Rated 4 out of 5 by Goid except one feature. Happy with trimmer. Have only owned for a few weeks and it works well with the plastic blade attachment that I had to use since the trimmer spool did not work very well, as it would constantly jam and get tangled. Weight, balance, engine power are all good, but very disappointed with the spool feature. October 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just as great as the FS-46 Being a little tall. This is great on the back not hurting. The other trimmers on the market just do not have a shaft long enough for tall people. I am still using the FS-46. But, have this on for backup just in case. Plus, I love the curved shafts! August 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product!! After using another brand for 10 years, it finally died, and naturally, I replaced it with the same brand; only to have nothing but problems. With the seller willing to provide me with a full refund, I went out searching for a better quality product, and stumbled onto this one at my local Stihl dealer. I'm 6'2" and had always assumed that I would always be bending down when operating a bent shaft trimmer. But brilliant, a longer shaft trimmer for the taller user, so I bit the bullet and paid twice as much for the Stihl as I had for the other brand; essentially for the ergonomics. I expected a bit better performance and balance, but otherwise, a trimmer is a trimmer right? Wrong! This thing is amazing! It is so well balanced and easy to start (hot or cold) and much lighter than the other brand, which was a beast. Meanwhile, it just shreds everything in its path without effort. It runs well at lower RPMs as well for delicate corners and driveway edging. When revving it from idle, the thing will twist slightly in your hand because of the torque. You can just feel the quality build of this trimmer. The tap and go feed is pretty stiff so you really have to "tap", almost to the point of feeling like you're going to damage something in the process. Maybe it will loosen up in time as the entire mechanism is very stiff, but you can feel the quality of it. Occasionally, I will buy tools that I look forward to using, and laugh internally because of their performance and fun of use. This is one of those products! Highly recommended. July 31, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice machine. I like the machine,it starts easily and runs good,I have had some problems with the spool that holds the string. At first use I could not get it to advance any string, unless I shut it off and pulled it out by hand, I took it back and they looked at it,then I went home and used it to trim my yard and it seemed to work fine. I think the string was kinked up on the spool and thats why it wouldn't come out,so time will tell, but overall it is a nice piece of equipment. July 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by FS 50 C TRIMMER IS GOOD FOR ME. This trimmer replaced a "competitors" light weight unit that I used for approximately 18 years. Since I have a Stihl chain saw and 2 leaf blowers, I decided to purchase this trimmer after reading various reviews. Also had a special on this model which made it more affordable, had a free extended warranty offer, and a spool of trim string.Have used the trimmer for approximately 2 months on 2 acres of residential property. The motor starts easily, maneuverable, and light enough for a senior citizen to complete the work in one session. Can't believe it, but still using the same spool of trimmer string from the purchase. Very pleased so far.Hope this unit lasts as long as the other so I can pass it on to the grand kids. June 29, 2015

Rated 4 out of 5 by Gets it done Had a fs55r that became problematic. With a $20 e-loyalty reward from Stihl to motivate me, I headed in to find a new one. Settled on the fs50c because I could be out the door with tax for less than $200. Power is great, but the curved shaft is a step backwards from the straight shaft model I was used to. Also, the trimmer head on this one is a pain. The winding feature works ok, but the knob sticking out on the bottom makes it more difficult to 'float' the trimmer when cutting big areas. It tends to catch and dig in. I may try to cobble my old Fs55 straight shaft onto this new power head. All in all, it starts on 3 pulls or less, revs quickly and gets it done around my house. Rated 5 out of 5 by Thgius product is great for homeowners everywhere I love the trimmer. It starts with ease and is easy to handle. I like the rewinding system where you place the line in spool holes and just wind in six foot of string. I also have the Stihl guarantee and maintenance techs to help. The salesman was extra friendly and helpful in explaining the function of the trimmer. Go Stihl. June 9, 2015
