Rated 4 out of 5 by Product performs well to meet my needs After much searching I decided on this product for my specific needs. Good power cost balance and also the Stihl reliability. It had a harder time starting after sitting for a while. I don't expect to use it but once a month so I guess I can expect some hard starts. October 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Home trimmer I decided to try the home version trimmer after I purchased and used my chainsaw and I couldn't be happier. The unit is easy starting, light , fuel efficient and doesn't leave you vibrating for hours after use. It cost a little more than I originally wanted to spend but after using this a couple months now I can saY without any regret it was money well spent! October 9, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Ok equipment..hard to write a review on new tools I would say this trimmer is better than okay I find it having difficulties starting even with the choke on it takes three or four pulls to get it running, the power is impressive once it does start. The thing that I am most impressed with is the durability of the string itself my other trimmer I went through string like crazy I have use this trimmer six or seven times and have used very little string at all. Rated 5 out of 5 by This trimmer is a pleasure to use This is my first Stihl product and it is like night and day difference from any other trimmer I have ever used. The power is great. It starts easily every time and will idle all day long while I'm picking up sticks or what not. This is the first trimmer I have used that the string will actually come out when you tap it! I went out and bought a Stihl blower after using the trimmer and I have my old multi-attachment yard tools for sale. I can't wait to get a chainsaw.... October 7, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great top tier homeowner weedeater This product works great for the weekly homeowner weed eating and edging. I would not reccomend heavy use of it or anything more than running it for an hour at a time or so. Does more than I need for the acre that I have hitting the edges, around driveway and fence and missed spots mowing. Seems to run hot. I'd reccomend using Stihl MotoMix and stihl string. Works like a charm for homeowners use. October 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Everything about it is positive. I have used other trimmers for years and none have compared to this one. I have only had it for a couple of months now, but., I have run it through some hard tests. Starts easily every time, does the job that it is expected and leaves me a happy camper each time. I will probably write another review after more use. October 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great trimmer, excellent value! Before you do anything else after purchasing this trimmer, pull the string that comes on it and install some .095 square string that Stahl also sells. The string that comes on it is guaranteed to do one thing - under-rate how good this trimmer really is. I own the predecessor, the FS55, and have used it pretty hard around the ranch for seven years... so buying another was a no-brainer. I fully expect the same service with this one. Refinements are nice. September 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Get rid of the quiet string and it is flawless After buying a Stihl chainsaw and being impressed I knew I would look to Stihl for future products. After a different brand of trimmer died on me mid-job and wouldn't start after 30 minutes of trying, I headed to the store to buy a Stihl. The salesperson was very friendly and helped me select a trimmer appropriate for what I needed it to do and pointed out some of the features, both good and bad. This thing is so easy to start. In fact last night I started this trimmer 2 pulls and it hadn't run in over a month. I had to do more than that to start my old trimmer after it was warm.Learn the starting procedure for a Stihl and it is easy. The only bad thing about this product, which the salesperson warned me about, is the string that is pre-loaded. It is supposed to be quieter than conventional string, but let's face the facts, you're running a 2-stroke engine and string noise doesn't really impact the dB level. The quiet string is grooved, but that creates weak points where it is easier for the string to break and creates its own problems. Replace the string from the word go and it's a great product.
