclusion, spend a little more and get something with about five horsepower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great replacement for my old Wood Boss 028 My last Stihl lasted 25 years and it was a difficult task to pick out a new saw. I choose the 261 and I could not be more pleased. Starts right up with plenty of power. Good nimble saw that preforms as expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toss the .325 sprocket Best power to weight ratio of any saw I've ever used. I recommend a 3/8 pitch conversion with an 18" bar . I occasionally run a 25" with no problems. I'm

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! I am so glad I went with a professional model! I had several lower priced chainsaws in the past and they were toast! I have trees on my property that range from 12" to 24" OAK and Walnut and this STIHL melts right through them all. Chains lubricate well and the chains also wear nicely. One thing for sure that sets these saws above the rest is the ease of starting even when it is cold. I love it and feel great about spending this kind of money for a saw that will "GIT ER DONE!"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT CHAINSAW FOR HOMEOWNER/PROFESSIONAL I own a MS261 CQ, the power to weight ratio is superior!! The QUIK handle chain break is a must for me, definitely a safety feature that I like. Serviceability, is made easy with the canister style air filter, and escaped bar nuts.Mine is equipped with a 20in bar, with a RS chain, WOW is the response from everyone who try it!! I LOVE MY STIHL!!!! We own STIHL EVERYTHING, wish they built cars!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Balance perfected I'm about 6 cords of wood into this saw and nearly 2 acres of woodlands cleanup. My favorite part of that statement is I'm only 3 weeks into owning this saw and still keep up with a demanding full-time job developing software. That alone speaks volumes for the 261. I'm not a pro arborist and don't have a ton of time to just be out in the woods. So, read between the lines a little further and I'm saying the 261's weight & power balance allows this amateur to get a lot of work done in a short amount of time. One Saturday a buddy of mine brought his 362 CM over and it seemed like the 261 was barely a fraction slower. Of course, on paper, we are only talking about a 9 cc difference, but I was surprised the real world difference wasn't more noticeable.I have heard the 261 works like a 60 cc saw even though it is only 50. After keeping pace with my buddy's 362 (also a freshly broken-in saw) I think I can buy that statement.
