Rated 5 out of 5 by My MS 150 TC-E is a pleasure to use. Now. Fueled up with fresh 89 and STILL premium oil. Filled chain oil tank. Operated primer bulb 3 or 4 times after fuel flowed. Closed choke, set throttle and pulled rope at least 20 times with out so much as a pop. Thought that it could be flooded so I opened the choke and pulled another 20 times. Nothing. Removed spark plug which is a pain and found it to be dry. Grounded spark plug securely against the cylinder to check for spark and could not see any. If starter rope was pulled very fast a feeble spark could be seen. Closed the spark plug gap slightly and re-installed it. Repeated the cold start drill and it started first pull. Let the engine warm up for a couple of minutes. Made sure the chain was being oiled and adjustment was correct and tried to cut with the saw. When the engine was put under a load it would just quit. After re-starting it would quit as soon as the throttle was opened. Since before starting the first time I had adjusted the limited adjustment mixture screws to full rich there was only one thing to do. My experience with CARB approved two stroke equipment is that they don't run. Removed the low speed adjustment limiter cap and adjusted the low speed screw about 1/2 turn further toward rich. Now the saw starts first time every time and runs very well. Two stroke engines, especially small ones are very sensitive to mixture adjustments. Too rich = run bad. Too lean= wont run at all. It is not at all uncommon for changes in air temperature and density to require re-adjustments. The high speed adjustment seems fine. Great saw for trimming and 1/2 the weight of my other 12 inch saw. The quality is very good. Will be surprised if this review is approved. February 15, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Everything I wanted I am only 35 but my back is shot. I have plenty of bigger stihl saws but I was in pain when I was done all of their products are great but this one is so light it seems like a toy but don't be fooled it can cut wood like crazy not just the limb wood either but what ever the bar will cut it will buzz right through I am very impressed and so very happy at the end of the day my back still hurts but I can at least move and now have a warm house too!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 by Super light cuts anything I need it to. Worked great for hinge cutting trees. Powered through anything I throw at it including hedge. Very light, my bad back never hurts. I have 2 larger Stihl saws that are collecting dust now. I am far from a pro, this saw will do anything I need it to. January 23, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by big disappointment I purchased this saw new and have been using chainsaws for over 40 years. It has positive attributes but it does not matter if oil cannot travel to the chain. I have almost 2 tanks of mix through the saw and have had 6 delays due to a hot, dry, tight chain. Upon removing the bar I find each time the oil port in the side of the bar is clogged with wood chips, no matter what kind of wood was being cut. I have read of other people reporting the same problem. The solutions vary, angle drilling the bar hole towards the tip, thinning the bar oil to 10 or 20% mineral spirits, or totally using canola oil in place of standard bar oil. It was 60* when I last fought the saw so using winter grade oil will be no advantage. I have ran the saw without the bar and it produced a reasonable "slobber" of bar oil so the pump is functional. I have angle drilled the bar and gained no appreciable difference. Next is altering from standard bar oil.I could like this saw if I find the special pampered procedure but for now it is a grand waste of money and time. It is non functional.Incidentally, for those interested in getting more power from the little engine, I have read recommendations to open up the muffler, advance the timing 6* and re tune. Rated 5 out of 5 by Extremely light I've had about every climbing saw there is. This is the easiest to you. So light there is no reason for a pruning saw. Going to get a few more August 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great small saw Starts well, cuts well, small enough to apply anywhere. June 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Perfect Carving Saw I got my 150 soon after they came out & I absolutely LOVE it. If you're a chainsaw carver and you don't own one, you're missing out. It comes standard with a quarter-tip carving bar (I also run a dime-tip Oregon bar on mine) so it's ready to carver right out of the gate. And it's so light weight you can carve all day. The worst thing about it is that it makes all of my other saws feel like tanks. January 18, 2015
