Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for around the yard I love this little bad boy! Lots of cutting power relative to it's weight, quiet effortless operation, and very light weight. I was just a tiny bit disappointed that it bogged down as quickly as it did when cutting through a 14" piece of oak... but my expectations of Stihl products are high for a reason! All in all I imagine I'll be grabbing this one a lot more often than my gas powered Stihl because of the convenience and ease of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw! I bought the MSA 140 for my wife and she loves it! She can take care of everything herself. NO FUEL TO MIX! Just charge the battery. So far, she hasn't run out of battery. I mean she's not cutting a cord of wood.Although I love my gas big-boy Stihl, I have found myself using hers for trimming and for cutting smaller pieces of firewood to fit in our wood stove.A great purchase! We love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw I was very skeptical at first and then I used it. Like others have said, don't underestimate this saw. I can cut 3-4 small limbs before I can start a similar sized gas saw. Its small enough to keep behind the seat of my tractor. I'm mostly doing brush and small tree clearing and its perfect. Definitely recommend this saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Own the battery line trimmer, hedge trimmer, Msa140 chainsaw and most recently the 56 blower. I’m fully committed to the Stihl battery line. When I bought the chainsaw last fall, the salesman told me, “don’t underestimate this saw, it’s a cutting machine”. He was absolutely correct. Use this thing all over my property, cuts anything I put in front of it. Now, I’m not clearing the Amazon but fallen trees, limbs are made to be quick work with this light and fast cutting chainsaw. I’ve trimmed every tree on my lawn, will make mowing around them so much easier. This is an outstanding unit, one of the best of the battery line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I expected. Beat my expectations for a battery powered tool, cut through a fallen tree trunk well and later cut down some brush, after 3 days use battery still has power.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This chainsaw met my all my expectations . Quiet/plenty of power/ lightweight The ice storms have wreaked havoc on the power lines and trees over the last several weeks in the upper Midwest this winter and early spring. This lightweight dynamo handled 2.5” to 4” cuts all day ( spare battery in charger) . If these are the range of limbs you’ll be working with most of the time the 140 is a solid performer. I’ve begun converting my gas and corded tools with battery tools and this chainsaw has been a solid purchase and excellent choice for my wallet and comfort.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight and easy to use Overall, I love the ease of use, However, after only cutting long enough to go down two of the four bars, and only cutting at most 2" saplings with it, the chain was already dull. This led me to believe it wasn't very sharp when I got it. I'm not sure if that is normal so customers don't hurt themselves when they first use it, but I was unable to use the chainsaw the rest of the day or other two bars of the battery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for me Have only had it for a short time, but it has done everything I have asked of it. We had an ice storm, so lots of downed trees and branches. This saw goes through them like butter. It is light enough that I can use it easily (I'm a 65 yr old woman), and safely. Runs for at least an hour of intermittent sawing with out nearly needing a charge. No fumes, easy to charge. Love this saw. Much easier for me than my 250.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Performance Quiet, and easy to use because of its light weight. Convenient because you just have to squeeze the trigger and not have to pull the starter rope as on a gas engine saw. Easy to adjust chain tension and to remove blade and chain for cleaning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for suburban yard Bought in July 2018 for major clean up of a large overgrown honeysuckle thicket, lilacs, misc volunteers and buckthorn. Cut many live and dead 3 to 4 inch stumps and branches. Between these cuts came much hand lopping smaller branches and bundling, so the battery was often able to go two to three days between charges. I liked the 12" bar for the tighter spots and never found it to be too short. The chain seems to have a narrower kerf than my older gas saw (I didn't measure) which may help its cutting speed and perceived power. I've used it almost every other day for 10 weeks and its been reliable, has plenty of power for the size of the work, and is about as convenient as can be. Its heavier than an equivalent power gas saw but I won't be wielding it all day so that's not a big deal. The toolless chain tension adjustment works well but the knob can be a little tricky if its wet or oily.I'm very happy with it so far. Buying from Jerry's hardware in Saint Louis Park, MN was pleasant, and they were knowledgable and professional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Using to clean brush in woods and works great Really like the saw in cleaning brush out of woods. Very handy to set it down, pull brush to pile & grab saw and cut more by pushing switch, plus light weight and manuvering in brush. Some what pricey compared to gas saws and run time is limited to about 40 minutes with recharge taking roughly 4 hours. I also have a gas powered Stihl MS 290 for the heavy duty sawing and like it very well also.Overall I like the saw for what I am needing it for. Would be ideal for average home owner..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough Little Bugger I told my husband that I was interested in an electric saw for a couple of reasons, the first being that we have a yard with some pretty stout trees that I didn't feel comfortable using his gas powered saw to trim up with. The second was that I wanted something small enough to put in the back bag of my 4-wheeler to deal with trees that fall across trails etc. without the chain saw being too large or deal with gas/oil sloshing all over the place. This little guy handles all of that. It's user friendly, light weight and gets the job done. Love It!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Power for its Size The size of this chainsaw is a bit on the smaller side, but when you need to trim limbs or clean up messes after a storm, it is perfect for the job. I have used it several hours on one charge. The key is to use it for the cut and then stop. Continuous use pulls the battery down faster. However, I have been pleased with how much I get out of the battery. It keeps going, and the last cut is just as powerful as the first.
