Thgius product is great for homeowners everywhere
I love the trimmer. It starts with ease and is easy to handle. I like the rewinding system where you place the line in spool holes and just wind in six foot of string. I also have the Stihl guarantee and maintenance techs to help. The salesman was extra friendly and helpful in explaining the function of the trimmer. Go Stihl.

    Gets it done
Had a fs55r that became problematic. With a $20 e-loyalty reward from Stihl to motivate me, I headed in to find a new one. Settled on the fs50c because I could be out the door with tax for less than $200. Power is great, but the curved shaft is a step backwards from the straight shaft model I was used to. Also, the trimmer head on this one is a pain. The winding feature works ok, but the knob sticking out on the bottom makes it more difficult to 'float' the trimmer when cutting big areas. It ... read more tends to catch and dig in. I may try to cobble my old Fs55 straight shaft onto this new power head. All in all, it starts on 3 pulls or less, revs quickly and gets it done around my house.

    Typical Stihl Quality
Owning a few Stihl products I know what to expect from them and this FS50 has not dissapointed whatsoever. The extra shaft length works much better for someone that is over 6ft tall as compared to the FS40. The power of the 50 is perfect for any homeowner and will cut through just about anything with ease! Knowing how to start the machine properly and using the correct 50:1 premix will net you excellent long term reliable results!!! Go Stihl or go home!!!

This is a very good product
I have never had a better trimmer. The FS 40 C-E has Stihl Easy 2 Start and the Stihl simplified starting system. I use it mostly to trim grass and weeds on our wooded lot. I would highly recommend this trimmer.

    Excellent Trimmer for larger yards
I have had this trimmer for 2 years and it works great. My only issue was a broken drive shaft which was fixed under warranty (thus only Good on Dependability). We have over an acre with multiple fence lines and drive ways so there is a lot of trimming each week. I have an extra spool so I avoid a trip to the barn to replace the line (one tank of fuel = two spools of line).

    Awesome trimmer!
After having numerous name brand trimmers, I decided to get a Stihl. I currently have a Stihl chainsaw and blower. All three are great tools. Would never buy any other brand for my use. Although I've only used the trimmer a few times, I can tell the quality is tops. I would highly recommend a purchase of a shoulder strap (it doesn't come with one), it really helps with hours of trimming (mine is usually around 1 1/2 to 2 hours).

bicycle handles are a big deal
My first stihl trimmer puts all those others to shame. Power, ease of starting and rugged dependability are all tops. The one negative is the clamp on my bicycle handles was slipping a bit. I opened it up and inserted a thin sheet of sandpaper (rough side inward) and that cured the problem. I am now able to cut more with less fatigue than ever before.

    Even my wife loves it!!
Well balanced and easy to start. We have a bout 10 hours of cutting tall grasses and light brush with the original string. Have not tried the brush cutting blade yet no need to so far. Plenty of power and Stihl quality make this a great value for my money.

This is my second one it is a great machine
I've bought cheap machines for years but when I retired I decided I wanted something that I could work with not work on your machine is not the cheapest but in the long run it it is well worth what you pay for it.

Reliability and ease of use makes this a number 1 choice for my business
Needed to replace 2 trimmers for a big job coming up, I did my homework and ended up purchasing 2 trimmers. Reliability, easy to maintain and use equipment is what I depend on. Both trimmers are easy to start with plenty of power when needed. Fuel usage vs area cut is great seeing savings already. Using the premixed stihl additive and capability to store it in the trimmer all season is another plus. Used every day the bump feeds work great only had to open the cylinder one time to fix a string. ... read more Also purchased the 3pc plastic trimmer adapters and the steel saw blade adapters giving us a huge advantage with quick head change capabilities so much easier. The weeds fear us now as it should be.

    Well worth the price tag.
Just purchased mine yesterday and doing light comercial work for now. Easy to start is an understatement and the auto choke feature is rad. Balance feels good and the engine performance is pretty snappy @ rated 1.1 hp. Wish the front handle was just a smidgen bigger. Gotta be a STHIL!

A reliable machine that keeps getting more powerful
After struggling through the mowing season with lesser weed trimmers for years, I purchased a STIHL FS 56 RC-E trimmer. I initially expected to pay hundreds of dollars more than what I paid for my previous weed trimmers, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it was very reasonably priced. It is very easy to start (99% of the time on the first or second pull),and performs with out any issues. I am extremely happy with this product!

    Wonderful product
This replaced an electric start trimmer which was very heavy and impossible for me to start and my husband had trouble starting it also. Just putting in a battery and getting right to trimming is a wonderful change. It is pretty well balanced and I feel safe using it and it goes for a very long time. It seems to cut through just about anything except larger branches which is what I use it for.

Starts easy but it takes some getting use to.
The unit starts very easy and runs great but it will take some getting use to. I have owned a curve shaft trimmer for 25+ years and this is the first straight trimmer I have purchased and I am still trying to get use to the way it cuts.

    1 of my smarter investments!
I've owned this trimmer for 3years. I've been very happy with it. I had a gas trimmer before this one that was always persnickety about starting. No problems with starting for this one! The 85 battery lasts about 30min. which gets my project done every time. Only problem I've had is from time to time the string doesn't feed out...which I feel is expected of any line trimmer.
