    Awesome trimmer!
After having numerous name brand trimmers, I decided to get a Stihl. I currently have a Stihl chainsaw and blower. All three are great tools. Would never buy any other brand for my use. Although I've only used the trimmer a few times, I can tell the quality is tops. I would highly recommend a purchase of a shoulder strap (it doesn't come with one), it really helps with hours of trimming (mine is usually around 1 1/2 to 2 hours).

    Easily gets the job done
Great trimmer! Works as expected and then some. I suggest buying the pre mixed oil and gas canisters to fuel the trimmer takes away any guess work. After being stored for 2 weeks it started with one pull after hitting the primer a few times. I've never had a gas trimmer start this easily. It does blow through the trimmer line but it is fairly easy to re-spool. I have not had any issues with the line auto feeding unless I had the line spooled incorrectly. I also like the fact that my local ... read more hardware store services the product under warranty.

    Amazing trimmer
My Dad has a FS 45 that he has had for a few years now as well as a handful of Stihl chainsaws. He loves each of his Stihl items and hasn't had an issue with any of them other than normal wear and tear. He recommended that I get a Stihl for my first trimmer and let me tell you it has been the best equipment purchase I have ever made. It is super easy to use, easy to start, easy to clean and runs like a champ. Love it!

    Typical Stihl Quality
Owning a few Stihl products I know what to expect from them and this FS50 has not dissapointed whatsoever. The extra shaft length works much better for someone that is over 6ft tall as compared to the FS40. The power of the 50 is perfect for any homeowner and will cut through just about anything with ease! Knowing how to start the machine properly and using the correct 50:1 premix will net you excellent long term reliable results!!! Go Stihl or go home!!!

    Powerful Engine with Underperforming Line
I own a FSE 60 electric which I prefer over the FS 50C except for the cord. I wanted the curved handle over the straight shaft as it was better balanced. I didn't realize the line diameter size is smaller with the curved shaft. What a mistake. The motor totally overpowers the line. Buy lots of extra line as you will need it. On grass no problem. If edging with a hard surface line will disappear rapidly. Stihl needs to provide a spool upgrade for heavier line. With the small line feeding is still ... read more an issue. Go with the straight shaft that holds the thicker line. Everything else is great.

This is made for a taller man
I bought the FS50ce kind of by accident. I did not realize in the store this was the trimmer for taller men. I am 6'1'' and used to have a FS46 until ethanol gas wrecked it and I gave it to a friend. I went to the store just for a FS38. The store was sold out. I am glad they were out of stock. I am very happy with the extra 8 inches. I am also really happy with the easy2start and the choke system. Very good fuel economy as well. So far I have only run Stihl Moto mix in this trimmer. I have used ... read more it about 10 times now and my back is happy.

    Even my wife loves it!!
Well balanced and easy to start. We have a bout 10 hours of cutting tall grasses and light brush with the original string. Have not tried the brush cutting blade yet no need to so far. Plenty of power and Stihl quality make this a great value for my money.

    Great Trimmer
My dad has been running Stihls longer than I've been around, and I can see why. I bought this trimmer with the shown head, and just plowed through the brush in my backyard. It's also great for finishing work around trees or landscaping features. It's got great balance, and with the shoulder strap it's essentially weightless. I'm 6'3"-6'4" and didn't have to be bending over to use this trimmer. The Easy Start is incredible--you just have to pull the chord, not at a fast speed, the spring kicks in ... read more and it fires right up, which is handy if you need to stop the machine because you don't need to take the strap off your shoulder to start it up. I love the tap-to-feed feature--no need to stop the machine or use any tools for more string. If you're a weekend-warrior, I'd highly recommend this trimmer.

    Good value.
Money well spent. Very satisfied with this unit. Being 6'4" leaves the length of the shoulder strap lacking. Can't quite get the head as close to the ground as I would like. I will be asking my dealer if there's a longer strap available. Otherwise I'm extremely happy with it. Starts easily every time.

Starts easily every time and is easy to use
The very first feature I liked about this product is that the sales person at Ace Hardware started it up when I purchased the trimmer then took the time to show me how to start it. Since then, I have had zero problems with starting it up and getting my work done. It is very dependable and I would recommend it to friends and family needing a trimmer.

Easy to start and reliable at each use.
I bought this to use on a 30'X60' slope at our new house. It works great and powers through the 6" Bahia turf. It doesn't even use a whole tank of gas on this large area which can really save me on gas long term. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

A reliable machine that keeps getting more powerful
After struggling through the mowing season with lesser weed trimmers for years, I purchased a STIHL FS 56 RC-E trimmer. I initially expected to pay hundreds of dollars more than what I paid for my previous weed trimmers, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it was very reasonably priced. It is very easy to start (99% of the time on the first or second pull),and performs with out any issues. I am extremely happy with this product!

Far better than the competitors electric rechargeable trimmer.
Purchased an FS65 electric rechargeable trimmer after wearing out 2 -18volt and 1 - 40volt Ryobi rechargeable trimmers. I mow and trim 2.5 acres and the FS65 performance is amazing. The weight is comfortable and it is well balanced. The straight shaft unit works best for my varied trimming needs - chainlink fence, flower beds, trees, pond banks, and concrete block walls. By the time the battery runs low on charge, I am ready for a break. Compared to the Ryobi 40volt single line feed the Stihl ... read more 36volt dual line feed with thicker and higher quality line, the FS65 has cut my trimming time by 1/3. The unit is substantially more expensive (too expensive) than the competition, but the difference in performance and quality is significant.

Starts easy but it takes some getting use to.
The unit starts very easy and runs great but it will take some getting use to. I have owned a curve shaft trimmer for 25+ years and this is the first straight trimmer I have purchased and I am still trying to get use to the way it cuts.

    Wonderful product
This replaced an electric start trimmer which was very heavy and impossible for me to start and my husband had trouble starting it also. Just putting in a battery and getting right to trimming is a wonderful change. It is pretty well balanced and I feel safe using it and it goes for a very long time. It seems to cut through just about anything except larger branches which is what I use it for.
