Rated 5 out of 5 by This thing rocks I have 200 acres and needed to cut some mesquites at ground level and then poison the stims and stumps left. I can go through a field and clear small mesquites in no time and then go back and spray and then pick up the mesquites rather than bush hogging so there are no thorns left in the field. This thing has been super reliable so far and cuts through everything. I do use the harness and highly recommend for ease of saw use. August 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Real Stud I purchased this clearing saw for a piece of South Georgia hunting land I lease. I have used it for work that should have been done with a tractor and bush hog. Blackberry bushes, three foot weeds, two inch thick scrub trees, tall grass all posed no problem at all. Most of the brush was so dense that it had to be cut down by lowering the blade horizontally onto the brush tangle and grinding it down to the ground before I could move forward. Except for the trees, I couldn't even hear a change in the saw's RPMs as the saw chewed through everything with ease. There was one mishap; I was clearing a firing lane in preparation for a stand when I hit a hidden metal spike that a previous hunter must have used to anchor a stand some decades ago. This was a solid steel tent spike, about three times the diameter of a piece of rebar. The saw kicked violently to the side and lost about two-thirds of its RPMs. Stunned, I stepped back, saw the now exposed spike and noticed that the saw seem to be idling fine. Relieved, I revved it back up and finished the job (I did, however, locate the three remaining tent spikes prior to hitting them!) No vibration or engine issues. The blade was ruined, tips bent slightly, but the saw was otherwise fine. I was definitely glad I was wearing the safety harness so the blade didn't come straight back to my feet. This piece of equipment was definitely not cheap, but I was so impressed with Stihl's quality and the dealer's service (this was my first Stihl purchase) that I bought a Stihl chainsaw a week later. Repeat business is the highest compliment I can give any company and Stihl earned it. August 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Cadillac weed eater! This is a whole lotta weed eater! I work in a rural cemetery, and live on 32 over grown acres, this thing has power to do what I need and then some, and I've got every end of the spectrum to go through. Saplings, field grass, brush, vines, even some low hanging branches... With the right blade I've gone through 4"+ woody stock that a chain saw would have been better for, but I don't always have the time to go back and forth. This is over kill for your average schmo trimming the lawn and going through 1/4"- 1/2" junk. Serious price for serious power on a serious job. It's a loud mean machine, but handles like a Cadillac, I love it! May 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This might be my most valued tool? I can not imagine clearing brush or cutting firewood without my clearing saw. If I had to choose between chainsaw or clearing saw... I'd take my clearing saw. Lots of safety warnings had me concerned, but it is safer to use the clearing saw than ax or chainsaw to cut bushes and multi flora rose bushes. I have a friend who is going old school clearing around a pond on some property he just bought and it is painful for me to watch him. I have 20 acres I am turning into a field, the brush is too high to use tractor in many places. This tool is awesome! It has been great for thinning the woods around my house too. February 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great brush cutter The 460 has power to spare with all the blades we have ran up to a 20" lawnmower blade. Not so great with cord tends to break it fairly easy. Definitely worth looking into if you do a lot of brush clearing. February 2, 2013
