Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overkill for anything under an acre. I have a corner lot, with fenced in back yard, sidewalks, landscaping and a few trees. I was sick of going through several batteries to trim my yard on my old Black and Decker. I went for much more power, and I got it. Good? Yes and no. The power is great, but it also grabs what it's hitting and pulls it around. It's harder to use and modulate the power than the finesse needed for typical home owners. I would highly recommend a step down unless you are trimming a LOT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beats the socks off "cheap" trimmers! I had purchased another brand and used it for the last 6 years. I said the next trimmer I bought would be a more dependable upgrade. I did my research online and also talked to folks who use trimmers on a regular basis. My search paid off with the purchase of Stihl. The easy start, easy line feed , and superior performance have me almost wishing for the grass to grow so I can use my trimmer. Purchasing the Stihl mixing oil to extend the warranty was an absolute no-brainer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from After 2 months, I am impressed. After 40 years of using corded trimmers, this my first gas powered one. It does take some getting used to. It is heavier and there is a lot more vibration and noise. But, there is also a lot more power. Another thing is the ability to control the speed. The others just had an on/off switch. So far, I like it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from horrible trimmer head I've already coughed up money for two updated trimmer heads. The new one doesn't work well either. After you've advanced the line a couple of times you notice you're not cutting. When you stop, the line has broken off INSIDE the head. Yes, I bought one of the fancy heads that you "simply" line up the arrows and run the line through and then crank to spool it. I keep wasting time with trips back to the dealer to have them respool it. I was told my line was bad and then I pointed out it was the line HE recently put on. I'm not going to buy new line every time I have to trim my yard. It takes me literally two hours to trim for what should be a one hour job. For every 10 minutes of trimming, i have 15 minutes of downtime. The trimmer otherwise works great, but this one feature renders it useless to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice trimmer My old trimmer had been brought back to life last year so when it died this year it was time to let it go. I decided to go with a Stihl after my experience with my Stihl chain saw. I have a creek bank to maintain at the back of my property and it got a little tall when my other trimmer quit. My new trimmer did not disappoint it handled the brush very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to start I upgraded to a Stihl trimmer because I was tired of struggling to start my old trimmer. Like my chainsaw and leaf blower I now have all Stihl tools and never have trouble getting any of them started.
