Rated 5 out of 5 by power in my hands This trimmer is very powerful, I like the way it feels in my hands, balanced, its really easy to start, its my first straight shaft trimmer so I am still adjusting and learning how to trim. The string is easy to load and the bump/advance feature really work very good. Get one too, you wont be sorry. July 21, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Plenty of power This trimmer has been a good purchase. I bought this trimmer and have been using it for over two months around my 1.25 acre place. I originally had bought the professional model (FS 90 R) because I typically like buying professional grade quality tools. The professional model ended up being a bit heavier and longer than I wanted. Although it was a beast I decided to sell it and go with the FS 56. I have been very pleased with this homeowners model. Great power and performance. I have not had any issues loading trimmer line. Good job Stihl! Keep your quality going and I appreciate you manufacturing products in the USA. July 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy happy I hated weed whacking with my old trimmer. It had no power and weeds would always wrap up in the head. So I got this stihl and for only 70 more dollars. It has more then enough power I don't even need to put the hammer down. Haven't had any issue with the weeds getting stuck in the head at all. Awesome tool July 16, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good power I wish it had a wider cutting path it has plenty of power for it. Needs a bigger fuel tank. String head is awesome holds lots of line. July 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5by Good trimmer Got good power to do anything but the string setup it comes with is junk but you can fix that by putting the pre cut style aftermarket head on and it runs like a champ not sure why the guy on here just gave up and decided to put it iin his next garage sale I can tell you right now that every stock trimmer head is junk I think stihl should come out with its own precut trimming head it's the way to go I think but other than that pulls on the first ttry while I have the plastic blade head on it cuts right through 8 ft tall sunflowers and thisles with out breaking a sweat July 8, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great product with a little trick to it. I purchased the FS 56 RC for home use. The trimmer fired right up after one pull and began cutting large weeds that had grown beside the house. After a minute or so the line advance began messing up, it did this threw the entire job. I actual had to re-spool about 20 times. It began to become so frustrating that I went to the computer and started looking at reviews about the trimmer and saw that alot of people had problems with the line advance. I contacted stihl technical support and they told me to turn the spool when putting the line on instead of wrapping it around the spool so I did that and I had no problems clearing a large area of heavy weeds July 7, 2014
