Rated 5 out of 5 by The most reliable and most liked trimmer in my case Hi there, I am a stihl owner who has 4 different model of spacific equipment. I personally own A slightly different model than the upgraded version of the FS 70 R, as in mine is the FS 70 RC-E. Along with my other stihl equipment I have owned Stihl equipment, and not only have never ever had a problem, but I adore them compaired to my older and retired fleet of stihl equipment. And belive it or not I'm a Teen. And within that I also own my lawn mowing service, every family relitive of my family own their own set of stihl equipment, and the same rule applies that Not oone has failed, and even though my familes first set of equipment have been retired because of long and reliable service, and being that they were worn out because every one of them were at least 15 years old, and yet one of them even lasted 20 years, without a stihl service center even encountering a sight with them, yet we still to this day have never had a problem. And just to say that is the minimum I could say about each piece of equipment that my whole family owns. I really hate to stop saying anything that Is and has been fantastic about stihl alone, Yet companies like echo, shindiowa, and huskavarna don't even stand a chance to how stihl has always made their products and even has to this day. I to this day stand by stihl in every way that is possible, Because I truely love, standby the products, but most importaintly their solid reputation that others can't stand a chance!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 by Powerful I was going to get the next size up but sales rep said no need. He was right. Ran first two tanks through it at half throttle and not two impressed next two at full throttle. Then on the fifth tank it got a deeper tone and smoothed out and wow. It became a monster, very powerful. Cuts three ft tall Johnson grass without even bogging down. Factory string goes quick use square green stuff. November 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very happy with the performance Just purchased the 70 R never owned a trimmer before found it very easy to figure out how to get started. The line that came on the spool didnt last very long but I changed out to a heaverier line and it has been great. I have a small farm and get weeds and heavy grass along fence line this trimmer works great for this application. October 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Overall Great trimmer! I have used a lot of the Stihl line ranging from the older FS80R up to the FS250R. This is overall the best trimmer I have used. Lightweight. I like the way my arm can rest on the engine shroud so its easier to control and maneuver. It has plenty of power for just about anything. I prefer this over the 4mix models due to the RPM range. The 4mix there is no low idle, It is either middle or high idle running and never liked it. This is your standard 2 cycle that does not have that issue. Overall, I'm very happy I bought this trimmer. Rated 5 out of 5 by Best trimmer I've ever had. As have many folks, I've bought a multitude of gas-powered trimmers over the years. This one is by far the best. It is light weight, easy to start, and with the head that uses pre-cut string, gets almost daily use somewhere on my five-acre property. September 13, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Great Homeowner Grade Machine If you are a homeowner and you need a good reliable machine thats light weight, easy to start and will last a long time, this is the one. STIHL put it in the Professional category and in my opinion it doesnt belong there. I have used one of these commercially for the past year and half. I like the new 2 stroke design. The 4 mix tends to be too heavy and it's annoying to have to adjust your valves a couple times per season. The engine has good power and starts easy. The kill switch is a spring rocker switch so it always returns to the on position. No pulling on the recoil and forgetting to turn it on. These are only cons if you are using this machine commercially, otherwise I'm sure for a homeowner this would probably be the last trimmer you'd ever buy. The cons: Recoil string is way too thin and wears out, trigger assembly is too flimsy to be put in or on a trailer/in a truck, fuel tank is too small - have run out of gas in the middle of a lawn to have to return to the truck to re fuel, has a flex shaft which wobbles when you hit the throttle suddenly or get into thick stuff. Also limits you to no attachments. Its too short. Im a short guy and I feel like its too short so somethings wrong. Gear box is not serviceable. September 7, 2013
