Rated 5 out of 5 by Absolutly great machine but 1 flaw I'm 14 years old and run a landscaping business and I need machines that are reliable and powerful for all sorts of jobs I purchased this at a sub dealer in June 2013 and used it all summer when winter rolled around I drained the gas when I took it out in spring I tried to start it and started right up and runs but after I let it idle for 10 seconds it bogs down and dies I don't know if it's a saftey thing or getting to much gas and choking out but in an overall rating I give it 6 out of 5 stars June 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great but Expensive I have had FS0 R for 3 year now it work fine on My farm it got a lot of power to cut throught thick grass and saplings. i have used it with very little trouble. The price is X3 as much as a home owner trimmer but it last longer and work well. It got a lot of power so you do have to be carefull around siding and plactic but on the farm it work great. It weight is heavy but power come with add weight. FS 70 are lighter but have less power i think. June 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This Stihl FS90R is a great trimmer and has lots of great features, power, and great fuel economy. This trimmer is outstanding! It is so easy to start, just overall an outstanding machine. I purchased this machine in January of 2014, it is now June and it has not shown and type of ware, damage, or anything like that. This machine is very durable, and can cut anything you need it to cut. This machine is also VERY quiet. I have let it run before in my garage, and I can't even hear it in my house, but when you get it revved up it sounds like a four wheeler, I like it. The Stihl autocut 25-2, trimmer bumb head that comes standard on this model is very nice, well built and feeds out line perfectly. The quiet line that comes on this head when you buy it, I think is personally not very good, although it does reduce some of the wind noise. The line that I use now is the round line, I think it is okay but does anybody recommend any other line brand or any other from Stihl? Anyways I really love this machine and I might just have to buy another one next year! Also does anybody recommend any blower from Stihl? I am looking for a new one and I don't know if I should get a handheld or backpack blower. If you have any recommendations then please comment them below. June 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good power to weight ratio. I have many thousands of hours on my FS90R as a line trimmer. It never fails to start and perform well everyday. I often use it one handed and it's very ergonomic in that regard. That being said, I had to replace the carb early in it's life, as well as a couple of those overengineered gas caps and the fuel line which was, several years ago, a common problem resulting in much warranty work for the dealers.I also employ a wide cutting swathe and this trimmer has a strong, durable clutch. Rated 5 out of 5 by a quality trimmer, well worth the price a quality trimmer, well worth the price. CAUTION DO NOT USE ETHANOL GAS in this machine. You will end up replacing the carburetor. lots of low end torque and the only product with a 4 stroke motor and mixed gas/oil. mine starts on the first pull everytime. remember to leave it dry over the winter and it will last you many seasons. Rated 4 out of 5 by 2 flaws, but nothing major Out of the box, the 1st issue I had with a trimmer in this price range is the dinky shoulder strap provided. It works in a pinch but more than 20-30 minutes of trimming and you're back will be screaming for some relief! The 2nd issue I have, now that I've used the trimmer a handful of times over the past 2 months, is the guard at the bottom of the shaft. It tends to not want to flow smoothly over uneven ground and actually gets hung up in the grass. Level ground seems to do fine but trimming over uneven terrain almost always gets me hung up once or twice. Nothing major but it does seem like an annoying design flaw. I considered removing the guard but it has the line cutter built in.Otherwise, it has cranked reliably on the first or second pull and has more power than you'll ever need for typical lawn maintenance. I have only had to go full throttle on a few occasions where I'm trimming along an overgrown pasture fence. June 11, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Undisclosed faults with this product I purchased this trimmer in June of 2013 with the expectations that Stihl had good products and for the amount of weed eating I was doing needed something more powerful than what I had. The trimmer didn't even last a year. Thank goodness I had the warranty. Metal shavings were found in the motor. Apparently a fault is this model after talking to other stihl owners. I will probably go back to my previous brand when this one craters, which I am sure it will again. June 9, 2014
