    Worth the money
Worth the money. Very efficient, great power at all angles. Highly recommend. Being a stihl owner carries the same weight in the trimmer world as Harley in the motorcycle world.

    Way underrated.
I have used this trimmer for 20+ hours a week for the last three cut seasons and it hasn't quit yet. It's been dropped, left out in the rain, and down right abused due to so many different users in the company and still doesn't miss a beat. It doesn't have the power of the commercial grade trimmers but it's still tough as shoe leather and will chop down tall weeds with ease. Do the regular maintenance, use good fuel mix (Stihl), and pair it with ugly wire .095 string and this thing won't ... read more disappoint. If you buy this for for general homeowner use, it will definitely get the job done and have the neighbors jealous.

Overall, the best trimmer for the money.
This is a very good trimmer. However, a few feature changes would make it an even better one. The line feed mechanism needs some work. At times, the lines break off and pull back inside the housing. This requires stopping the engine and threading the lines back through the housing. This wastes a lot of time. A second needed change is the line shield. In addition to trimming, I use my trimmer to edge along my walkway and street. It is very difficult to find a convenient position to edge with this ... read more trimmer due to the way the shield is positioned.

    Very dependable
I have taken of my own yard since 1988 and have owned other trimmers gas and electric. I purchased my 1st Stihl trimmer in 2005 and my 2nd in 2011. I'm totally dedicated to these awesome machines. Always starts, easy to use, same with their blowers. The only reason I purchased another one in 2011 is because the 1st one was stolen.

    First stihl
I got this model for I feel a reasonable price considering it was the same as the big box stores premium models. Even if it's not stihl's top of the line it still out performs those models. Anyways, used for an hour continuously weed whacking and edging sidewalks. Zero problems at all. The line that it came with is junky but it was loaded full so I'm not complaining. It seemed somewhat hard to get the line to feed at first but I haven't really had issues since. Highly recommended and I know it ... read more will last awhile based on other stihl products.

Dependable, runs good, heavy, awkward cutting angle
Starts easily. Runs great. Line requires a good "bump" to advance, but no problem there. Biggest negative is the angle of the cut...I have to tilt the head down drastically to get the cut I need to make. Requires me to raise the engine/trigger power unit up so high that it is very uncomfortable--especially with a unit that is pretty heavy and unbalanced to start with. Not a unit for someone with carpal tunnel issues! Quality, dependability, power, value----all good. But I think DESIGN should ... read more probably get about a 1.5 stars. This is something that is very hard to determine in the store...only after bringing it home and running it for 30 minutes with an aching right arm will you be able to see what I have seen. So, yes I would recommend this unit, but only if one considers it's negative factors as well as the positive.

    Solid yard tool!
I've gone to the extent to replace all of the power yard tools with top of the line equipment. Simple logic is that I've spent too much time and money with the big box equip. Stepped up and bought the best equipment so that when I start a project it get done. I should be the one quitting before my equipment does.

Great trimmer, starts easy ,runs strong.
Does everything I want, except feed line dependably. Wants to break off inside trimmer head. This still happens less frequently than it did with my old trimmer.

Gets the job done fast and easy
I live in Alaska and the willow trees grow faster then the grass, so I set out to find a brush cutter. And I trashed several other cutters, but this one by Sthil is awesome , tough, reliable, and starts easy! Great piece of equipment.

    I bought this for me
I recently purchased the FSA 65 electric trimmer to trim my yard. After reading the specs, and from previous purchases of Stihl products, I was confident this product would not disappoint. The initial charging time of the battery was about 30 minutes and when I first used it I was amazed at its power. My back yard was very over grown so I trimmed off the tall grass so it could be mowed. I not only cut all of the overgrowth but there was enough power left to trim the whole yard. Even as I was on ... read more the last bar of the battery, the trimmer still had the power of a full charge. I love this product and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. It's light weight, extremely easy to use, and is a true work horse. Five stars in my book; this is a great product.

    Bought it for the wife
This a great trimmer, our lot is 75x160 with fence all around also flower beds and walk ways. We bought the 120 battery, the wife wears out before the battery goes down. we were surprised by the power this trimmer has. Also refilling the head is a snap, line up the arrows and insert the lines and just twist the knob to wind the new line on the spool.

    FSA 65
I bought this for basic yard trimming.I like that it has more power than gas models...but I don't like the way it handles..it is hard to get the right angel when trimming..my wife won't use it cause it is heavy and it hurts her arm to try and get the right angel to trim around trees and landscaping.

    Nice machine.
I like the machine,it starts easily and runs good,I have had some problems with the spool that holds the string. At first use I could not get it to advance any string, unless I shut it off and pulled it out by hand, I took it back and they looked at it,then I went home and used it to trim my yard and it seemed to work fine. I think the string was kinked up on the spool and thats why it wouldn't come out,so time will tell, but overall it is a nice piece of equipment.

    this product has great features
In the old days, Stihl trimmers were no problems for me. I have a Stihl chainsaw that was bought 15 or so years ago, and it is still awesome today. The trimmers of yesteryear worked very well. You didn't have to worry about the starter rope pulling out. I am not comfortable pulling the rope '' gently'' to start the trimmer. Also, I get maybe 15 to 20 min on fuel, then have to fill it up again. The string is too thin for my yard. Stihl has been my choice almost forever, I do recommend Stihl though.

    Typical Stihl Quality
Owning a few Stihl products I know what to expect from them and this FS50 has not dissapointed whatsoever. The extra shaft length works much better for someone that is over 6ft tall as compared to the FS40. The power of the 50 is perfect for any homeowner and will cut through just about anything with ease! Knowing how to start the machine properly and using the correct 50:1 premix will net you excellent long term reliable results!!! Go Stihl or go home!!!
