Rated 5 out of 5 by Most valuable single tool I own I know I use this saw way too much, but the combination of weight, power, and single hand use is absolutely incredible. Whether cutting numerous 1"-4" saplings, limbing larger trees, or almost any other property maintenance task for which a hand saw or loppers would be appropriate. This saw is large enough to handle most problems in the city and on large lots/acreage is invaluable to keep with you "just in case." The only downside to this saw is that it will go through some chains. October 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by perfect small saw perfect little saw. super lightweight. starts every time within seconds no matter if it's 20 degrees below zero or a miserable 95 degrees. This saw has plenty of power. if you think this saw doesn't have enough power you are doing something wrong. I use it for much more than I should from limbing anything, bucking medium sized wood, to felling small mountain harwood trees up to 14-16" diameter when I'm too lazy to take out a big saw. I used it ealrier today to buck some beech logs that were about 15" diameter. sharp chain and it cuts like a hot knife thru butter. my favorite saw I have ever owned. I've had it for about 3 years and haven't had any issues after about 300 hrs of use. April 25, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Plenty of power in a lightweight and compact design. I purchased this saw as a lightweight alternative to my MS310, primarily for taking down small trees growing in the fence lines. I recently purchased this saw with a 14" bar and have now used it twice. I am amazed how well the saw performs, even when cutting through larger diameter trees. The saw is very light which has helped me cut for several hours without my arms and shoulders getting tired. I would definitely recommend this saw for taking down small trees, trimming, and cutting limbs off of felled trees. Time will tell how the saw does in terms of dependability, but I'm confident based on my previous experiences.I found several features of the saw which make it well worth the investment:1# Size and weight - compact and light.2) Clear bar oil and fuel tanks which provide easy visibility to fluid levels.3) Great power-to-weight.4) Easy to start, just set the choke and prime the ball when cold out.The only feature I'm not crazy about is the locking bar oil and fuel caps are plastic and not metal #hence my lower rating for quality#. I prefer the metal caps like I have on the MS310. April 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by A really great saw for it's size Don't be swayed by bad reviews. This is a great saw. I got mine with a 14" blade and it cuts like butter when sharp. Starting is easy whether cold or hot. If you let it do it's job it cuts great. I've cut 16" pine so far and it's power is just fine. Looking forward to testing it on oak. You can't go wrong with a Stihl! Light and easy to handle with very low vibration. March 19, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Under powered This saw is a very lightweight trim saw. It is very easy to start and is dependable. I love the looks of mostly white. Now to the bad. After starting the saw it takes 3 to 5 minutes before the engine has enough power to turn the chain. It is very slow cutting and you have to let the saw cut on its own or the clutch will spin free. This might be because it is equipped with 3/8 picco chain. It just does not have enough power to turn this chain! Don't try to cut more than small limbs because it just won't do it! January 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great saw! Easy to start, lightweight. I've been very pleased over the years with the performance of my 280, but my new 193 has become my favorite due to the lighter weight. May 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by What a machine This is my first STIHL. What a saw. Extremely reliable, easy to start and cuts like butter. March 24, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by hate it I went from using the 192 to the 193, and quite frankly, the 193 is total garbage. Sure it's lightweight, but they claim that it has the same amount of power and it doesn't. I'd honestly rather use a hand saw than this thing. If you can find a 192, buy that instead. Seems like they made the same mistakes with this mod as they did with the 200 to the 201. March 17, 2015
