Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great power and price for a small saw This small, lightweight saw is absolutly perfect for the land owner who has lots of down limbs, and limbs that need to come down "widow-makers". Living in Missouri where we get our fair share of ice storms, this is an invaluable tool to have. It's lightweight, compact size, and great power is a perfect combo. Another great product from Stihl. I will never own any other brand of chain saw.. I also own a Farm Boss from Stihl which is perfect for the bigger jobs, but this is the one I reach for more often than not. Thank you for another great tool, at a reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never fails, no trouble starting and running for extended periods of time. Best saw on the market "Bar" none. Years ago after making a major purchase of several saws and brush cutters Stihl came to our workplace, FOC, and provided a safety and cutting demonstration. We all thought we knew everything there was to know. How wrong were we. The info they provided we still use every time we use one of their products. Stihl's safety PPE is above standard as well. Helmets, chaps, cutting pants and shirts are a must for our operators and have in fact saved staff from serious injury. I cant say enough good things about your products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this saw! Easy to handle in tight spots and cuts extremely well. Starts with just a light tug. I was initially skeptical that it would work so well but I'm a definite convert.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Allows me to cut all day without fatigue, exceptional manueverability and safety. Trimming branches from felled Doug Firs, over 100' long, up to 20"DBH. Branches are up to 3" in diameter, most 1-2 inches. Made nearly a thousand cuts in two days. Also made a few cross cuts on smaller logs up to 10" diameter. Cuts like a hot knife into butter. Extremely maneuverable, allowed me to reach over and up under logs lying in heavy underbrush. So easy to carry one-handed while scrambling through waist-deep salal, ferns, fallen limbs or cat-walking along tops of logs. Seems to go forever on a tank of gas. Weighed at 7lb 5 oz with bar/chain/fuel/oil, felt much safer for me to operate than my prior 10-12 pound saws. Some small negatives: Hard to start the first few times when brand new, not sure if it's my learning (no prior Stihl experience) or just break-in period. After a few times it started very easily, can hold in left hand while standing, give a quick tug, not a yank, and starts every time. Won't engage if it's just barely touching anything, probably a safety feature, I quickly figured it out.Clogged up with wet woody debris after hours of cutting, had a little trouble getting the chain and cover back together. This will improve with practice.Seemed expensive until I used it for a few days, now I think it's worth every penny!NOTE: Two local dealers weren't aware of this saw, had to tell them it existed. This should be a big seller to older folks like myself (68) who need a saw that's extremely light. There's nothing else even close on the market, except your 193 C-E.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I expected We prune a little over 1,500 fruit trees a year so I wanted a light saw. So I forked over almost as much money as I did for my MS261 and got a saw that appears to be slightly bigger and heavier than the toy saw my friend's 3 year old plays with. It took me about 2 cuts before I completely realized that this was the exact perfect saw for me with the quality of all stihl products. It really does cut with the precision of a hand saw. The engine runs smooth at all rpm, excellent on fuel, and uses very little bar oil. This combined with the low emission engine makes for a clean saw to run. Oh yeah, let's talk about the weight or lack thereof. That's why this saw costs what it does (you can buy 3 Ms170 for what this cost) but you get what you pay for. It is so light, it feels like it's going to float off into the atmosphere. It's a great saw that I had high hopes for and exceeded all expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet saw for pruning trees. I own 3 other Stihl chainsaws. They all serve a purpose, but I really wanted a lightweight saw running a thin kerf chain for fine pruning, especially on fruit trees. I have owned a couple of orchards, and found they made much finer pruning cuts than any other chainsaws. This saw fits the bill perfectly! The cuts are very smooth and even, they look as good as if they were done with a hand saw.The saw is exceptionally light and well balanced. The motor has sufficient power for the fine cuts I make, but I thought it would run with a few more RPM's. (I am going to have the dealer double check the settings after I have some more hours on the saw). While I love the saw and highly recommend it, I do think it is over priced.
