Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely worth paying for extra horsepower! I've had a Stihl 320C backpack blower for 10+ years and it has served me well. Actually, still working great. But, I have 5+ acres and 2+ acres need lots of leaves removed. I just bought my BR 700 Stihl backpack blower two weeks ago and I have cut my work in half with my new blower! Seriously, what took me 2-days of blowing with the 320C only took 4-hours with my new BR 700. If you have lots of leaves like I do, it's definitely worth paying a little more for extra horsepower!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for snow I wanted a high capacity blower for snow removal. I had owned a small hand held blower for many years that worked fine for the few leaves I have, but was only effective in the lightest snow. I decided to upgrade to a backpack blower this winter and started with a Poulan Pro. It would start after several (or more) pulls in a warm garage, but outside in temperatures in the single digits and below, the air intake would ice up in a few minutes and it would die. This was a design issue and not a specific machine problem. I returned it and bought the BR700 after I found out that Stihl blowers had a cold weather setting for the air intake. I have never pulled the starting rope more that twice to start it. Cold temperatures do not bother it. I have used it at 15 below zero for well over an hour with excellence results. It moves fluffy snow of any depth. The limit on firm, packed drifts, made with 30+ mph winds seems to be about 4 inches. Overall, it far exceeded expectations. Since buying the BR700, I have not used a snow shovel or regular snow blower. It helps neighbor relations because I can clear a couple of inches of snow from a sidewalk at close to a normal walking pace. It takes nearly no time clean up a few of the neighbor’s sidewalks while I am doing mine. If you are trying to decide between models, bigger is better for snow removal. The Poulan Pro is a smaller machine and worked fair on snow when it was running, but not nearly as good as the larger BR700. The high capacity does not come with too much weight. My 60 year wife loves it and uses it more than I do. One interesting phenomena I have observed when using it around a building or vehicle where some snow may swirl around and get sucked in through the air intake of the blower. As the snowflakes or ice crystals go down the plastic tube at 200 mph, they generate a significant electrical charge that I can easily feel with my hand on the throttle through a heavy leather chopper mitt. As soon as the air clears and it is sucking in clean air again, the mild shock disappears.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great product, starts and runs very well I purchased this blower last fall and it's amazing the amount of leaves it will move effortlessly. I live in Iowa and I have actually used the blower more for blowing snow then leaves. I haven't picked up a snow shovel all year and this cleans it right down to the concrete.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine - does what others can't You can't stop this thing. It blows piles of leaves around like they aren't even there. Wet or dry this machine will do the job and do it quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! Ive had this blower about 5 months. Several large trees on my property and I mulch and bag them several time per season. This blower is more than I need, but go big or go home! I would expect a blower of this power to be heavy, and it is, but for the power it has I think its rather light. I used it in 20-30 minute intervals with no problems. The padding is fine and the design provides comfort. It has fantastic power and starts within the first 3 pulls every time. I have no complaints on this blower at all. I like the adjustable tube for confined spaces and flower beds, and I very much like the adjustability of the throttle handle position. I'm searching for a con and really can't find one, but if I had one it would be the fuel tank. I wish there was a fuel window to check the level easier. The material is thin to see fuel level but its not easy to check. Also, the shape of the tank is a little bit off, so if you want to fill it up completely, you must tip the blower slightly to one side to fill it completely. This isn't a big deal, but its something that I would prefer to be changed. Overall, this is a fantastic tool that cut my cleanup time drastically and the blower is fun to use. It also does very well on snow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Blower But A Tad Below The Competition I will preface my review by disclosing that I've been in the lawn maintenance/landscape business for 20 years. I purchased the BR700 in October and used it extensively during fall clean ups this fall. Overall, the BR700 is an excellent blower. It puts out a fair amount of air, is light weight, is fuel efficient, and gets the job done. I even add the tip from the BR450 to help concentrate the air flow and that works well. If I had not tried any other blower, I'd see this is a phenomenal one to have. However, in my line of work, I also use other blowers. When comparing the BR700 to one of its closest rivals, the Redmax 8500/Husqvarna 580 (which I own), I find the BR700 slightly behind. You don't notice it when blowing regular every day things like grass clippings or light leaves but where I saw a big difference was during fall clean ups. The 8500 would get things leaves and debris out of shrubs and flower beds much more easily than the 700 which struggled a bit. Once the leaves were in the open, there wasn't much difference between the two. This could be because the 700 lacks the air speed of the 8500. Overall, however, the BR700 is a fine blower and good choice for both the professional or homeowner.
