Rated 5 out of 5 by Stihl FS 310 Purchased to cut brush on 20 acres. This product does the trick. I have cut 3 1/2 " trees with this cutter. Has alot of power. I am cutting brush, small saplings, briars, thick vines of 40 yrs on family farm. My father has stihl FS 90 v. The only negative thing is the bicycle handles. I think they are too wide. I guess that I should do a Youtube video on the cutter. I did alot of research before buying this stihl product. the sales rep at local stihl dealer recommended the fs- 250. I did not want to go to small of a cutter. May 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful time saver Before purchasing, I was very skeptical about this product. After watching some videos of it in operation, I was certain that they had gone before and "pre-trimmed" the trees to make the trimmer cut faster for the video. I have other STIHL products and knew the quality would be good so I went for it. To say that we were impressed would be an understatement! This thing is a hoss and will save us a tremendous amount of time. We do not use it as a trimmer, but rather solely as a brushcutter for clearing fence lines and paths through the woods. It really does cut small trees quickly. Anything up to 1/2" it doesn't even blink, amazing. I've cut up to a 3" and you will have to cut on 2 sides but it sure beats running a chain saw bending over for several hundred yards of clearing fence! Another thing that I was worried about was backlash or kickback and warping the saw blade. We have used it for about 30 hours and this have not warped it yet and the kickback doesn't exist unless you cut on the side that is rotating towards you. I would recommend buying a 2nd blade so you can quickly change and keep working. Sharpen the used blade when it's dark out or you get back to the house. The machine is very well balanced and the backpack style (w/ shoulder straps) harness is a MUST. Zero fatigue after 4+ hours of continual use and none of that normal sense of relief to get the darn thing off like I have when I use my homelite weedeater. At first I wanted to go back and purchase a 2nd one but with all the time we are saving I don't think we could keep it busy. April 3, 2013
