Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lacking power, Tough to start Had the machine over 3 months now and overall disappointed. If used as a shredder for leaves, there are two main problems. First the shredder blade does a poor job of mulching leaves and clogs easily with any pile larger than a bowling ball. Second, the collection bag is too small and needs to be emptied much too frequently which doesnt end up saving any time.As a blower, the machine is underpowered and doesn’t move anything other than a small amount of dry leaves a few inches. The “C-E” recoil start isn’t any improvement over the standard starting mechanism and usually requires 4-5 pulls to even get started.Overall, skip this one and go for the backpack blower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was hoping for I have a small residential lot in town with one large and two smaller trees. I needed away to condense the leaves for easy disposal and this works great! The only time I have an issue is when I pick up a larger chunk of bark mulch (thumb size or so) as this can jam it up. Only once have I had to remove the cover to clear the jam, normally you can use your finger to move the debris back out the way it came (powered off of course). I have not had any issues with sticks up to pencil size. I have read where people complain about converting it from blower to vacuum, but I don’t don’t have any issues with it. I actually like how everything locks in place. That being said, I can see if you have smaller hands where it might not be as easy. I use my chainsaw bar adjustment tool to assist and the screwdriver end works great at pressing the release tabs. I recently bought the gutter clean out attachment and it works great as well. My house has two inside gutter corners and it will not work very well on those, but it works much better then I was expecting on everything else. All in all I am very happy with the performance, ease of use, versatility, and being able to get stuff done with one tool. Much easier the racking and bagging!!!One last thought, both the vacuum and gutter clean out attachment will get you dirty!!! I call it my late summer tan, but I’ll take this over hard labor any day :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good blower/vac This blower replaced our older 55BG blower, but it seems our older blower has more power. The vacuum feature is nice for picking up leaves and mulches them

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Form, Fit & Function on the Planet! The SH 86 C-E has an Extremely Poor Design Interface for Attaching the Blower Nozzle and/or The Shredder- Vacuum to the Unit (The locking ring requires an additional tool to remove) and is not designed for easy removal. Recommend a total redesign and ensure the locking mechanism is of a modern tool free design that has a better surface to grasp when transitioning between blower and shredder vac. The plastic detent on the retaining ring is cheaply made and destined to fail. I'm Not Impressed with this Stihl product at all. Don't waste your time and energy on this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE IT!!! This is the best blower I have ever owned. I love that it can suck up and shred leaves. It worked perfectly and beyond my expectations. I would recommend this item to everyone. I think I might get a second one so my husband or son can help me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Anti-Vibration. Low Noise. Could start with fewer pulls... Purchase April, 2017. Time of purchase it was started prior to my leaving and fired on first pull. Used it for general spring clean up, sucking up leaves from bushes etc. and the collection bag was easy to maneuver and empty. Summer I was using the blower twice a week; blowing grass trimmings, leaves, general clean up.Blower started fine when cold, but after it warmed up, would not restart until it cooled back down (took an hour). I used it this way until summer wound down (not wanting to be without it during mowing season). An Ignition Coil was replaced under warranty (took 2 weeks). After being repaired, it will now start after it is warm, but it takes 3-5 pulls. This is not a “big” deal as there is not much effort required to pull the rope. -The "easy start" reduces the amount of pull required during start up. -But, it normally takes 3-5 pulls before the engine fires (warm or cold).Note for future owners: The owner’s manual states to use the choke’s middle position when the engine is warm. The engine definitely starts better in this position (when warm). Overall, decent performance, just have to pull it more times than expected out of a top-of-the-line model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent piece of equipment for the price. I am thoroughly impressed with this machine. The blower is almost as powerful as a backpack blower and the vacuum attachment sucks up a pile of leaves very quickly and reduces it to 1/3 it's volume, most of which I dump in my garden for mulch. Be careful when using the vac attachment because it picks up bark and small stones as well. This machine reduced my yard work time by over 50%. I would highly recommend to a friend.
