Rated 2 out of 5 by My third string trimmer in 15 years....This one is frustrating to keep in string. Help. Your product is a poor reproduction of my previous three trimmers. The black plastic portion of the handle rotates around the axis of the shaft. This makes for a "no touching" portion of the handle.....weird. design makes you work harder to hold and use the product...The string will not give you 15 minutes of service before it breaks off to the inside of the cartridge.....and taking the head apart requires tools and 15 minutes.....This kills the time advantage of trimming with a motorized trimmer. Have had to use hand sheers when time spent doing yard was shortened by sundown. Poor design. Or maybe I don't know how to use. I've been a power plant operator for 15 years......can learn and follow instructions....Your manual is too vague. This trimmer was purchased on the reputation of my chainsaw experiences with your products......I am highly disappointed in this product. I would recommend against purchasing it. June 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by great trimmer! I have owned this trimmer for about 5 years. It was my first trimmer, and i was about 13 at the time. I got it for doing work around our country home, cutting brambles and saplings, plus string trimming. About a year later, i was offered a landscaping job. so i brought my own trimmer. it has been commercially landscaping for the past 4 years with me. i have had NO issues with it, other than the spark arrestor screen loading up, and the primer bulb cracked. Mine was under the fuel cap recall- which i still have to take care of- but i cant complain. so much power, i have gotten my boss'es ech* SRM225 out of several minds with the extra 10cc's mine puts out. powers the 3 blade brush knife no problem. Highly reccomend it to homeowners with alot of acreage and landscapers June 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Trouble free loads of power After using a fs35 for 15 years and not a single problem or fail to start. I finally decided to upgrade to a man size trimmer. Pricey but after the first use made me wonder what took so long. Actually had told myself for years that if old one failed to start I would buy a new one. After 15 years decided not to try to even pull the rope because I new it would start. Just drove to the dealer and rewarded myself with a new fs110. Old model had curved shaft and killed my back. I'm 6'3". New model with straight shaft much more comfortable even though heavier. June 13, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not enough power for the money Has no power compared to a residential STIHL that I purchased 10 years ago. Also the carburetor sounds as if it is clogged up when it is running. bogs down on thick grass. NOT HAPPY AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! May 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Powerful engine, easy-starting, runs quiet Good power--will easily handle tough grass or stems. Usually starts with a couple of pulls at most. Much quieter than previously owned Stihl. Weight balance point could be much better. It is not nearly as comfortable to use as the last Stihl I owned. The shaft seems a bit short for my height. I owned a Stihl with the double handles before this one and I liked both the balance and ease of handling that the double handles gave me over the loop handle on this one. A shorter person would probably find the balance just fine, but for me it is just not a good fit & forces me to bend to reach proper trimming height. This is a good trimmer, but it would be a real winner with a longer shaft and a better balance point. May 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Trimmer I mow grass for side work every year. I typically jump back and forth between Stihl and another popular company that makes power equipment. This was the first 4-mix engine I had purchased and 3 year later, it is still running strong. I have kept it up with the proper maintenance and it performs without complaint. There are a couple of things I would like to point out. There is not much throttle movement with this engine. Typically, it is all or nothing with this trimmer. I have used another brand's 4-mix engine without this issue. Also, I'm not a big fan of the trimmer head as I always switch them out with a SpeedFeed. All in all this is the most dependable trimmer I have ever owned, and if everything else holds true, it will continue to be. March 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great small farm equipment Bought the FS 110 R to replace a dead Husky. Have used this mowing season to clear my road banks to my home 2200 feet from the main road. The power of this unit is superior to any previous trimmer I have owned. It will cut most any weed you aim it at. I also purchased the brush blade and it wears small woody brush out quickly and cleanly. Starting is easy, and I do follow the mixing directions and use high quality fuel along with a "corn alcohol" stabilizer added. It did take me several attempts to get use to the string head and proper winding, but now is a breeze. The only short coming I can speak of, is the straight shaft is about 6 inches shorter then I would like. I am 6'4" tall and working the machine down slopes can increase back fatigue. I lengthen my shoulder strap all the way out and still added a piece of chain to get it at my work level. Still a great, powerful trimmer. November 15, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Well made product This is my second Stihl trimmer I have owned. I am pleased with the performance of this trimmer but I will have to get use to the straight shaft, loading the head with string, and the weight of this trimmer. All three of these features are different than my previous model. October 27, 2013
