Rated 5 out of 5 by Better than I expected We prune a little over 1,500 fruit trees a year so I wanted a light saw. So I forked over almost as much money as I did for my MS261 and got a saw that appears to be slightly bigger and heavier than the toy saw my friend's 3 year old plays with. It took me about 2 cuts before I completely realized that this was the exact perfect saw for me with the quality of all stihl products. It really does cut with the precision of a hand saw. The engine runs smooth at all rpm, excellent on fuel, and uses very little bar oil. This combined with the low emission engine makes for a clean saw to run. Oh yeah, let's talk about the weight or lack thereof. That's why this saw costs what it does (you can buy 3 Ms170 for what this cost) but you get what you pay for. It is so light, it feels like it's going to float off into the atmosphere. It's a great saw that I had high hopes for and exceeded all expectations. January 26, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sweet saw for pruning trees. I own 3 other Stihl chainsaws. They all serve a purpose, but I really wanted a lightweight saw running a thin kerf chain for fine pruning, especially on fruit trees. I have owned a couple of orchards, and found they made much finer pruning cuts than any other chainsaws. This saw fits the bill perfectly! The cuts are very smooth and even, they look as good as if they were done with a hand saw.The saw is exceptionally light and well balanced. The motor has sufficient power for the fine cuts I make, but I thought it would run with a few more RPM's. (I am going to have the dealer double check the settings after I have some more hours on the saw). While I love the saw and highly recommend it, I do think it is over priced. February 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for clearing brush I was tired of holding and maneuvering a 18" chain saw in thick brush for hours at a time. This saw looks like a toy but works like a pro. It cuts right through 3" diameter Yaupon Holly in seconds. I love how easy it is to remove the oil and gas caps.Only complaint is that it wont engage the chain if anything (even a small stick) is touching it. A safety feature??? August 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Absolutely awesome!!! This little saw cuts faster and smoother than any saw in it's class. It will out cut many bigger saws and it is a dream to use. I have five of these saws, three top handle and two back handle. We use them trimming apples and cherries. May 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great little saw I've ran this saw several times now clearing and cutting up small trees. I have no complaints, it starts easy, has decent power, nice light weight and does very well what it was designed to do. I would certainly buy it again, it's my go to saw for the light stuff... Rated 1 out of 5 by Out of the case first time hard to start Used the unit once so far. Was very hard to start. Once it was running it kept stalling multiple times. Finally gave up and used hand sawto finish. i was spending more time tryin to get it started and keep runnng.Saw will be taken in to service center as soon as I have some time to get it there. Other Stihl products I own have been fine, trimmer and blower. This unit however is a different experience. April 16, 2014
