Rated 1 out of 5 by Put your old trimmers out by the curb I gave the protective ear muffs a poor rating only because there's no blue tooth.I understand that safety is paramount , but as a home owner a little creature comfort would be nice. Commercial users can have the boring muffs, homeowners muffs , maybe noise canceling with blue tooth link. The 240 is OUTSTANDING!!!, I can't imagine what you could do with a commercial unit .I tried my buddies 110 and was impressed with that , but working under the premise that more is better ,bought the 240, I was, and you too, will be amazed .Using the trim head, make sure you have nice comfortable running shoes . It will eviscerate grass at mildly quick sprint. The ditch line I used the grass blade . You could possibly use this to harvest winter rye or wheat .......if you had too.....just saying. You prepers reading this ???The harness is easy on the back and makes life easy . Wear safety gear , you will be green from head to foot.Yup it's a little early but had to try it out on my food plots , the 240 with the grass blade was more than adequate . Getting into the tight spots was awesome . I never planned to do this much with the unit in that quick of a time . Oh yeah , engineering ,you put hand warmers on a chainsaw why not put some LED lights on that 240.....sun was hanging low and I wanted to keep going......upset the neighbors to no end.Today, using the saw blade, I plan to cut some walking trails and shooting lanes through the woods. Rated 5 out of 5 by Lots of power, runs great! Starts on 3rd pull after 12 months! Getting 3 times more work done than my old craftsman. Comfort/power/easy start, one pull starts after warmed up.Wanted a Stihl since I 1st heard of them. Wish I would have gotten on sooner! If you have heavy growth (spring in nw washington) then I need this much power. Please use non ethanol fuel for storage with gas additive, you won't regret this. May 16, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Purchase after using a buddies machine. I purchased this machine after I used a buddies FS350 for a few days. I love my FS240, the only thing that I have any issue at all with is, the handles on the 240 are about 1 inch shorter in height that the 350. Now, the 240 has more CCs but it doesn't have the antivibration system, so the handles set a tad lower which caused my hands to cramp after so long. I would definitely buy this machine again and again! My only other suggestion would be to purchase to Forestry harness. It's much more comfortable if you are going to be using this machine for hours a day. November 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing power!! I bought one a few weeks ago for the 20 acres we have? Was a lil worried if it was going to be a lil heavy?? After about 35 hrs on it I can tell you...I could hardly tell I wore it for hours at a time. Being a 40-45yr old female 5' 9" lil over 150lbs with back & elbow issues....the handlebar grips are very comfortable and make it easy to swing! The harness once adjusted right makes holding it for hours easy! Removing it off the clip is as easy as pie to remove when finished. The price was a lil steep then what I wanted to pay but as an investment to have for years to come I feel very happy with my purchase. Plenty of power to cut weeds thigh high too! June 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by An aggressive animal with handlebars! This machine is an animal compared to those cheapy homeowner brands that I had been using. It doesn't care how thick the weeds are it just obliterates all of it. It's is very comfortable with the handlebar configuration which takes the weight off of your arms. Haven't tried the chipper blade yet but I have a feeling it won't be any trouble for this machine. The 3 point "brush blade" works well for saplings up to thumb size and smaller. The engine has plenty of power and is fuel efficient considering the ammount of work that is getting accomplished. The deflector shield does a good job keeping the weed spray off of your legs, however it can be hard to manuver in tight spaces as it can catch on things. Also it takes a bit of practice getting used to the handlebars if you're used to using a standard trimmer platform but easily overcome. I purchased this unit to clear select places at my hunting property where tractors can't go and I am satisfied it will get the job done as well as take care of the trimming needs around the house. Rated 5 out of 5 by The FS240 has the power and quality that everyone looks for in a commercial grade tool. The STIHL FS240 is a commercial grade Line trimmer/Brush-cutter. The impression I got when I first used the FS240 was this machine is an animal. I've owned commercial grade trimmers for more then 25 years and found this trimmer to have the quality and endurance many brands strive for. The FS240 has plenty of power and fuel efficiency. The FS240 has enough power to use many different blades and line sizes with no or little bogging. I would suggest using the .105 or .130 line or larger. I found using the .095 line did not have the stamina to holdup to the 37.7cc engine. The trimmer does require some TLC. I used the trimmer in a high dust area and found the air cleaner did fill-up fast but was easily remedied with a quick blowout. The components of the trimmer are logical and easy to maintain or replace. The easy start choke is one that requires little thought. The accelerator is feather touch reactive and helps to maintain fuel efficiency. If you are looking for a trimmer that is great for home or commercial use the FS240 is a great choice. May 5, 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by No More FS 250? The good news is it's been replaced with the FS240. I just bought one and had my doubts, After running it I couldn't be happier with it. More power, well balanced and it sounds awesome. Never have to go past 1/2 throttle. My last Sthil was a FS250 and it did 5 years of hard labor! It's still running, but I think I'll be using the 240 from now on.... March 27, 2015
