Rated 5 out of 5 by Simple to operate and starts easy (like a Stihl) Bought this to replace a worn out McClane four wheeled edger. The KM130r has more power than most edgers of its type however my yard has hard clay soil and the motor works hard to get the job done even though I edge weekly. Glad I got the KM130 and not a smaller unit. May 16, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Amazing Flexibility I am starting a small lawn care business and I wanted to have flexibility and the ability to use different attachments for different jobs. I settled on the KM130 The reason that I bought the KM130 over different lower power models is because I have the intention of eventually getting the pole saw attachment and I know I am going to want the power when it comes to cutting tree branches and other things like the cultivator but purely for weed eating it is somewhat overkill but who ever complained about that?I really like the KM unit because it offers amazing flexibility on the job. I can use it for weed eating, than switch to the edger, than to the blower to blow grass off the driveway. It takes less than a minute to switch different attachments. The attachments are well built and I have not had a problem yet.In other reviews some people have said that being a 4 stroke it is either all throttle or no throttle. This is not the case you do have the same control over the throttle. I am still a 2 stroke purist and i believe that it is sad that units are getting switched to 4 strokes im assuming mainly over the EPA. That being said I have not had a power complaint. This week the unit was harder to start than normal and I don't know if that is a 4 stroke thing or bad gas or what but I think that after i got some gas ran through it is fine, hopefully That being said I never had a hard start issue with my 2 stroke chain saw. Were continue and see.To sum it up this unit offers amazing flexibility. You don't have to buy a separate trimmer, pole saw, hedge trimmer, blower, ect that are all powered by a different engine which would probably end up in carburetors going bad because of bad gas. You can just get one unit and keep on using it. The KM 130 has a ton of power once you get it started, and I have no complains. Fuel economy is good, not saying I complain about using more fuel but you can weed eat a whole hour before you run out of fuel, and after it is easy to start up and get back at it. May 15, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by KM130R Starts great, tons of power, very versatile with all the attachments! I have a Stihl trimmer and blower but wanted to add more tools to my arsenal. I became interested in the Kombi units by Stihl due to the reputation of Stihl products and the flexibility of these machines in particular. Cahall Bros., Inc. is my local dealer and they carry the full line. After some deliberation I decided on the KM130R with multiple attachments. I am most happy with the amount of power that this unit has. There is no task that is too much for it. I have used the pole pruner for trimming trees, to the blade brush cutter for clearing heavy brush and small diameter trees and vines. Job well done on this machine and for offering so many attachments to save on buying several power units individually. Thank you to Cahall Bros., Inc. for providing great sales and service support. Rated 5 out of 5 by The "GO TO", YARD TOOL This Stihl Kombi yard tool is more than you can expect from any yard tool. Think it, and grab an attachment, the job is done. I have two Kombi 130 R's (purchased my first in 2010, second 2014). Buy the biggest Kombi and you will never stall out while working the tool. My home Kombi see's its normal use, but my farm Kombi works overtime. Purchase the attachments, I have most of the attchments and I find uses for each one.You will trim trees, hedges, for me... fence lines, fall trees, blow leaves and dirt, cultivate flower beds, even trim grass. You can count on your Kombi when you can't count on your kids, your Stihl Kombi will do the work with talking back to you.Attachments used the most, blower, paddles, pole saw, straight shaft w/metal blade. My bristle brush is super, but it really performs on power brooming the lawn in the spring. May 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Tough as nails with power to spare! I bought a fully landscaped house on 3.5 acres with around 70 full grown trees, and lots of edges and hedges. I did a ton of research and easily made the decision to go with the km130r with the blower, edger, trimmer, pole saw and cultivator. It did not disappoint! I'll admit I had trouble getting it started the first day, and got a bit frustrated. I finally figured out that if I primed the bulb once before each pull, it would at least turn over. After numerous tries, it finally fired up. For the first few days I had to prime it like this, but soon it was firing up on the second pull and I haven't looked back. Now, without fail it cranks up on 2nd pull when cold and first pull when warm.I used the edger first and couldn't believe the power on this thing, it was literally dragging me behind it. Edger cut fast and clean.Next up was the trimmer, plenty of power and it felt nice and balanced, effortless on my part. After I mowed I attached the blower. This is my favorite attachment. It was like holding a jet engine (sounds like one too) and blew everything out of its path with ease, even piles of dirt and 2" rocks. Very impressive.Next up was the pole saw on 9 large pine trees that needed to be trimmed up from the ground. Seriously I was in heaven, just slicing through branches like butter. Largest cut I made was probably 5 or 6 inches, but it can handle larger for sure. I kept checking the chain oil which was wise because it really chugs it down. The chain loosened up several times but was very easy to tighten. Love the user friendly design.Next up was the cultivator in my flower beds and raised garden beds, and love the compact size that allows access in tight spots. Plenty of power to really get the dirt churned up.I have absolutely loved this tool and can't wait to purchase the hedge trimmer next and I'm sure it won't let me down.I highly recommend this product and I'm a newly-converted Stihl fan for life. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product! I use this trimmer almost every day while at work, it never disappoints. It is easy to use and is very durable. Our equipment on the job does take a beating from time to time but this trimmer as well as our other Stihl products are tough enough to hold up. This is my goto tool. April 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent equipment I've owned this powerhead for 9 months. I had intended to get the 110, but when my dealer was out he upgraded me to the 130. My current attachments are the adjustable hedge trimmer, blower, and curved edger. This engine seems to make short work of anything. It ran well right out of the box, and has gotten stronger and smoother as it's broken in. The hedge trimmer takes a lot of power to run right and I wouldn't want to put it on one of the smaller engines. If you intend to use the high resistance attachments (hedge trimmer, sweeper, cultivator) this is the way to go.There are a few trade offs. The blower is a hurricane, but the 130 is almost overpowered for it and easily runs up against the redline if you aren't careful. It feels like it can break the cheaper curved edger. It's heavy and never quite balanced with any of the attachments. It's not perfect, but these seem like reasonable compromises for a multi-system.Overall an excellent piece of equipment that I always look forward to firing up. Happy I spent the money. Rated 2 out of 5 by This product has power issues Just purchased the KM 130 R. Great idea having the quick change attachments. Starts great every time but it doesn't seem to have the power it promises. Engine seems to miss Fire at full throttle when it should wind up and get the job done. Is anyone else having this problem.
