Son to STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® athlete David Moses (senior), David had to work hard to stand
out. It took a lot of training to reach his father's level of skill, but his love of the sport and his drive
to succeed kept him going.
Then in 2012, David Moses suffered a devastating injury. During the springboard event in the
STIHL TIMBERSPORTS semifinals, his board broke. As he fell, his ankle got caught in the
competition stand, causing him to tear his Achilles tendon. Yet David still managed to complete
the competition and finished the events with only one leg.
The road to recovery was difficult, but with the support of his family and friends, David was able to
get back on the springboard and compete again. His comeback took him all the way to Germany,
where he competed for the U.S. in the 2013 STIHL TIMBERSPORTS World Championships and
carried the flag for Team USA.
"Carrying the flag I think did make my family proud. They got to see me go from one person to this
other person… who I am now," said David. "I think having people in the background you don’t hear
about – your coach, my wife, other family members... they back you and let you know you can do
this. Without that support group, I don’t think I could have personally recovered."
