Rated 1 out of 5 by Not reliable!!! Thought I was buying a Quality piece of equipment! Turns out I was wrong... First off the the bump head for line advancement doesn't work well. Next problem was the drive shaft stripped out thankfully that was under warranty. Just as soon as I get it back the pull start breaks and the cost to replace it was much higher than aftermarket or a competitors . But I bought anyways just because I believe in factory parts. When the back cover was removed to fix the pull start the rewind spring and plastic housing were broken. Needless to say it's in the trash for a piece of equipment that maybe gets used six times a year. I'll just buy a cheap one from the box store and replace it when it breaks with another cheap one I will be money ahead instead of buying over priced parts to keep fixing this STIHL!!!!! May 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hard as Stihl I had read other reviews.....thought my own opinion might be valuable. If you desire the cheapest or least expensive...this is not your brand. If you have no mechanical ability this is not your brand. Buy an an electric plug in model or just hire somebody to do your lawn. I bought a Stihl because my father had a Stihl weed wacker for about 18 years and a Stihl chain saw for probably 12-15 years.i bought a 50-c-e. I am not disappointed. The first start of the year is more difficult than the rest I will admit but when I use it once a week it's one pull maybe two at the most three. She sounds like a race that lope of an aggressive cam on a race car and the dang thing will nearly cut wood! May 21, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Very Frustrating to use. Line keeps melting in head This thing is extremely frustrating to use, the line inside the head keep melting together and keeps it from feeding. You have to take the whole spool apart to fix it, which defeats the purpose of the EZ feed spool. Not to mention it takes a LOT of effort to the get thing to screw back on correctly.I have tried soaking my line in water, tried about 10 different brands of line, including Stihl brand, made sure I am sweeping and not stabbing at weeds and still keep having the same issue about every 20 minutes of using this trimmer.I taken it to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong with it and that I need to stop every 5 min or so to let it cool down. Very unacceptable for how much I paid for this thing. The melting string problem makes this thing worthless for me. May 15, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by great running unit starts every time/great power /no problems as of now, realy happy with the unit May 14, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by tap release is unpredictable Line breaks off before spoll is empty. No warning for when you need to tap more line out especially in tall grass. Then you need to take a part in the middle of the job which is a pain considering opening the spoll assembly is not easy without a tool. Easy start and powerful but this problem distracts from all the good features. Probably going to sell this brand new one and go back to Craftsman. May 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for 6 footers Everything from the shop vac to the chain saws in my shop are STIHL. Wish it would hold more line as I have 5 acres of rough terrain around the cabin. Just have to carry 6 foot pieces of line in my pocket.Made in the USA, except the shop vac. April 15, 2016
