Rated 3 out of 5 by from Design flaws The oiler system seems inadequate for this saw or there is a manufacturing defect present. Bar sprocket froze twice with new bar and only one hour of use. Over all otherwise a good quality saw. Help from Ace Hardware where I bought it was inadequate, they wouldn't give me a replacement. If the bar freezes up again I will continue to take it back to Ace till they finally honor my wishes for a new saw or refund my money. Finally, I bought Stihl as I see many youtubers using Stihl and professional sawyers alike. I believe it is a good prominent company, makes long lasting products and I was hoping this saw would be my last saw for the rest of my life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, Powerful, Great Handling Saw. Have owned many chainsaws over the years, including an older STIHL 028 WOOD BOSS but by far the MS 251 is the most versatile, user friendly saw I have. My older 028 has more power at lower rpm and is better suited for felling larger trees but it's much heaver than the MS 251 and doesn't work as well for light duty jobs.. The MS 251 is a great saw for all aspects of tree cutting. Transitioning form large base wood cutting to small limb cutting is seamless with this saw. I heat my home with wood and cut a substantial amount of varying hardwood every year. The MS 251 is perfect for the job!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A workhorse after it's started I have used this chainsaw off and on. It's hard to believe I've had it a year now. It is a high performance workhorse--once I get it started. I have had a high compression Stihl before, the 025. I can start it every time without a hitch. I mention this so readers will know that I know how to start these saws. The MS251 can be very frustrating to start.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from no mor stihll products for me Bought a ms251 used it 4 times: started it up (eventually) and went to hook up my lawn trailer. came back to find the saw burned up.... melted... it's almost all plastic.no one told me you can't run the saw with the chain break on. then what the good is the break? some of you might want that chain spinning after start but not me.so try and get new parts......only one source stihl! so did you ever deal with them?NO MORE STIHL in my tool box.have a better day than I had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw for the price I’ve cut about 6 cords of wood and this saw has not let me down. This saw cut trees/limbs of 8 inches or less like a hot knife through butter. For larger trees you have to be willing to take your time. It is great for limboing trees because it’s not too long nor is it too heavy. I’ve learned the value of keeping the saw sharp. I highly recommend this saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great saw -- powerful, quiet and comfortable Purchased this saw for cutting firewood. Oak, pine, sycamore and walnut. Really comfortable to use due to the anti-vibration springs in the handle and saw body. Easy to adjust chain tension with one bolt. Starts easily and runs quietly. Another great Stihl product!
