    Amazing trimmer
My Dad has a FS 45 that he has had for a few years now as well as a handful of Stihl chainsaws. He loves each of his Stihl items and hasn't had an issue with any of them other than normal wear and tear. He recommended that I get a Stihl for my first trimmer and let me tell you it has been the best equipment purchase I have ever made. It is super easy to use, easy to start, easy to clean and runs like a champ. Love it!

Will last forever with proper fuel and maintenance
I'm the equipment manager at a golf course. We have three FS 45s been running them for six years other then A plugged up exhaust that is all the problems I've ever had we have recently bought an FS 40.. Been using it all summer long, expect it to be as good a machine as the 45 FS. These are home machines in a commercial setting. Each machine gets ran 20 hours a week. Would recommend for home or commercial use excellent machine!

    Great Stihl USA made quality!
This trimmer has plenty of power for homeowner use. It starts easily and runs flawlessly. Stihl dealers also provide old school "service and support after the sale" unlike many of the big box stores. I myself have been through too many of the "cheap" trimmers and realized I should have bought a Stihl long ago. You can get other trimmers a little cheaper but it's worth paying just a little more and having the equipment last a lot longer. Remember the old adage: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

    A Great(!) trimmer
Been trimming over 1,000 ft of property line with an older competitor's trimmer. That trimmer finally refused to start; even a new carburetor didn't solve the problem (thank the lord). So thinking about my 1973 vintage Stihl Model 8 chainsaw and how it still starts on the 2nd or 3rd pull a new trimmer from Stihl seemed like the way to go - particularly if Stihl made one with a handle bar. Well what I found has turned out to be the best lawn equipment decision I've ever made. Full handlebar for ... read more best control, shoulder strap to take the strain off the arms, almost no messing around with the choke, starts on the first pull, trims the full property line on 1 tank of gas - effortlessly. And it's powerful - the manual says "don't use full throttle until after the 3rd tank of fuel". Frankly I can't see myself ever using full throttle - half throttle knocks down even the toughest 2 ft high weeds. If you're thinking of buying a FS56C-E trimmer don't hesitate just do it!

    Solid yard tool!
I've gone to the extent to replace all of the power yard tools with top of the line equipment. Simple logic is that I've spent too much time and money with the big box equip. Stepped up and bought the best equipment so that when I start a project it get done. I should be the one quitting before my equipment does.

I have used many trimmers over the last 15 years. I have found that Stihl's have always been the most reliable. This trimmer is fantastic! Light weight, great power, and completely dependable. The easy start is the way to go!. One half pull and the trimmer is at full speed ready to go! Best trimmer I have ever used! I recommended this trimmer to my friend who bought it the next wk. He said the same review to me as well.

    Nicely done indeed
Purchased this to replace a Ryobi that had done many years of yeoman's service and wanted to try something different in a name brand. Liked the line feed design and feel of the Stihl plus the easy start feature. Went a couple of models up from the basic FS 38 and definitely not disappointed. Cuts through deep grass like butter and exceptionally easy to start whether machine is hot or cold. Very much like the fact that the cutting head stops when trimmer is idling. Sound level is about average ... read more although emissions seem low with no obvious signs of this being a 2 stroke. Also vibration is about what I expected from curved shaft unit. This is a joy to use and can see why people like the brand.

This trimmer replaced a "competitors" light weight unit that I used for approximately 18 years. Since I have a Stihl chain saw and 2 leaf blowers, I decided to purchase this trimmer after reading various reviews. Also had a special on this model which made it more affordable, had a free extended warranty offer, and a spool of trim string. Have used the trimmer for approximately 2 months on 2 acres of residential property. The motor starts easily, maneuverable, and light enough for a senior ... read more citizen to complete the work in one session. Can't believe it, but still using the same spool of trimmer string from the purchase. Very pleased so far. Hope this unit lasts as long as the other so I can pass it on to the grand kids.

Thgius product is great for homeowners everywhere
I love the trimmer. It starts with ease and is easy to handle. I like the rewinding system where you place the line in spool holes and just wind in six foot of string. I also have the Stihl guarantee and maintenance techs to help. The salesman was extra friendly and helpful in explaining the function of the trimmer. Go Stihl.

Far better than the competitors electric rechargeable trimmer.
Purchased an FS65 electric rechargeable trimmer after wearing out 2 -18volt and 1 - 40volt Ryobi rechargeable trimmers. I mow and trim 2.5 acres and the FS65 performance is amazing. The weight is comfortable and it is well balanced. The straight shaft unit works best for my varied trimming needs - chainlink fence, flower beds, trees, pond banks, and concrete block walls. By the time the battery runs low on charge, I am ready for a break. Compared to the Ryobi 40volt single line feed the Stihl ... read more 36volt dual line feed with thicker and higher quality line, the FS65 has cut my trimming time by 1/3. The unit is substantially more expensive (too expensive) than the competition, but the difference in performance and quality is significant.

A delight to use with a couple exceptions
With the battery operation eliminating the need for a gasoline engine or electric cords, it is truly a pleasure to use the trimmer. I am having one major problem that is not addressed in the instruction manual. The instructions say to tighten the cap by hand when replacing the mowing head. When this cap is tightened, even lightly, the string line will not advance when the mowing head is tapped on the ground. If the cap is loosened several turns the line will advance; however, each time the mower ... read more head is tapped on the ground the cap tightens; and the line will no longer advance. I find that each time I wish to advance the line loosening the cap before tapping the mowing head will allow the string to advance. It would seem that there should be a spacer that would keep the cap from being tightened too far.

    Wonderful product
This replaced an electric start trimmer which was very heavy and impossible for me to start and my husband had trouble starting it also. Just putting in a battery and getting right to trimming is a wonderful change. It is pretty well balanced and I feel safe using it and it goes for a very long time. It seems to cut through just about anything except larger branches which is what I use it for.

A reliable machine that keeps getting more powerful
After struggling through the mowing season with lesser weed trimmers for years, I purchased a STIHL FS 56 RC-E trimmer. I initially expected to pay hundreds of dollars more than what I paid for my previous weed trimmers, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it was very reasonably priced. It is very easy to start (99% of the time on the first or second pull),and performs with out any issues. I am extremely happy with this product!

    A great value
I purchased this trimmer to help control the overgrowth of weeds after logging the property. It cuts through Canadian Thistle, small maple starts, elderberry starts with ease. Light, easy to use and dependable are the things I like about it as we are on a steep hillside. At first I thought the gas tank was a bit on the small side but I've come to understand that when it's out of gas so am I and the rest while refilling is appreciated. I would recommend this trimmer to anyone.

    great product
After testing many of the top brands, I was very disappointed with the feeling of lack of power. Being a big fan of Stihl chainsaws, I decided to try their trimmer as well. The FS 56 RC-E was the only straight shaft homeowner trimmer that my local store had in stock. It was a little pricey but worth every penny. Most trimmers I run wide open. With the Stihl, half throttle is more than enough power. I outfitted mine with the Stihl polycut 20-3 head and it has torn through any vegetation I have ... read more put it up against. I would highly recommend this machine to anyone.
