Great PPE to have when cutting lumber
Product protects your legs from any kick back that may occur. If you do cut the chaps the saw stops immediately before it goes too far, (at least on gas powered equipment). Great product!

    Could have been bad....
I was cutting some scrub brush at a friends place and my saw kicked back into my thigh. My saw stopped almost immediately. I took my chaps off to assess the damage, chaps worked exactly as they were supposed to. I had a line of bar oil on my jeans, but did not cut them. It took 45 mins to clean out my saw, and will need a new set of chaps....but WAY better than the alternative!!!

Spend the extra for the protection
Running 661-R, 362, 210 and 171. Use the chaos with all as I saw my brothers leg scar from the kick back he had. Ain't good to not wear even though the extra weight is aggravating.

These glasses are very comfortable and stylish as well!
These glasses are very functional and stylish as well. I purchased them at a farm equipment store when I was traveling for work. I wish I knew of a local retail store that carries them so I can purchase another pair. I was recently using a 4" grinder at work and thank goodness I was wearing my Stihl safety glasses...they got scratched, yet, it is better them than my eyes! These glasses provided comfort, style, and function for a reasonable price. Thank you Stihl

    Good value, excellent product
Purchased these glasses on a whim while getting parts for my saw. Glad i did, use them for motorcycle riding. Clear optics, sturdy construction, piece of mind from road debris. Also very good at shielding the elements. Most of all great value! I also purchased another model of Stijl glasses at the same time and am just as impressed with those

    Good senses.
I wish I'd have purchased a unit like this thirty years ago. It was assembled easily with just a few snaps. This helmet protects ones head from debris falling from above, eyes and hearing. The full face mesh keeps wood chips, not just out of your eyes but from hitting any part of the face. The mesh doesn't obstruct vision. One fault is access to be able to wipe sweat or nose without flipping it up. The hearing protection has many different positions for comfortable protection. Once adjusted I ... read more had no issues with the helmet retaining band, the lid stayed put while bending, cutting, splitting(w/maul), and loading wood. My experience is limited to winter temperatures ranging from the teens up into the low forties. Before purchasing I inquired about the availability of replacement components. The dealer told me that all components should be available for several years into the future. He also explained the recommended life of these helmets is that of five years due to UV deterioration of the material. I will be sporting this unit anytime that I am cutting under the canopy.

    good thing to have
i got tired of getting hit in the face with little rocks from my weed eater and tired of getting wood chips in my ways while cutting fire wood even with sunglasses. so i bought this helmet and the first day i used it with my weed eater a big rock rock hit the shield and was like just paid for its self

    Perfect for home users
I got this in a package deal with chaps and safety glasses making it even a better value. It is great to have one piece of safety equipment to cover your head, eyes, and ears. You wont even notice the screen in the face shield, it is fine enough that you see clearly right through it. The ear muffs have almost infinite adjustability and swing back out of the way when you don't need them. The only thing it does not have it a ratchet adjustment system but that is why it is so affordable. After ... read more using this one time, you will never want to be out in the woods with your saw without it.

So comfy you can wear them all day
I work at a Nature Center and I wear these just about every day. Extremely comfortable and good protection. I can wear these the entire day without them ever being a bother or being uncomfortable. Good tint for those sunny days.

    Good eye protection
I work in the landscaping field and I wear these every day. It doesn't matter what I'm doing. I always have them on. These are great because they hug your cheeks and get close to your temples to keep debris from flying under the glasses. One of the best features is the UV protection. I like having the UV blocked, but not having a tinted lens so I can't see what I'm doing. They last me about 3-4 months before I need a new set. They do get used everyday, do I guess thats not bad. The only con I ... read more can say is they are a little big for my small head. I guess if you have a normal size head you wont have a problem. I can't really wear them without tucking them into my Stihl baseball cap.

Well Constructed - Wash Before Using
Purchased these as part of Woodcutter's Helmet / Chaps kit. Well constucted and fit well. Not as cumbersome as I expected they might be. "Apron" description is a bit misleading as they strap around both legs separately. Glad I noticed instruction on tag to wash before use. Washing doubled the bulk of the inner safety layers and will no doubt make them more effective in the event need them to stop the saw. Note to Stihl: you might want to make that wash before use notice more prominent, such as ... read more on a tear-off tag on the garment.

    Safety first!
I would feel naked without wearing these if I was using my chainsaw. Statistics has proven that a majority of all injuries caused by chainsaws occur to the lower extremities. These chaps cover the areas most commonly affected by chainsaw injuries to the legs. I love wearing these along with my other PPE. They fit very well and are adjustable at the waist and at 2 locations along the pant leg to fit the width of your legs. They are lightweight, flexible and allow a great range of motion to the ... read more operator. I like the black color chaps because the dirt and grime is less obvious to show.

    Love the value.
I bought these as part of a package deal that had protective glasses and a safety helmet with visor and ear protection. These chaps are great. Awesome value and really comfortable I am a decent size guy at 6'2" and 220 lbs and they fully covered my legs despite their one size fits all. The nice thing is they were half the price of more expensive chaps and they are great for casual woodcutters. Also they are lightweight and easily cleaned when they get sweat and dirt on them.

    Possibly saved my life
I purchased a MS-291 18" chain saw along with chaps and this helmet. Earlier this week I had a tree mishap where a 12 foot section of tree from a blow down broke off after I made a relief cut and shot at me. I took the full brunt of the tree against the left side of my head. I wound up knocked down and 4 feet from where I had been standing. I sustained a non-life threatening head injury, but no concussion. This would have been much worse had I not been wearing this helmet. The faceshield broke ... read more off, but it can be replaced.

Great piece of PPE to have!
If you're going to be operating a chainsaw, this is a must have! With all the possibilities of serious injury, this is a mandatory safety item for me when I'm buzzing away at trees. This helmet system fits perfectly and protects extremely well. Very comfortable to wear even during long work sessions. The metal mesh face shield screen is highly transparent and does not get in the way while using a chainsaw properly. Good job Stihl, keep up the great work!

    Quality Head Gear
I do professional yards maintenance and I've been using weed wackers for years, I always wear a pair of safety glasses, I can't tell you how many times rocks hit them. However, they do not protect your face and many times rocks have hit my face, and it hurts let me tell you. One time I came back inside after I was done and noticed a blood trail down my face from a rock that had hit. I decided enough is enough. I headed down to my local Stihl dealer here in good oh Washington State and picked up ... read more the Pro Mark Forestry Helmet. I elected to go with the more expensive model because I wanted piece of mind and I also liked that ratcheting tightener mechanism. I have used this several times now to form an opinion. So far, the metal mesh screen shield is keeping rocks and other debris from hitting my face, however, dust still gets through the mesh so continue wearing your safety glasses with this. I was able to easily match my head size with the ratcheting mechanism. Sometimes I will hit my head against a low hanging tree branch, the hard hat has already proved its weight and protected my head. The hearing protection I also love. They are quality NRR 25 rating, perfect for reducing engine noise, they can be folded up for removal, and folded back down to your ears for use. They seem to fit and seal around my ears well, as I haven't had any problems with them. This is quality all around, highly recommended for pro's or estate owners.
